I think it was pretty irresponsible of Player to say something like that if he wasn't prepared to throw some names out there. The entire game of golf is built around a very stringent code of ethics. He should be as willing to name names as he would be to point out a penalty on another player in competition. As for whether or not steroids would help someone in golf, I think they definitely would -- if you can bulk up and get an extra 30 yards or so on your drive, the rest of the game becomes a hell of a lot easier.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Phoenix? Goblet of Phire, of course.

Yeah, it was the Freebirds, I think. Yep, Wiki confirms. They had a reign of -6 days in 1991. -
I hope they play Hamilton more. I thought that was a terrific course, and all the pros seemed to agree.

I think Gerber is around 3.5 mil. When I saw what Lundqvist got, I was sure Emery was going to be over 4 mil, especially since DiPietro is also making 4.5 mil.

I saw those and deep-fried Mars bars in a little store on Fremont St. in Las Vegas. I didn't actually have one, but they're a very tempting snack around midnight.

Mike needs a win soon if he wants to have a good shot at making the Presidents Cup team. He has moved ahead of Stephen Ames in the world ranking, which is good for him because I think whichever one of them is ranked higher will be a captain's pick, since the matches are in Canada. I played Angus Glen the year before it hosted the Open. I think I shot around 130. It was that Canada Day weekend a few years ago where a huge windstorm rolled through southern Ontario.

The Senators avoided arbitration with Ray Emery and signed him for $9.5 million over 3 years. It's a bit of a relief, considering I figured he'd be making at least $4 million per. I find it funny, though, that he's STILL not the highest-paid goalie on the team.

There's no such thing as too big for junior hockey in Canada. Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton all have junior teams (Ottawa has two, if you count Gatineau), and Toronto had one until they moved to the suburbs this offseason. AHL is about Halifax's speed when it comes to professional hockey.

Already discussed earlier in this thread.

The deal with Harry's blood was this -- since Voldemort used Harry's blood to bring himself back to full power in GoF, Voldemort carried some of the protection that Lily gave to Harry by sacrificing herself for him. As long as that protection existed, Harry could not be killed by Voldemort.

Schwartz's is the best place to go for smoked meat in Montreal.

If you're driving, know that you're taking your life into your hands anytime you get on the road. Montreal drivers are insane. Also, make sure you know basic navigational words and phrases in French. None of the traffic signs will have anything in English. If you're walking, know that you're taking your life into your hands anytime you cross the street. There's no buffer between one light turning red and the other light turning green at an intersection.

With the way he'd been putting today, I don't think he could've gotten it close enough with a pitch if he laid up.

My favourite team won a baseball game (and a series), and my favourite player threw a shutout. Nice going, Roy.

I should have set my PVR to stop at 3:00. As it was, it stopped at 2:30 just as Sergio found the 18th green in the playoff. I was cheering so hard for Harrington all day -- I haven't been this happy to see someone win a major in quite awhile. And fuck Sergio and his whole "Woe is me" routine.

That would never work. Not enough of a population base and not enough disposable income.

Yeah, I think they replace the British slang with American slang in the US version, but that's it (except for Book 1, where they changed the damn TITLE). It took me awhile to figure out what the hell a jumper was when I first read Philosopher's Stone.
-
Well it is 759 pages. But if you say so. Not in Canada. We get the British version.

Whoa, whoa, back up a second. My brain can't handle so much information.
-
Believe what you want, but I brought it home at 8:30 and finished it around 10 minutes after 4. I don't see how reading a 600-page book in 8 hours is so mind-boggling.

QFT. Why wouldn't you want to put teams where they would have a high chance of success, instead of insisting on putting them in places where no one will care about hockey once the initial "Hey, we've got a new team!" reaction wears off?

Bettman is the worst commissioner in the history of North American sport, and it's not close.

At this point, it's looking really good for him. There's only one guy within six shots of Sergio, and he's never won a major either.
