Peavy is out for the playoffs: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2005...tory?id=2181056 That may explain a few things.
-
Brutal.
-
82 degrees in Ottawa right now. That's an all-time record high for October 4.
-
Wow, no wonder the Jays are shopping Orlando Hudson. I knew he wasn't great, but I didn't expect to see him quite that far down the list.
-
I'm pretty sure Peavy getting rocked for 4 runs in 4 innings in Game 1 wasn't the start Padres fans were looking for.
-
I was thinking of doing one of these threads a month. That should be enough for the demand around here. One a week wouldn't generate enough posts, and one blanket thread is way too unwieldy. What do you guys think?
-
Ah, yes. I forgot this was the Red River Shootout. All I saw was, "Oklahoma vs #2 Texas."
-
Oklahoma/Texas could be an interesting game, just because there are are so many expectations and so much pressure on Texas to finally cut the Sooners' heads off, especially in front of the home fans. Plus, OU should be inspired for this game unlike any other game on the schedule. Does anyone think Ohio State/Penn State will be competitive?
-
Probably tomorrow when the series starts.
-
Faulty analysis? John Kruk?? Say it ain't so!!
-
Jim Tracy's the latest to go. He and the Dodgers reached a mutual agreement that he would not return.
-
Tuesday, we have Padres/Cardinals at 1, followed by Sox^2 at 4 and Yankees/Angels (surprise!) at 8. Here's the full schedule: I predict Angels vs. Red Sox in the ALCS, and Cardinals vs. Braves in the NLCS.

Since the first training camps are opening, it seemed appropriate to start a new thread. Someone can lock the other one, I guess. I'll start off with my (probably completely off-base) predictions for this year (playoff seedings in brackets): EASTERN CONFERENCE ATLANTIC: 1. (1) Philadelphia 2. (5) Pittsburgh 3. (6) New Jersey 4. NY Islanders 5. NY Rangers NORTHEAST: 1. (2) Ottawa 2. (4) Boston 3. (7) Toronto 4. Montreal 5. Buffalo SOUTHEAST: 1. (3) Tampa Bay 2. (8) Florida 3. Atlanta 4. Washington 5. Carolina WESTERN CONFERENCE CENTRAL: 1. (3) Nashville 2. (7) Detroit 3. Chicago 4. St. Louis 5. Columbus NORTHWEST: 1. (1) Vancouver 2. (4) Calgary 3. (6) Edmonton 4. (8) Colorado 5. I can't pick which WS outcome I dread most!

Phillips would definitely do it. I don't think we'd need to offer much, either. -

Sportsnet carries the Fox feed, radio is off by about 30 seconds, and I can't watch a silent TV. I was thinking more of someone just killing Tim McCarver. -

I want a bad World Series so I don't have to watch it, and don't have to listen to Tim McCarver as a result. OK, not really. But it's close. -

I can believe it, since the Tigers and Cubs were the two best teams around the turn of last century. -

Maybe the Yankees should have thought of that before throwing Jaret Wright out for a game they supposedly had to win.
-
The chairman of this group is a cart-pusher. I think I can predict failure for this group just on that fact alone.
-
He got nothing out of his team. They improved by default. You can't help but improve on 119 wins. They also made no improvements between this season and last season. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They were right around .500 for the first half of the season, which was about as good as this group was ever going to get. The second half, they players got hurt and/or reverted back to form. This team should have easily lost 105 games, but didn't. The blame for the Tigers needed to be laid right on the GM's doorstep.

Did some digging...there are separate records for hitting streaks over a single season and over multiple seasons. So Rollins will be recognized if he gets to 57, but he won't erase DiMaggio's record.
-
What?? That's ridiculous.
-
Yeah, I've heard he was maybe, but wasn't he part of the Nicole Bass lawsuit cuz he groped her, thats why I wasn't sure. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Probably thought she was a guy. Easy mistake.
