In a slightly different vein, one of the hosts of our local afternoon drive show got fired last year for saying Tie Domi beat his wife: "One would suspect that she could take a good punch." And later: "I'll bet you his idea of aerobics is to bang her around a bit once a week."

Here's why (credit: TSN.ca): WOW. From saying there would never be a cap to OFFERING a cap...and the league dropping linkages to revenue...what a turnaround. They should just meet in the middle at $46 million and get this thing done today.

That's crazy talk. They've got three winnable games still on the schedule (@Florida State, @Miami, Clemson) plus a home game against a Duke team which can be had on the road. Throw in one ACC Tournament win, and they should be fine to make it at 19-10 or 18-11.

I used to like the Maple Leafs, until I moved to Ottawa and the Leafs hired Pat Quinn as their coach. I HATE that guy.

Marino = 420 TD passes. But that number is not associated with greatness in football. It's associated with smoking pot. Which is why I remember it. He said nobody could tell you the number w/out looking it up. It's certainly no less obscure than Cy Young's win total (among non hardcore baseball fans). Ask 10 people off the street, and I'd be surprised if more than 2 people could tell you 511. The big difference is in degrees. Hardcore baseball fans can recite these numbers (I could tell you the win record is 511, and the win record for lefties is 363, and the strikeout record is 5,714, and the HR record is 755, and the hits record is 4,256, and even that second place in hits is 4,191), while hardcore football fans would be hard-pressed to tell you the career yardage record, or the career sack record, or the career receiving TDs record. Casual fans can still tell you a good number of the common baseball records, while I couldn't tell you any of the football records besides Peyton Manning's 49 passing TDs.

He makes me want to put a bullet in my brain. Or his. The guy never shuts up. He thinks he's God's gift to announcing, and just talks incessantly about things that happened five innings ago that had no impact on the game, and a lot of people probably didn't even notice, and stopped being interesting about 4 1/2 innings ago. Half the time he doesn't even know what he's talking about. He is afflicted with what my dad loves to call "verbal diarrhea" more than anyone else...he just runs off at the mouth about anything and everything, whether or not it actually pertains to the action we're seeing, and is in love with the sound of his own voice.

Dammit...you'd think with no NHL, the sports networks up here could pick up more NCAA basketball. I want to see this Duke/Maryland game.

This point needs to be emphasized. If you decide to take more money to play for a lesser team, that's fine. There's nothing wrong with that. But if you mock others for taking less money to stay on a winning team, practically talking down to them, you're a straight-up, bona fine idiot. Everyone has their own priorities in life, and to criticize others for not having the same priorities as you is ignorant.

Depends on where the game is. Is Carolina ever going to beat a decent team on the road? A 7-3 road-neutral record isn't exactly the stuff legends are made of.

Riiiight. How'd that Cy Young fellow get in, either? 313 losses! What a bum.

Oh, and this got me laughing... I guess he figures his dad won't be watching the show...

Wow...no taxis on this Race. How can you fit seven people in one cab? I'm guessing tons of self-driving with luxury SUVs. The airport's going to get more interesting as well...booking for four was bad enough, but how many flights are going to have six-person blocks just lying around?

Bah, no one wants to see that. Especially the spoiled punks that make up MTV's target demographic.

Wow, I didn't even know this was an issue. Maris is so obviously not a Hall of Famer that it really doesn't even merit a discussion.

How many shows that premiered after the Super Bowl actually did well? The A-Team and The Wonder Years are the only ones I can think of. American Dad is gonna tank.

That was one. The one that pissed me off the most was no Illinois/Michigan State rematch. Although, after seeing MSU get smacked down hard in their own building, the rematch at Illinois probably wouldn't have been as hyped as it might have been.

That IS a shame. I hate the unbalanced schedule in college basketball...it's unfair when two top-ranked teams in the same conference play only once.
