Isiah doign a sign-and-trade for Iverson would be a billion times funnier than him getting Kenyon Martin.
-
I think he's an ESPN employee.
-
Of course. Portland couldn't trade away a headcase without getting one in return.

Is Colorado ever going to score a goal? It's not looking like it. Bryzgalov tied the all-time playoff record for consecutive shutouts (ironically shared by J.-S. Giguere) with 3. He's 40:27 away from breaking the all-time record for consecutive playoff shutout minutes, set 76 years ago by the Canadiens' George Hainsworth (270:08).

There's a double no-hitter going on right now between the Angels and the Blue Jays. They're heading for the bottom of the 5th.

Dontrelle's a good pitcher, but he's having a crappy year that shows no signs of getting better. I'm happy to add some desperately-needed pop to the offence.

If many disagree with one, the many aren't always right. In this case...the many are right.

I agree with Charles. Lakers are done.

We used to play 500 with a baseball. Same concept, except you could get half points for catching it on the first bounce.

My God, New Jersey is just getting murdered. Is it rust, or an indication of how this series is going to go? Jersey's defence doesn't look remotely up to the task of stopping the Hurricanes right now.

Pretty basic, but I don't use it enough to warrant a cooler phone. -
If this is the Colorado team we're going to get for this series, you may as well just advance Anaheim to the conference finals right now and save everyone the trouble.

The Bastard and Screaming A. together on The Sports Reporters made me want to beat people up.
-
No. The Kings beat the Oilers 10-8 in Game 1 of the 1982 Smythe Division semifinal.
-
Anaheim got a couple of quick ones and leads 2-0 midway through the second. Colorado looks old and slow right now.

That was one wild game. No joke -- I called a 6-5 game as we were settling into our seats, and when Smoke scored with 1:13 left, I was standing up with both fists raised, celebrating, because I was SURE that was it. I also called that the game would be over within 30 seconds of the puck dropping in OT, because that's how the entire game had gone. Here's the thing...Ottawa played their absolute worst game of the season defensively, and still only lost in OT. Meszaros was horrible, Chara was invisible, Emery gave up a couple of real softies (the 6th goal was inexcusable; all he had to do was fall on the puck), everyone seemed to be fanning on clearing attempts and giving up odd-man rushes, and Volchenkov's mistake in OT was a back-breaker. BUT, Ottawa was almost scoring at will against a Buffalo defense that really didn't play badly. If Ottawa can get even a decent defensive performance, there's no way Buffalo is going to be able to keep up with them as the series wears on.

Bob Cole and Harry Neale are back together for the Sens/Sabres series. Joy.

I'm going to be bold and say that Jagr has a fight for most valuable on his own team with Henrik Lundqvist. Lundqvist had fewer losses than Kevin Weekes this season, while playing in about twice as many games. If Kevin Weekes is their starting goalie for the whole season, the Rangers don't make the playoffs. My picks: Hart - Thornton Norris - Lidstrom Calder - Ovechkin Vezina - Kiprusoff Selke - Fisher Pearson - Jagr Adams - Laviolette Lady Byng - Datsyuk (when it doubt, give it to the guy with the fewest PIM)

When does the fun part of the schedule start? You know, Kansas City, Minnesota, Seattle, teams like that. Of course, the Jays lost 2 of 3 to Tampa Bay, so I guess I'd better be careful what I wish for.

Chicago's picking right up where they left off Tuesday night. I couldn't even believe the last Bulls possession -- it seemed like the Heat forwards were just getting in rebounding position, not even bothering to contest shots, like they KNEW they weren't going to fall. And I've never seen so many in-and-outs in a five-minute stretch before.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Time to give Ty Taubenheim a try, do you think?
-
True enough. Best not to put the cart before the horse. I will say, though, that an Ottawa-Carolina series would be awesome to watch.
-
That was a shootout win, though. Jersey's only advantage is in net. If Ottawa puts enough shots on Brodeur, he'll crack.
-
Ottawa murdered Jersey right before the winning streak started. Don't put too much stock in the fact they swept the Rangers; the powerhouses are coming now.
