Because none of them have the tradition that the Rose Bowl has. There's a reason they call the Rose Bowl "The Granddaddy Of Them All."

Just on a final note...SIX coaches saw fit to rank Cal below #6 in the final ESPN poll -- four 7ths and two 8ths. That's six more than last week. None of the writers had Cal below 6th. What a fucking embarrassment.

Big 10 champ vs. Pac 10 champ would always have a huge cachet. It did even when it wasn't part of the original Bowl Coalition/Alliance.

Getting back to the topic at hand...he'll get sent back, as he should. Lax as our immigration policies may be, no American would EVER have a refugee claim accepted here.

I think that's just a pro rule. I've never seen that be applied in college. I think it ends up being 4th and goal from the 18.

And we all know what happened to the original.

You can't honestly think that could actually happen, given that you've followed the Big XII for the last two years. Mack Brown hasn't won a single game of any importance at Texas. You know, I do miss MikeSC, if only for the fact that he could argue this much more humourously than I ever could.

The fact is that the Rose Bowl tradition is pretty much finished with it. Everyone is clinging to it but unless we go back to the old system guys I really think it's done. And what I'm pointing out is that the Rose Bowl fans can't seem to handle it when the non Pac-10/Big Ten team win! And if Texas wins there will be an atomic meltdown in Pasadena. You don't understand. I don't like Texas. I don't like their coach. I don't like watching them; I don't like hearing about them. I don't give two shits what happens to them (although, since my dad is a Michigan fan, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing their asses get handed to them). I would've been thrilled to see a Utah vs. Michigan Rose Bowl. I won't be anywhere near a TV when this abomination is on. And when I read the next day about how Mack Brown blew another big game, I'll smile.

Man, the better half and I will be inviting at least one gay couple to our wedding, and I can't wait for the fallout that will ensue. Our families are so ... "open-minded" about these sort of things. I'm already looking forward to the confrontations... I was afraid of the same thing at my wedding -- my wife's cousin and a friend of hers are gay, and I invited a lesbian co-worker who's a friend of mine -- but nothing happened, even though both our fathers are from the old school about homosexuality. Weddings seem to have a way of making people light-hearted about things they wouldn't be normally.

I don't care what they do. I don't want to watch Texas in the Rose Bowl. I don't want to watch Texas, period. It's as simple as that. As for Rodgers' comments...all I see is someone calling a spade a spade.
-
If Texas is playing, I sure as hell won't be watching. Fuck the BCS.

I think Banky has the series lead over you 1-0, but I left my scoresheets at work Friday and won't be able to verify this until Monday. (He beat you last week, but I'm not sure if you two played earlier in the season and I may have made a mistake in posting your Div. records. I doubt I did though.) I beat him back in Week 6. I should have a 4-1 divisional record, with one game left to play against Kansas City.

Wow. He almost made that. What a kick.

Well, I think it's official -- I hold all the tiebreakers in the AFC West. Now I just have to make up that pesky one-game deficit.

The Works in Westboro rules ALL burger joints.

Meh. Let's see you make picks outdoors in the middle of January. Then I'll be impressed.

I've no idea who will win, but I think Alex Smith might have a real shot.

Whatever that blue turf in Boise is made out of.

I might agree with this, if it wasn't already the case in EVERY OTHER major sport in college athletics, including Division I-AA, II and III football. You can't have one set of rules for I-A football and one for all the other sports combined -- that's why we have the mess that exists right now.

Yes, he will. Mack Brown OWNS the coaches poll. Every season Texas makes some kind of absurd points pick up for doing nothing. Even when they would LOSE, Texas would still somehow hold strong in the coaches poll. He literally does own the coaches poll. He and his brother both have votes. How was Cal supposed to counter that?

BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA!! If I can't win this division, it sure as hell won't be because I couldn't beat divisional rivals.

Playoff spot. They'll screw up whatever pick they end up getting, anyway. This is the team that picked Rashaan Salaam and Cade McNown, after all.
