Sure, but how many of them are as bad as Chan Ho Park?

Romeo and Juliet saved my A in 11th-grade English. My favourite was always Macbeth, though.

We always played it with a tennis ball. It was nearly 20 years ago, though, so I don't remember a whole lot more about it. We played another game (I don't remember the name - it may not have even had a name) where you had a group of kids throwing a tennis ball at a wall. If the ball came back and hit you without you catching it, or if you caught the ball with two hands, you had to run to the wall while the other kids tried to get the ball and hit you with it before you touched the wall. If they nailed you before you got to the wall three times, you had to go stand at the wall with your back to everyone else, while every other kid got to take a free shot at you with the ball. Good, sadistic fun.

If we are tallying these up, I had 6.5. I had all the East teams, plus Colorado and San Jose. Second round: Ottawa in 6 New Jersey in 6 San Jose in 7 (NO WAY is this a sweep) Colorado in 5

The natives are getting restless. That'll happen when you go nearly an entire quarter of the game without getting a shot on goal.

I was a bit surprised, until I saw the GAA around 1.00 and the save% over .950 displayed on the screen.

I know the only one I've missed so far is Edmonton over Detroit. Hopefully Calgary can make it a nice 7 for 8. If Hitchcock gets fired, I really believe Pat Quinn's coming to coach the team.

Emery will probably play the entire series. He was pretty good in the Bolts series, though. I don't see goaltending being an issue, unless Hasek decides he's ready and sparks a goalie controversy.

Ugh, don't mention the Thunderstix. Those things are spreading. Like a plague.

That reminds me of the time one fan at an away game brought this huge pinup girl poster to wave in front of Larry Bird when he was shooting free throws. Good times. EDIT: I'm just now getting the Heat game. Those rattles are fucking annoying.

Yes, they do, but Ryan Miller has to be a brick wall in net. The Sabres can't run and gun with the Sens, because they'll get outgunned every time.

Yeah, their whole theme this year is "White Hot Heat." If I thought anyone involved had heard of them, I'd say it's a blatant ripoff of the Winnipeg Jets of years gone by. Why white? I mean wear something like tie-dye to distract the away team. Imagine running up and down the court and seeing 20,000 bodies wrapped in a pile of tie-dye. Bill Walton would love it, at least.

Wouldn't "fuck you Huet" be make more sense? He HAS to stop that. And he would have, if Rivet hadn't gotten his stick in front of it and turned it into a knuckler that Huet never saw going where it went.

I don't know which is worse...that this makes the news every two months minimum, or that I now expect to hear it every two months minimum.

I may be slightly biased -- OK, Dama/OU-level biased -- but Ottawa has to be the team to beat until proven otherwise. No team is as deep, both up front and on the blue line. I think Ottawa disposes of Buffalo in 5 or 6, and then the conference final is likely to go 7, no matter who wins the Canes/Devils series.

C'est fini. Les Canadiens sont morts.

If people stop talking about shady calls from a game nearly 5 years old. ZING!

Oh, and GO LAKERS!

That's a rather naive viewpoint. Next we'll be hearing about how OJ didn't do it because the jury found him not guilty. It's different because throughout the trial (the Kobe one that is) there had been questions about the girl's case being legitimate or not. When she refused to testify and dismissed the case, that just reeked of someone who didn't want to try to go any further without having a legit case. Also, that Kobe admitted he cheated on his wife but that he didn't rape the girl makes me believe him more. I remember MikeSC made a point when the trial ended that Kobe should've sued her for dragging his name through the mud the way she did when she accused him of it. I agreed, but I doubt that would've been much of a case either. I'll try my best not to derail the thread... I didn't know what to think during the Kobe rape trial, and I still don't. The real problem is the fact that the media turns these high profile cases into some kind of feeding frenzy that makes it virtually impossible to get a truly fair trial. This is true in rape cases more than murder cases, because there's an alleged victim who has a story to tell, but will be hounded and put under the biggest microscope imaginable. That's a whole lot of pressure on some Jane Doe who isn't used to dealing with a media crush every day like a high-profile athlete. I don't think her having the charges dismissed is an indicator one way or the other. It could have been a girl out for money, or it could have been someone who cracked under the pressure of being the victim a high-profile criminal case. Or it could have been both. We'll never know.

Hughson's been great for years. He's still the best TV guy the Blue Jays have ever had (even better than Shulman, IMO). I would assume that if they're in the offensive zone, they'd want to get a faceoff there instead of risking a mistake where the puck got out of the zone. That's the only thing I can think of.

With any other team that considered itself a Cup favourite before the season began only to get bounced in the first round, I'd be expecting a GM review at the very least. It's a shame this is Philly we're talking about. The only way I'll see a new Flyers GM is if I outlive Bob Clarke.

Ever look back on your assigned reading from high school English and realize what great books they were in retrospect? The last few posts got me thinking about that. Books I'd recommend from high school English: Fahrenheit 451 To Kill A Mockingbird Animal Farm The Chrysalids Lord Of The Flies Brave New World 1984

3-0 Buffalo after one. Philly looks like shit. I really don't want it to happen, but if Carolina wins, at least the Ottawa-Buffalo series can start on Friday.
