What a strange, strange series.

I don't think there's any keeping Syracuse out now. Huge win over Georgetown tonight.
-
It used to be, before the salary cap. Last year was just a whole lot of nothing. I expect this year to be pretty much the same.

Of all the moments I would've picked from 1997, I don't think this would be one of them.

I thought Youkilis was a Jew. He may be. That was Billy Beane's nickname for him in Moneyball.

This is one of my favourite months on the PGA calendar. After this week's (probably forgettable) stop in Scottsdale, you have Pebble Beach, Riviera and the WGC Match Play (not at La Costa this year -- maybe Ernie will show up!) in consecutive weeks. Also, the Tour is going to Mexico for the first time ever, in an opposite-field event the same week as the Match Play.

What happens if he's in AAA until August or so?
-
I will never be able to see his name again without "Greek God of walks" popping up in my head. Thanks, Michael Lewis!
-
Damn, that IS early. I figured he'd go somewhere around the 12th or 13th round.

I like how game 5 of this series (down 3-1 in the series, Schilling pitches 8(?) shutout innings for a 1-0 victory) almost exactly mirrored what happened to the Phillies in in game 5 of the actual World Series in 1993 (down 3-1 in the series, Schilling pitches a complete game 2-0 victory).

It begins... http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=2775390 This should bring every other celebrity not happy with people editing their Wiki entries out of the woodwork. Yay.

Four shutouts in one series...that's amazing. Ken Hill was a terrific pitcher for the Expos in the early 90s. People forget because Pedro joined the team that year, and because he dropped off shortly after leaving Montreal, but Hill was the main guy on that '94 staff.

What looked like a laugher turned into a nailbiter, but the Sens picked up the two points against Buffalo with a 6-5 win. With Pittsburgh pretty much guaranteed two against the Flyers tomorrow, those were two huge points for Ottawa in the battle with the Pens for fourth in the East. After seeing Buffalo the last two games, I see no reason why they shouldn't win the East once everyone is healthy. EDIT: The Penguins are playing Philly next week, not this week.

Mmmm...Mitch Williams.

I'm seriously thinking about it, since I can't get Extra Innings (although that may change by the time the season rolls around).

I agree totally, and almost posted that myself. No one had been able to look strong against Taker almost ever. Mankind got instant legitimacy by going over Taker in 1996. -
Oh, I'm not disputing that. But Kerry Fraser does suck, and I'll gladly take any opportunity to emphasize that.

And O'Hern wins on the second playoff hole, after Tiger made a five footer on 18 to draw all square, then missed a five-footer to win on the first playoff hole. The streak is over.
-
Tiger has played holes 3 through 6 in 5-over-par, including two doubles. He's 3 down to O'Hern through 6.

Sadly, Cuddyer is only qualified at OF and 1B. I checked. It was the main reason I didn't take him.

WTF? Why would the E&C/Hardys match from KOTR be there? E&C's ladder match against the Hardys at No Mercy was light years better.
-
bout damn time About damn time to draft a guy who can't strike anybody out?

If you watch the replay, you'll see that's not the case. I'm not speaking as an Ottawa fan; it's been pretty much agreed that it was a clean hit. It was just as clean as the hit that Campbell laid on Umberger in the playoffs last year. oh. i saw just the quick angle on the far side of the screen. did he hit him with his shoulder? Yeah. It looked like an elbow from the far angle, but that's just because Neil is a lot taller than Drury. It was a clean hit with the shoulder. Drury had his head down and never saw it coming.
