Not that it mattered, but that was a pretty horrible spot after the 3rd down play. It looked like Tebow was within a foot of the goal line.

I was unaware that John Salley was an NBA legend.

The Knicks appear to be employing the bullfighter defence against the Sixers. Ole!

AJ Burnett will make a decision on his contract and become a free agent this weekend, according to his agent. He's expected to opt out. If they Jays lose him, we can kiss next season goodbye.

Resurrecting this thread to point out that we just got eight inches of snow today in Ottawa. Snow before Halloween is just fucking wrong.

The funny thing is that Cundiff was on the Saints two years ago, doing kickoffs

I'm waiting for them to announce open tryouts. You too could be an NFL player!

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me — I can't get fooled again." "Wow! Brazil is big!" "And as a result of the United States military, the Taliban no longer is in existence." "Then you wake up at the high school level and find out that the illiteracy level of our children are appalling." "This foreign policy stuff is a little frustrating." "As I'm sure you can imagine, it is an unimaginable honor to live here." "For every fatal shooting, there were roughly three non-fatal shootings. And, folks, this is unacceptable in America...And we're going to do something about it."

You get Fox Sports Milwaukee, but not TNT? I get NBA Season Pass, but TSN2 was showing the other two games, and for whatever reason, my cable provider doesn't get that.

Both good games tonight are on a channel I don't get. I'm stuck with Bucks/Bulls.

they would never of worked as a heel/face

Reports were that Warrior was supposed to turn heel against Savage at Summerslam 92, but he refused at the last minute. I would've loved to see what the office could've come up with for him at that point. -

Not surprising, given how bad it's raining there right now. The weather forecast says there may even be sleet later in the day. -

They'll never get rid of a playoff round. They make too much money. Plus you'd have to go back to two divisions in each league, which is another thing they'll never do. -
His match against Virgil at Summerslam was terrific. He also had great matches against Randy Savage in 1988. And, as mentioned, his Mid-South work was awesome. The problem with DiBiase was that he never got to work much with good workers, as was the norm in the WWF at the time. The only other singles guy who was a really good worker was Savage, with Jake Roberts being somewhat above average. You're not going to get to wrestle many classics when you're constantly in there with the likes of Hercules, Ultimate Warrior, Brutus Beefcake, and Dusty Rhodes.

I'll come in with an obvious one: Sting's turn in 1999 was awful, no one bought it. The guy was born to be a face. -
I'm completely perplexed by the Sens now. Riding a four-game losing streak, they go to Buffalo, who had yet to lose in regulation this season...and jump out to a 5-0 lead en route to a 5-2 win. Maybe they just needed to get away from home, the fans had been riding them pretty hard.

Which is a great theory, except under our current tax code there are so many loopholes and back doors for a sharp accountant to exploit that usually the truly rich portion of the population don't pay what they're supposed to anyway. A flat tax would end all that noise. And how would a flat tax be unfair? Let's say, arbitrarily, it's 10% of all income. Someone who makes $20,000 per year pays $2,000. Someone who makes $20,000,000 per year pays $2,000,000. Hey, lookit that, the rich person is paying more dollars than the poor one. Except that the poor person will probably miss $2,000 a hell of a lot more than the rich person will miss $2,000,000.

2008 World Series: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays
CanadianChris replied to Bored's topic in Sports
I was thinking the same thing. They have nowhere they need to be, no opponents waiting for them in another city on a particular date. No reason they shouldn't play a full game. And that way you don't get a farce like this, where the umpires were obviously waiting to see if Tampa would tie it before calling it. -

Horrible call if they call this game right now, although I can sort of see it from baseball's POV that they wouldn't want a team to win the World Series because of calling a game after 5 innings. -
All hail Samurai Mike.
