Leopold just decided not to sell to Balsillie. He didn't like the idea of the team moving to Hamilton. So, I guess it's Leopold that doesn't like making money.
-
That has to be JFJ's best deal since he was hired.

PTI had a discussion today about possible NHL expansion, which I'm assuming is based on actual rumour. If Bettman is even thinking about this, he's reaching new depths of stupidity I didn't even know existed. Or he's on crack.

I'm annoyed when this happens...the Jays scored one run last night for their #4 starter, and have put up a dozen tonight for their ace.

I had to wait four years for this final, but I finally got it. Sens in 6, Alfredsson wins the Conn Smythe. Game 1 - Monday, May 28 @ Anaheim Game 2 - Wednesday, May 30 @ Anaheim Game 3 - Saturday, June 2 @ Ottawa Game 4 - Monday, June 4 @ Ottawa *Game 5 - Wednesday, June 6 @ Anaheim *Game 6 - Saturday, June 9 @ Ottawa *Game 7 - Monday, June 11 @ Anaheim I'll be at Game 3, and most likely Game 6 if it goes that far.

I don't like it. It looks like something out of the 70s.
-
If he could hold himself to that, I'd have no problem with it. History has shown that to be a tall order, though.

I preordered it at Chapters (giant Canadian bookstore chain). I'll be one of the horde picking it up at midnight.

The origins of the Vince angle
CanadianChris replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
That was 11 years ago. TV programming has changed a ton since then. -
They both miss the same percentage of the season from a games played perspective, though.

Nope. Weird question for the golf thread, though.

Mickelson has been told not to pick up a club for the next two weeks to heal his wrist. I have to believe that he either won't play at Carnoustie or won't be a factor at all.
-
And it's confirmed, Ottawa is now looking for a new head coach. Bryan Murray is taking over for the fired John Muckler and leaving the bench. Linkage
-
Not to sound too facetious, but Pacman might want to get some better friends.
-
This wasn't a great season for Muckler, and I could understand firing him. He made the terrible Gerber acquisition, lucked into Comrie (remember that he was originally going after Petr Nedved, which would have been awful) and didn't do what his boss wanted him to do at the deadline. Melnyk never hired him in the first place; he was already there when Melnyk bought the team. Throw in the fact that he doesn't get along with Bryan Murray (who Melnyk did hire) at all, and it's not hard to see why he'd be let go, finals or no finals.
-
Filled up for under $1/L for the first time in weeks yesterday.
-
Rumor is that Mike Milbury is the lead candidate for the Bruin vacancy. Oh, you're SO lucky.
-
Rumour is that Melnyk specifically instructed Muckler to get Gary Roberts at the trade deadline, and his failure to do so sealed his fate.

I heard that on the radio this morning -- it's not definite, but it's looking that way. Roy Mlakar could be out as team president also, which would be a shame. Further speculation has Bryan Murray being made the new GM, with John Paddock, Claude Julien and Randy Cunneyworth (all of whom have ties to the team or the city) mentioned as possible new head coaches should Murray decide not to be GM/coach. Paddock has also been mentioned regarding the Bruins vacancy.

Ames will probably make it as a captain's pick, only because it's in Canada and there'll probably be a bit of pressure to include a Canadian. I don't think there's any chance of Weir making it, barring a miraculous two-month stretch. Side note: Aside from the Tiger Slam, I believe that Woods' latest performances in the majors (1-1-2-2) is the greatest four-major stretch by any player ever. EDIT: Second-best; Jack had a 1-1-1-2 stretch from the 1971 PGA to the 1972 Open.

Child's play compared to the QEW coming out of Toronto (or going into Toronto in the morning).
-
No, because he's not dead. Sorry to ruin that for everyone.
-
Good call. He's in the second-to-last group with Justin Rose. I can really see Aaron Baddeley winning this tournament. He's not going to be intimidated by being in the final pairing or playing with Tiger -- this is a guy who won the Australian Open as an amateur when he was 18 years old.

I'm pissed at Cabrera because his birdie on 18 knocked Jon Mills out of the weekend.
