    This Week in Baseball

I'm sure the Yankees are glad they brought Cano up now...he just muffed an easy toss to Jeter that would've started a big double play. Instead, the Rays scored 2 and have taken a 4-2 lead. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Marlins stadium dead in the water - what now?

I still wonder about the viability of any pro franchise in Las Vegas. There's no built-in fanbase -- it's a tourist town.

    Global Warming Validated

That's a very valid point, but why don't scientists just come out and say THAT, instead of going off half-cocked, saying "OMG OUR OCEANS ARE MELTING THE WORLD IS GOING TO END!!" like some nut on a street corner? Did environmentalists want clean air so badly that they were willing to blame what could very well be a completely natural phenomenon on pollution without proper justification, just to scare the shit out of world leaders and make them do something about the air?

    The Amazing Race 7

Man, seeing London brought back some memories. They hit a lot of places I visited or was close to.

Mitch Jones is tearing it up in Columbus (.436 OBP; 1.158 OPS); I'm surprised they didn't want to give him a shot.

Hehehe. Hey, those are the risks when you're the Big Unit.

    14 year old crashes car

Something doesn't add up. How could he get electrocuted if he was flying through the air? Don't you need to be grounded to get electrocuted by a power line?

    This Week in Baseball

From the "things are going to get worse before they get better" department...word is that Randy Johnson will miss his next start due to a stiff groin, and may have to go on the DL. Given that he and Pavano seem to be the only two guys who can give up fewer than 10 baserunners per start, I'd say that's a pretty big blow.

Man-made greenhouse gases account for approximately one-quarter of one percent of the greenhouse effect. Why? Because the greenhouse gas that has the largest effect by far is water vapour, virtually none of which is man-made. This never gets mentioned.

    This Week in Baseball

Orioles' streak is over. The Jays' bullpen is proving they're quite underrated -- only 3 earned runs in their last 20 2/3 innings.

I'm trying to find serious scientists that believe global warming is a hoax or whatever. Ones not funded by Scaife or big oil. David Bellamy does. And, of course, the global warming scientists instantly threw him under the bus. Now, of course, his angle, if you want to call it that, is that he's a conservationist and is concerned about wind farms springing up as an alternate energy source and destroying the area's habitat. But, as far as I can tell, he hasn't been funded by an oil company or anything.

The OaO NFL Draft 2005 Thread

Just to close the book on it, White was released from the Chiefs' minicamp this weekend.

I miss the days when Anglesault would call rebuilding unacceptable. Wait, no I don't.

This particular research was published in Science, which along with Nature is consdered the most reputable scientific publication. So disregarding any conclusions that one wants to draw from this, the actual research itself is probably very scientifically sound. I have no doubt that the research shows the earth is getting warmer, and I'll accept that the methodology is sound. The problem is not with the research itself, but with the story -- a classic case of post hoc ergo propter hoc by everyone quoted. I'll be interested in reading the Science article when it's released.

Dammit. Well, it was a nice comeback anyway, and I wasn't expecting a win with Bush on the mound in the first place.

    Still pretty bad.

Take a look at the bottom half of the order. Giambi, 4/23. Posada, 0-for-the Angels. Tino, 5/27. Bernie, 2/19. This team can't sustain a rally because no one past the 5-hole can get a hit.

Again, why do you base your argument's credibility on the fact that the Associated Press ran with this? It's not like the mainstream media has any way to discern fact from fallacy where science and statistics are concerned.

Not to cast aspersions at this particular story, but I would just like to point out that newspapers report bad science as indisputable fact ALL THE TIME.

Wow...the Yankees need to win tomorrow just to get to 10 wins for the month. Sadly, with Bush on the hill for Toronto, they'll probably get it.

They're still the Blue Jays. They just took "Blue" off the logo.

Easily the best show on TV at the time, besides Seinfeld. I celebrated the day it finally came out on DVD.

    TSM 2005 Death Pool

Eh, with all the stuff he and Tammy did, I'm surprised it's only happening now. I forgot he was even alive. Probably the same for everyone in the wrestling death pool. I just looked at that thread...when are people going to learn that Jake Roberts is wrestling's Keith Richards? THE MAN WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!
