Well, I was afraid of a start like this. If Ottawa can get one back before the end of the first, I think they should still win. It's not looking that good so far, though.

Break up the Blue Jays. Two wins in a row now.
-
Hasek played well. The rest of the team...well, if they play like that the entire series, they'll be lucky to get to a game 6.
-
Well, the nightmare is over...at least for one night. Any word on Glaus?

Patrik Elias is suing his former agents, one of whom is Mark Gandler, for fraud. I already think Gandler is a major-league slimeball from his representation of Alexei Yashin, so I'll be interested to see what comes out of this.

It makes a person less anxious.

Is Ricciardi on board?

That sound you heard? That's everyone in Buffalo jumping off the Sabres bandwagon. There were several calls for Ruff's immediate firing on WGR this morning.

Fantastic. Next we'll be hearing about a team-wide outbreak of chicken pox or something.
-
The way this course is playing, he may not have to. He's +1 on the day and still tied for the lead.
-
I think you're probably right. I can see Ernie Whitt taking over soon.

Really? Wow, I hope that one makes it onto Extra Innings. I remember watching a Jays game in Detroit where Ernie Harwell was the guest of the Jays commentators, and he called a little bit of the game. What an amazing voice.

I fully expect Buffalo to win Game 2, though. That's just how the Sens roll. Still have yet to hold a 2-0 series lead in franchise history.

It was funny watching them on the power play. I've never seen such a bad power play on a good team. I counted at least eight passes by the Sabres inside the Ottawa zone that went directly to one of the penalty killers.
-
I think they ran out of room.
-
OK, THAT will seal it.
-
Never count Buffalo out. They score flurries of late goals better than any team in the league.
-
These bumps are getting more and more random.
-
How was that not a penalty shot?

After these last two starts, and considering the way this season has gone, I'm expecting the announcement that Halladay will be shut down and undergoing season-ending surgery any day now.
-
That's nothing new these days.

I'm out for next year. I thought the fantasy league would rekindle my interest in the NBA, but no.

Either Saturday (Penny vs. Lohse) or Sunday (Hendrickson vs. Milton). Arroyo is pitching Friday, so that's probably the least likely of the three for the Dodgers to win.

Not often I'd think, because when a team wins a world championship there's undue pressure to keep the team intact far beyond their expiration date. Recently though, you could point to the 2004 Red Sox (Pedro, Lowe). The Blue Jays lost pitchers that started nearly half their games in 1992 (Cone, Key, Wells, Stieb), plus their closer (Henke), and won another title in 1993. Getting Dave Stewart helped offset that somewhat, though.
