pray that games go to extra innings? It's hard to get holds when the game's tied. not really its possible to get one if it goes to 11 or 12 innings. Explain.

I'll agree with that. My angry reply was over his arrogance, not over his prediction. Banky? Arrogant? You're joking.

The Indians/Mariners doubleheader was postponed again. The entire series got wiped out due to the cold snap. And, of course, thanks to the unbalanced schedule, Seattle doesn't visit Cleveland again this year, so rescheduling it is going to be a nightmare.

The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition
CanadianChris replied to Spaceman Spiff's topic in Television & Film
Last night's episode was fun. Uchenna and Joyce's elimination was well-deserved after their colossal blunder on flight selection. Loved the Anchorman reference from Eric at the Yield mat. It's still annoying to me that everyone sees the Yield as a personal slight and proof of underhandedness, though. -

The regular season ends a week from today, and the playoffs start a week from Wednesday. So, who makes the playoffs out of the East? Here's the remaining schedule for the contenders: Tampa Bay (90 pts): Car, Fla, @Atl NY Rangers (89 pts): Tor, @NYI, Mtl, @Pit Montreal (88 pts): Bos, @NYR, @Tor Toronto (87 pts): @NYR, Phi, @NYI, Mtl Carolina (84 pts): @Fla, @TB, Atl, Fla NY Islanders (84 pts): NYR, Tor, @Phi, @NJ I have Tampa Bay, Toronto, and Montreal making the playoffs, in that order. The Rangers will lose a tiebreaker with Montreal for the last spot.

I never would have pegged Raycroft as one of the worst goalies in the league, but his stats are stunningly bad when you look at them. I had thought that he faced way more shots than most goalies, thanks to Toronto's defence, but that's not even the case.

Thank you, Chris Ray and Trevor Hoffman, for salvaging my pitching categories for this week.

All the matchups in the West look amazing. Can't say the same for the East, except for the 4/5 matchup.

The bogeys on 17 and 18 yesterday were Tiger's undoing. If he pars them both, he's in a playoff. Of course, if he'd shown up today with a one shot lead, it might have played out very differently. Zach Johnson as Masters champion? Unexpected would be putting it mildly. He has to be the most unheralded champion since Larry Mize.

Only two more exhibition games left, and then they start playing for real on Wednesday. The champs open at home against Buffalo. In the spirit of alfdogg's NBA preseason thread, here are 20 questions to answer about the upcoming season: 1. Who will win the Hart Trophy? 2. Who will win the Vezina Trophy? 3. Who will win the Calder Trophy? 4. Who will win the Art Ross Trophy? 5. Who will win the Richard Trophy? 6. What team had the best offseason? 7. What team had the worst offseason? 8. Which team will be the most improved over last year? 9. Which team will be the biggest disappointment? 10. What was the best offseason move? 11. What was the worst offseason move? 12. Who will make the playoffs that didn't last year? 13. Who will not make the playoffs that did last year? 14. Who would make your All-NHL first team? 15. Who will be the division winners? 16. Eastern Conference Final: 17. Western Conference Final: 18. Stanley Cup Final: 19. Who will win the Conn Smythe Trophy? 20. Make one bold prediction.

The reason there has never been a successful invasion angle is because no promoter has ever had the humility required to make another promotion look equal or superior to his own promotion. It also requires a top-notch booking staff to make the fans buy into it, because it's difficult to make the fans believe that a failed promotion could pull off a successful invasion, and the complete cooperation of the locker room, because they're the ones who are going to be made to look weak. It's incredibly difficult, and probably not worth the payoff. The best route to go would have been to integrate the new guys into existing programs and try to make stars out of the ones that seem to have potential. Which is pretty much what happened after the InVasion.

Bauer v. Angelus

I need 2/3 of an inning.

Clemmensen is 95% to start for the Devils tomorrow, according to Ron MacLean.
-
Senators beat the Bruins 6-3 and will open the playoffs at home against Pittsburgh. Dany Heatley scored his 50th to become the first player to record back-to-back 50-goal seasons since Pavel Bure in 2000-2001. Easy trivia question: Who holds the record for most consecutive 50-goal seasons?

If the Leafs rally to tie this but not take the lead, it'll be funny to see them pull the goalie late in a tie game.
-
Retief is now T-9 after making the cut on the number yesterday. Not bad.
-
He majorly fucked up 17 and carded a 7.
-
My offence has been just ridiculously good this week. I could still salvage a 6-6 week even if I don't get another inning and two-thirds out of my relievers.
-
Tiger has a really good chance to be in the last group with Appleby tomorrow. All it'll take is another bogey by Taylor. There isn't anyone on the leaderboard I want to see win this tournament more than Stuey, though.
-
I have three starters from the Cleveland/Seattle doubleheader not playing, so yeah.
-
Up to 24 2/3 innings. I have a shot if my relievers get used this weekend.
