I assumed this was continued punishment for Steamboat asking for time off for the birth of his son in 1987, and also for going to the NWA in 1989. Fortunately, they didn't kill his career like they killed those of guys like Terry Taylor. It was at this moment, actually, that I realized exactly how stupid the WWF considered their fanbase to be.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's no way an arbitrator would side with the team on this. You can't compel someone to have a DNA test outside of a criminal investigation.

This is my new favourite:

I had that thought last weekend and was going to beat you to the punch. Tomorrow's game is essentially a must win for the Red Sox, because they're done if they go down two games. There's no way in hell they will sweep the Yankees at home (especially since they will probably stink against Wang, like they have against almost every pitcher they have faced for the first time this year). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They're done in the East, maybe, but they're still tied with Cleveland for the wild card right now, and the Indians look like they've run out of gas.

Anyone interested in a TSM Online Poker Tourney?
CanadianChris replied to AboveAverage484's topic in Sports
OK, I'm in if the date looks good. All my money's on PokerStars, and I didn't feel like going through the hassle of transferring any over. -
Yeah, bringing Warrior back would just do huge business.

You had me until Party Poker. I hate that place. -
Warrior absolutely shreds WWE in Byte This reponse

While that's true, HHH has had several matches on par with that one, and better than Warrior's second-best match ever. -
Sean Avery needs to stop watching Coach's Corner. That was a Cherryesque rant if I ever heard one. Speaking of CBC (kind of), they managed to upgrade the announcing on the second half of the HNIC doubleheader. Jim Hughson is coming in to team with Greg Millen.

Someone needs to remind ESPN.com that it's not 14 straight NL East titles.

And this was The Night Where Everybody Lost.

The Amazing Race: Family Edition Thread

This race looks like what I would come up with if I put together an Amazing Race in Eastern Ontario. The clues are just so jarringly out of place with what I normally expect to hear on this show. -

Hey, it's the Frats!! Seeing Kevin and Drew again may be the highlight of this race for me. And the Eye-talians are getting bounced this leg for sure. -

How long do I have to give them before I'm allowed to hate the lot of them? Because I think I'm pretty much there. -
Further update...Boston answered with two in the bottom half to make it 5-2, and Detroit has put another run up to lead 3-1.

Excellent. I picked him up in a salary cap pool as a cheap sixth defenseman.

Is there anyone following the Flames who can tell me whether Dion Phaneuf is going to make the team or be sent back to junior?

Are you implying that couldn't occur in Canada? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, we offer people money to take our children. -

Tied again. Sox win the afternoon game, 3-1.

The NCAA doesn't conduct a national championship in I-A football, and doesn't officially recognize a national champion. Thus, any championship awarded by any organization, including the BCS, is unofficial in any event. The AP championship is just as relevant as any other championship. I would say more relevant, in fact, because it's the one that's been around the longest. http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/ia_football_past_champs.html

Irrelevant to whom? They still pick a national champion. Just because they pulled out of the BCS doesn't change that.
-
Red Sox are up 2-0 early in the afternoon game. I expect them to sweep the doubleheader, as the Jays are sending out two pitchers in significant slumps, in Bush and Chacin.
-
So the Jets are giving up on the season, then?
