He also claimed that the founding father felt democracy was an evil. -=Mike You'll have to point me to that one. -

He used a lot more words than I (or any other rational person) would use, but I got the essence of his point. He's basically saying that the integrity of the government is bigger than any one person, and the U.S. government was wrong and foolish to try and overturn the state court's decision. -

life support: medical equipment that assists or replaces important bodily functions and so enables a patient to live who otherwise might not survive If a person is unable to feed him/herself, I would say a feeding tube definitely qualifies. Malkin's whole point is just ridiculous semantics. -
... Last night. It wasn't posted on their website anywhere when I made the pick, though.

Ah, you finally made a fact. The proclimation from one of Michael's relatives about Terri's comment was also in an affidavit, yet you don't buy it. In this case, our skepticism towards them shall work both ways. Plus there's Schiavo saying in an interview that doctors were signing affidavits based on looking at a picture of Terri, without an actual exam. Mike has pretty much shown himself to be well into his normal no-selling the facts form. Any further discussion is pretty pointless. -
Pretty much anything in this thread.

This won't be near as long... With the 25th pick in the TSM NFL Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos select: Heath Miller, TE, Virginia The Broncos are woefully thin at the tight end position, having not adequately replaced Shannon Sharpe since his retirement two years ago. Miller won the Mackey Award this past season as the nation's top tight end, and is easily the top tight end in the draft. He set career Virginia and ACC marks for receptions, yards and TDs by a tight end. Not bad for a converted quarterback.

The courts are not bound by any statute other than the Constitution, nor should they be. All the federal statute did was allow the case to go to the federal courts, where the judges could do as they saw fit. They were not compelled to hear the case. -

The point is, they're refusing to consider it. Why would they issue an injunction on a case they have no intention of considering? -
Fully Loaded 2000 was the first show. Second was Unforgiven 2000.

Yes. Just because somebody is suffering does not mean they want to die or that we should kill them. -=Mike She's not suffering. You have to be living to know suffering. Terri merely exists. No one is putting her out of her misery, because she doesn't know misery. Comparing her to Christopher Reeve, or anyone else in a similar situation, is pointless because their situations aren't comparable. -
Never in my life. No matter how hungry I was(and i've gone without food for a while) have i said "MMMMMMMMMM" whenever I ate something. Nor have I smacked my lips and made a scene or gushed over the food. That's a shame.

How so? Water isn't going to get into her body naturally. So, giving somebody water is now not allowed? That is torture. -=Mike Like I said, she was actually arrested for trespassing. And if her parents tried to give her water, they'd be prevented, too. -=Mike What would they do with the bottle of water, anyway? She can't swallow, so she has no way of ingesting it. -
I call non-elimination tonight. Someone's getting mugged by Phil.

Cowboys take Shawne Merriman, DE/LB, Maryland.

You could say that about any of the big 4 sports Yeah and it sucks. Nobody is allowed to do anything. What if you don't have the right players and managment has a clamp on your balls in that respect? Good coaches don't use that as an excuse. All coaches in the pros know they're just hired to be fired anyway. Silas will get another job somewhere.

Worse ways to die than starvation? Care to explain which ones it'd be? -=Mike She has no brain activity. She would not be affected by starvation, as she cannot sense that it is even happening. All it would do is shut her body down in the same fashion that her brain has already been shut down. Starvation is cruel only to those who are aware that it is happening. As for your repeated insistence that this is an eighth amendment issue, that amendment very specifically states that it is meant to impose boundaries on the state in how they may treat prisoners in the course of a criminal case. Which this very clearly is not. -
