    This Week In Baseball 8/20-8/26

Two items from my trip to Baltimore Friday: 1) Camden Yards is the most awesome park I've ever seen in my life. 2) Baltimore's bullpen sucks complete ass.

    TSM Death Pool - 2007

I was on vacation. Leona Helmsley was one name that I was sure was on someone's list. I was surprised to come back and find out otherwise. The sports coverage and announcing thread

Dan Shulman leaving for ESPN was the worst thing ever to happen to Canadian sportscasting. He was the best.

    I feel like a Canadian!

If you saw our income taxes, you wouldn't say we get free health care.

    Buffets

I like them because I can try food I wouldn't normally try without worrying about wasting money on an entire meal I don't like. I'm a much bigger fan of breakfast buffets over dinner buffets. The breakfast buffet at Paris Las Vegas is out of this world. Even better was the one I had at Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City on my honeymoon.

    NHL Offseason - 2007

I heard that a few days ago. Probably just an interesting rumour; I can't see Ottawa being able to pay Forsberg unless he'd be willing to come for a discount.

He's not. He withdrew yesterday with kidney stones.

I had read somewhere that it was Bobby Doerr.

    The memorial list

Touchy much? I just asked a question; if you don't want to answer it, just say so.

    TSM Death Pool - 2007

That's what I get for not waiting until I got home. I found your list from last year through a forum search and thought it was this year's list. Standings are fixed.

    TSM Death Pool - 2007

    Holy cow. The memorial list

Vince McMahon. Too simplistic. Not to rehash what's been discussed in the Benoit thread ad nauseum, but the workers themselves could never organize themselves into a union. Too much backstabbing and competing for spots. Back to the original topic: I take it this is wrestlers only, and not valets? Because I just noticed that Woman and Elizabeth aren't on there.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

Edited for accuracy. He still has a job for the same reason Screaming A. Smith has a job -- they're very loud and very opinionated. Never mind whether their opinions are worth anything or not.

    TSM Death Pool - 2007

I had her last year. Probably would have picked her this year if I hadn't changed the rules. 15 points for Koala. 1997 Heritage at Hilton Head. And yes, Sportsnet is awful, although not as bad as The Score, IMO. Regarding Weir, tell people to give the guy a break, he's been injured most of the year. He withdrew from the Bridgestone with a neck injury, and he's had a bad back off and on for a couple of years now. I was fully expecting Player to take Stephen Ames, though.

Hey, here comes Woody again. I have to think he's too far back at this point, though.

Ernie's already blown his chance. Too many makable putts missed today.

I can't believe Boston is going to blow this lead.

Cy Young holds the hitless innings record with 24 1/3 in 1904, including a perfect game.

Uh, no. My pre-round prediction of 75 for Ames is looking pretty good.
  21. It's too bad they decided to completely ignore the big response he did get. He didn't get another win that was remotely high-profile until his feud with X-Pac in the fall. Kind of on topic, I really think that Jericho should have gone over HHH at Fully Loaded, or at least gotten a draw.

    Pizza in NYC

I'm going to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn during my trip to NYC in a week. Hopefully it's as good as advertised.

Yeah, this isn't like last month when it was Sergio with a 3-shot lead. Tiger actually knows how to win. Did anyone hear that Sergio got DQed for signing an incorrect scorecard? Apparently, Boo Weekley marked him down for a 4 instead of a 5 on 17, and when he told Sergio about it in the tent, he said, "Well, that's just the icing on the cake," and stormed off. What a tool.

Lucky me -- a look at the schedule tells me that Johan Santana's turn in the rotation is coming up the day I go to Camden Yards to see the Orioles and Twins.
