He was there for nearly a year. He had the Velocity announcing gig for a few months, then was supposed to wrestle full-time around the end of 2003, but he was released in early 2004 before he actually wrestled a match. His only televised wrestling appearance was at the 2004 Royal Rumble, where he was thrown out by Benoit and Orton after a dance sequence. That clip was part of a mini-angle with Sable. Vince came down to "save" her from dancing with the Cat. I miss Lamont. He was cool.

That was a heads-up play by Cabrera, to be sure...but that's also the worst intentional ball I've ever seen. It was right over the plate. I saw Vlad Guerrero do that once when he was with Montreal.

Is Foley going to go back to his ECW roots and put Flair in a headlock for 20 minutes? That could be entertaining in a perverse sort of way.

There is a scenario in which France and South Korea could have to draw lots to determine who advances to the knockout stage. If France wins by one goal and South Korea draws with Switzerland, and France scores exactly two more goals than South Korea today, they'll be deadlocked and have to flip a coin. Can you imagine the heartbreak of not advancing because you called tails and the coin came up heads?

That's true. Too bad Jagr was the drizzling shits in the clutch-and-grab years for the most part; he could have had five or six Harts by now.

Marleau doesn't score that many points with everyone keying on him and not Thornton. Not even close. He had 23 points in 24 games before Thornton arrived. He nearly doubled that in Thornton's first SEVEN games. How does Luongo enter this conversation? The Panthers missed the playoffs because the Panthers had a shitty, shitty defense, as always. Luongo couldn't have possibly sent that team to the playoffs facing nearly 2500 shots. The Rangers' D was tons better.

They're all playing baseball. Fortune and fame come in MLB, not MLS. If they're good enough, they can make just as much in one of the big UEFA leagues. MLS certainly isn't the pinnacle of soccer success in the US, no matter what USA Soccer would have you believe, and the US isn't going to have any future World Cup success if the majority of their players are from MLS.

Thornton winning the Hart was pretty much guaranteed once the Sharks made the playoffs. The key question is, if you take each player off their respective teams, what happens? Well, we know what happens to the Sharks -- they have a miserable season and miss the playoffs by a mile. The Rangers probably squeak in as a bottom seed in the East, just because of Lundqvist's incredible season. The fact that the voters had tangible evidence of the Sharks with and without Thornton made it that much easier to vote for him over Jagr.

Come on, we had the exact same argument (with the exact same participants) two months ago. Nothing's changed since then.

Ernest "The Cat" Miller. It's from the 18/12/03 episode of SmackDown.

Why don't they just copy that Whoopie Goldberg movie from the late 90s and just hire a random fan who wins a contest to coach the Knicks? You mean:

I was thinking that myself as I read it. It's possibly the worst thing I've ever seen written by him. It looks like something that would normally get the "ESPN.com staff" byline.

You should give your body one complete day of rest every week, minimum.

"Non, cherie, you misunderstood...I spent a weekend AT the Paris Hilton, not WITH Paris Hilton." What a scumbag. And this was a guy who wrote articles after being traded saying how homesick he was, and how every day he couldn't wait to get back to the house he was staying at to see pictures of his newborn that his gf was sending him by email.

Rob Neyer made a list of Clemens' 22 greatest moments. I love how he included such gems as, "Roger has shoulder surgery in '85", "Roger makes himself a pariah in Boston after signing with Toronto", and my personal favourite, "Roger dicks over the Blue Jays with a secret illegal clause in his contract." I hate that guy.

The Knicks won't have to pay out the entire $40 mil. Probably $10-12 mil or something like that. If they pay out the entire $40 mil, then they're going to prevent Brown from coaching anywhere for the next four years, and he's not going to want that, unless this is truly his last stop. I can't imagine that it is, since there's no way he'd want to finish his career like that.

Spring college football practices are starting...

Those are horrible. Even worse than the yellow ones, and I didn't think that was possible. -
Yeah, it's not like any popular American sport has terrible officiating in the championship round. Oh, wait...

Is Isiah the coach AND GM now? Because I'd love to see a team take a run at the Sixers' record for fewest wins in a season, and Isiah's the man to get it done.

You can always get cheap last-minute plane tickets to Vegas. Especially in the summer, when no one goes out to the desert.

THAT'S more like it. Jays draw three straight two-out walks off Tim Hudson, then drive in four runs on three straight two-out hits.

Free agency begins on July 1, so there'll be a lot of signings in the week following.

They sold out every game in the playoffs, so that's a good sign. The problem with the 'Canes' attendance is they can't draw during the week. They were drawing 18,000 pretty frequently on the weekend, especially during the second half of the season, but were dipping down around 12-14K during the week.

Why are they eliminating house members two at a time? There's only going to be two more episodes on the boat before the big showdown. Put me firmly in the camp that can't stand Roz. I also thought Kristin did the best job on stage. She was doing a better job heckling on stage than the heckler was from the audience.
