He'd go down as the greatest boxer of all time. But I don't think he'd become quite the iconic figure that he did.

What if the LCS weren't lengthened to 7 games in 1985? The Blue Jays blew a 3-1 lead to an aging Royals team that year. If they win there, they probably could have won 4 or 5 championships with that team instead of making a habit of coming up short for the next 6 years.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
CanadianChris replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
I just got through watching Warrior's interview on Hannity and Colmes, and he made one point which absolutely needs to have more attention paid to it: Look at the bodybuilders of the 70s, like Schwarzenegger and Zane and Draper, that were on steroids. None of those guys died from steroids. They took care of their bodies in every other way, which wrestlers tend not to do. It's the entire culture of wrestling -- which does include steroids, but also includes the painkillers, the booze, the cocaine, the heroin, the GHB -- that's the problem here, and to look at steroids in isolation is pointless. -

It always kills me when someone from WWE says something like this, when anyone with any knowledge of the business knows that Vince won't push you if you don't look a certain way. Of course no one will go up to you and tell you you need to take steroids, but they will tell you you won't become a big star with the way you look, or bring up less-talented bodybuilding types ahead of you, and leave you to fill in the blanks. -
Happy Wednesday!

I had to take that deal. He was just coming off the DL and I couldn't pass up the chance to move him for Varitek. And I had to take the chance, because my starting pitching has gone to shit. This is just the latest example.

For those that held up on Kill Bill....

I'm one of the few I know that's in the other camp -- first was good, loved the second. But, finally seeing them cut together will be great. -
You think that's bad? I just traded for him yesterday.
-
Adande seems good, although I didn't see yesterday's show. The less of The Bastard on my TV screen, though, the better.

Same reason the Senators are waiting with Emery -- they know no one's going to sign him to an offer sheet (if some team was going to, it would have already), and also know that Lundqvist will be filing for arbitration. So, there's no real hurry.
-
He's a restricted free agent THIS season.
-
How many goalies are available, though? Well, besides Martin Gerber, anyway. He's very available.
-
2 home runs for Vernon Wells last night as the Blue Jays snapped a four-game losing streak. Maybe we'll finally get to see the Vernon Wells they paid $126 million for.
-
Good for him. I knew he wasn't coming back; his asking price was too high. It'll be interesting to see what he does with top-4 minutes, though (at least, I'm assuming they signed him as a top-4 defenceman). He was sixth on the depth chart here last season.
-
I'll be interested to see what effect the schedule change will have on the field for Canadian Open.
-
He'd never broken 30 goals in his career before last year, and he turns 34 in September. Odds are the Leafs are going to regret this deal.
-
The Leafs WAY overpaid for Jason Blake.

A little late, but this month's schedule: June 7-10: Stanford St. Jude Championship, TPC Southwind, Memphis, TN (Jeff Maggert) June 14-17: U.S. Open, Oakmont CC, Oakmont, PA (Geoff Ogilvy) June 21-24: Travelers Championship, TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, CT (J.J. Henry) June 28-July 1: Buick Open, Warwick Hills G&CC, Grand Blanc, MI (Tiger Woods) Adam Scott is in the process of gagging away yet another tournament on Sunday. Triple-bogey on 14 and he's 4 back after starting the day with a 3-shot lead. Worse, he's 4 behind WOODY AUSTIN.
-
Panthers signed Richard Zednik and Brett McLean. Yeah, they're just going to shoot up the standings now.
-
And he just resigned for 2 years, $8mil. Tkachuk has always seemed like a paycheque player to me anyway.
-
Yes, and there were 11 teams below the $35m minimum salary figure pre-lockout.

We have a new contender for dumbest quote of the year, from Michelle Wie after her round at the U.S. Women's Open Thursday: "It's just a very fine line between shooting 69 and shooting what I shot today," she said. "It's really frustrating because my scores aren't showing the way I'm playing." And what she shot was 82.

While Vince may not be to blame for this specifically, it's easy to see how his history would come back to haunt him now. He has zero goodwill with the media, and he's made himself a pretty juicy target.
