Duke/VCU will be interesting. Very winnable game for VCU.

Has a Big South team ever won a tournament game?
-
Ooh, Notre Dame drew a TOUGH opponent. Winthrop is seeded way too low.
-
Strange to see that Florida is in the Midwest and Ohio State is in the South region, as well.
-
Florida overall #1? I'm not feeling it.
-
Winner. I don't think there was ever another time when both promotions were putting out such quality at the same time.

That's a minimum. He can't come back for the playoffs no matter what.

We've had AG on ESPN Classic Canada for a couple of years now. I've given up on trying to figure out on their programming decisions.

That's true for sure. The Leafs obviously wanted this game more than Ottawa did.
-
ANOTHER two goal lead blown by Ottawa, and to the LEAFS of all teams. Goddamn.
-
Not with all the lock teams that lost yesterday. There's way too many teams ahead of Akron. Old Dominion and Drexel will get in before Akron gets in, and I don't think either of those two teams are in, either.

The only thing I've been following with the Jays is the starting pitching, trying to see if they have any semblance of a rotation past Halladay and Burnett. So far, it's somewhat encouraging, even though it's hard to tell anything with the limited innings they're throwing. Chacin looks decent, and Towers looks like he's put last season's disaster behind him. Hard to tell much about Ohka -- he had one bad outing and one good outing. And John Thomson has been a pleasant surprise so far.

Carolina/NC State should be fun tomorrow. A lot of bubble teams are going to be cheering for the Heels.

I would've taken him if he'd fallen to me. My two picks...first, to end round 12, a potentially risky pick: Kevin Kouzmanoff, 3B, Padres And, to start round 13, since I've painted myself into a corner at 1B and I don't like anyone left at that position, I will take a flyer on: Mike Napoli, C, Angels

I just picked up a 32" HP LCD TV at Best Buy for $719.99 CDN (open box special). I'm pretty stoked.

Steamboat's ex-wife Bonnie apparently got the rights to "Ricky The Dragon Steamboat" in their divorce settlement. EDIT: Whoops, too slow.

humanoid, you are easily the best wrestling poster on this entire board. That just needed to be said. I always enjoy reading your posts. I actually agree with most of what you said. I didn't get PPV until 2000, so I have no memories of the PPVs as a whole; just specific matches that I've gone out of my way to find. The only PPV from 1997 that I've seen in its entirety is Canadian Stampede. Aside from that, I've only seen the Final Four match, Bret/Austin and Sid/UT from Mania, Austin/UT from Cold Day In Hell, HBK/Austin from KOTR, Bret/UT from Summerslam, the two HBK/UT matches, and, of course, the Montreal Incident. So, my view of what 1997 was is going to be coloured by the fact that I saw pretty much just the good stuff from that year, without having to wade through much of the crap. RAW, for the most part, was consistently good because they kept the focus on the top programs and the top guys. There were some bad moments -- the whole Gang Wars storyline, for instance -- but there was so much good stuff going on on TV that it's hard for me not to remember the year as anything but one of the best years the WWF has ever had (up until Survivor Series, at least). But I can certainly see where you're coming from -- the strength in the WWF was certainly at the top of the card, and there was hardly anything underneath worth watching, which would become painfully evident on PPV when you could only put the top guys in a couple of matches, and the underneath guys HAD to show you something (which they usually didn't, apart from the occasional HHH/Mankind match). I think creative can be excused for lacking direction from the Royal Rumble onward. I think it's pretty safe to say that the booking plans for those two months revolved around the WWF champion being Shawn Michaels, and when he left Vince high and dry, they had to scramble to figure out how they wanted to proceed from that point. I think they did a pretty reasonable job under the circumstances. It also left them short one main eventer for WrestleMania, which probably affected how the show was laid out, especially considering how thin the WWF roster was at that point. I will say, though, that it doesn't excuse them from stuff like sending the Sultan out to challenge Rocky for the IC belt on the biggest show of the year.

There are only 19 teams registered in the league, so I'm guessing she did. I have a suggestion...if no one else (thinking of Jack Bauer) claims the team, the team gets whatever remaining player has the highest ranking on Yahoo for the rest of the draft. Someone can create a team on a spare account or something to fill the remaining space in the league, and that team just plays the season with whatever roster it ends up with.
-
That was also the year they put the Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon ladder match on for Summerslam at the last minute, and basically told the fans that it was because the card sucked and they wanted a good match.
-
Random memory of interest to no one but me: This was one of only two SNMEs I had on tape until I cleared out my tape collection. The other was the one right after Summerslam 88 (Roberts/Rude, Hogan/Haku). After this one, my parents put cable in my room, so I just stayed up and watched them all at that point.
-
Only one new episode this month. I hate when sweeps are over.
-
They always showed the matches out of the order they actually went on live on SNME. That's why Hogan was always on at the beginning or in the middle of the show. They knew a lot of people wouldn't (or couldn't) stay up until 1 am, so they front-loaded the show and kept the nothing matches until the end.
