Having the ice show last weekend couldn't have helped, either. 1-1 after 1. Ottawa got outplayed pretty badly over the last 10 minutes, at least. They don't seem to be adjusting well to the poor ice conditions -- too many clearing attempts that were either missed or easily intercepted by the Ducks.

This is just brutally bad ice. It looks like they're skating through sand.

Gary Bettman's pretty feisty on the pregame show tonight.

Standing room tickets are $130. The cheapest seats in the place (which I got) are around $175.

This was awesome.

Scoop Jackson is an idiot who doesn't deserve to have a job commenting on sports. This is just another example of why.

In the ninth inning of the Yankees/Angels game, Michael Kay commented, "The Yankees are the epitome of American sport, and they're playing out of the country on Memorial Day. I don't get it."

Hey, the Cubs bullpen actually snuffed out a rally. Funny that Lou stuck with Zambrano until he'd thrown, like, 300 pitches before going to the pen, though.

That would be terrible for them. Imagine all the travel, and being nearly completely cut off from their obvious natural rivals. I think having Detroit in the West is ludicrous as it is.

The Ottawa games sold out in 15 minutes. They were selling only one specific section of seats on the website, and those sold out in four minutes. I was lucky to get the pair of tickets I got to Game 3.

QFT. If HHH has some of the power, it wouldn't be bad, because he seems to have a good mind for the business. Assuming he's retired, of course. Which is a ludicrous assumption these days, because no one ever retires, but still.

I can't believe I forgot about today being the Ernie Harwell game. At least I'll get to see the last couple of innings.

Looking at both of Stark's lists, I was really hoping Eckstein would make the overrated list, but I'll settle for him not making the underrated list.

5 Greatest Intercontinental Title Matches
CanadianChris replied to humanoid92's topic in General Wrestling
HHH vs. Kane at No Mercy 2002 was the other one. But I can see why that would escape anyone's mind, given that the match was built on the Katie Vick/necro angle. -
Indeed they do.

Winnipeg is the only Canadian option that makes sense. They have a decent population base and an arena already in place (even if it is small by NHL standards). I'm wondering if he's even looked into the feasibility of a team in KW, because I just can't see it as an NHL market. It's about half as big as the smallest market in the league (which I believe is either Calgary or Edmonton), and it's mostly known as a university town, so there aren't necessarily a lot of deep-pocketed folks. It'd be like giving a franchise to Syracuse. I went to school in Waterloo, and it's one of the last cities I could ever see with a major league sports team.

Yeah, Balsillie got a team after all. I wonder if he'll move them to Winnipeg. Moving them to Kitchener-Waterloo is a non-starter.

Anyone else think Lebron was expecting a "superstar call" at the end?

"We want the ball, and we're gonna score!" just might make Save Until I Delete status on my PVR.

Decision of the year so far for me: Benching Ervin Santana for this week. Did he ever get pasted this afternoon.

Pierre should top that list. The best thing you can say about him is that he steals a lot of bases, but he's still only 74% lifetime in steal success rate. He hardly ever gets on base anymore, and he has no power at all. He's below average in the field. And yet Ned Colletti is paying him $44 million.

What does that even mean? The wrestling folders are full of bastards?

Name five of the greatest TV Champions
CanadianChris replied to JN News's topic in General Wrestling
This is sad...I actually had trouble naming five TV champions, period. Regal, Tully and AA were easy, but after that I was drawing a blank. -
Well, this is just fantastic: America...land of opportunism.

This is the front cover of his upcoming autobiography. Judging from the haircut, it looks recent, and yeah, he looks a lot thinner:
