The sad thing is, this was his first post in four months. Should've stayed in bed.
-
Snowing right now in Ottawa.
-
No blowouts today. Of course, Thanksgiving was six weeks ago, but still.
-
Quarterback of the #1 team? Gee, I wonder. And I don't think I've ever once seen you spell his name right.
-
Peyton set a couple more records today -- most five-TD games in a season (broke a tie with Daunte Culpepper this season) and most consecutive four-TD games (Marino in 1984).
-
Probably a wise move on Dungy's part, given the heat they've been taking about supposedly running up the score lately. Peyton's got the TD record locked up now, barring injury. He could break it within two weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get to 60, the way he's throwing.
-
ESPN has him fourth, behind White, Peterson and Leinart, who are all virtually tied.
-
If they can invite Chad Pennington, who went to a MAC school, I would think someone who plays in the Mountain West has a better-than-decent shot at getting invited to the ceremony.
-
6, according to pro-football-reference.com. He did it last year against the Saints.
-
I'm thankful for Lance Armstrong, who has redefined what is humanly possible.
-
CBC loves him though, so he'll probably win. But I agree that he doesn't deserve it. The list at CBC.ca has him in 6th. Tommy Douglas is leading the voting, followed by Terry Fox.

Just from a workrate perspective, it's Jericho, and it's not really close.
-
Maybe. Maybe it makes no difference, as I've said before. Cal may be in a BCS Catch-22: fucked if Texas wins, fucked if Texas loses.
-
Cal isn't guaranteed shit. They only apply the top 4 rule after applying the top 6 rule, and then only if there are any at-large spots left. Cal would be shut out if Boise State makes the top 6.

Doc Rivers had a great quote on the subject: "They said everything to Jackie Robinson in 1947. If he didn't go into the stands, no one is allowed to go into the stands."
-
Wow, here's something I hadn't picked up on...the Big East champ could possibly be worse than we all think: That wouldn't do the Big East any favours in the "Do they really deserve a BCS bid?" discussion. And BC's starting quarterback is out indefinitely...

I think Tampa Bay has a decent shot at rising up and taking a WC spot away from one of the bottom 3 teams at 8-8. My AFC looks identical to yours.
-
If so, they haven't changed that in the Glossary, either. EDIT: Was I the only one who was amused to find out the next leg has a task in an Ikea?

Bret was 39th.

David Suzuki - Prominent environmentalist and geneticist. Longtime host of "The Nature of Things," a science show on CBC. Tommy Douglas - Former socialist premier of Saskatchewan. Regarded as the "father of medicare," his government was the first to introduce prublic health care and hospitalization. Lester B. Pearson - Prime minister, 1963-68. Introduced federal medicare and the Canada Pension Plan. Won a Nobel Peace Prize for his proposal of sending U.N. peacekeepers to the Suez Canal during the Suez Crisis. Pierre Trudeau - Prime minister, 1968-79, 1980-84. Repatriated the Constitution of Canada and introduced the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Introduced official bilingualism. Defeated the Quebec separatist movement in 1980. Wayne Gretzky - NHL hockey player, current owner of the Phoenix Coyotes. Four-time Stanley Cup winner. Owns 61 NHL records, including all-time and single-season leader in goals and assists in both the regular season and playoffs. Ten-time league scoring champion, nine-time league MVP. Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000. Don Cherry - Former NHL coach with Boston and Colorado. Currently a broadcaster on CBC's "Hockey Night in Canada" and other CBC hockey broadcasts. Alexander Graham Bell - Inventor; most famous for inventing the telephone. Was the holder of 18 patents in his lifetime. A pioneer in a precursor to fiber-optic technology. Terry Fox - Cancer patient and leg amputee who ran the "Marathon of Hope," a run across Canada, in 1980, to raise money for cancer research. He was forced to abandon the run just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario after over 3,300 miles, as the cancer had spread to his lungs. He died ten months later. Today, 60 countries hold the Terry Fox Run each September to raise money for cancer research. Sir John A. MacDonald - First prime minister of Canada, 1867-73, 1878-91. One of the Fathers of Confederation, uniting Upper and Lower Canada (Ontario and Quebec) with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Prince Edward Island, Manitoba and British Columbia also joined Canada while he was prime minister. Was responsible for the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Frederick Banting - Doctor, discoverer (with Charles Best) of insulin. Won the 1923 Nobel Prize for medicine for his discovery. Personally I voted for Terry Fox. The only others I considered voting for were Banting and Douglas. I would never cast a vote for Trudeau - I saw him as one of the most divisive prime ministers in Canadian history.

I want the earth to open up and swallow Jonathan. If anyone deserves an early trip to the fifth circle of hell, it's him.

Limited time? Bobby Bowden's 75 and he's still winning ACC titles. He'll have the Gamecocks in the championship game within 3 years.

So could I, you know.

1 (1) USC 2 (2) Oklahoma 3 (3) Auburn 4 (4) Cal 5 (5) Texas 6 (6) Utah 7 (9) Boise State 8 (11) Georgia 9 (12) Miami 10 (10) Louisville No change at the top this week. The gap between Utah and Boise State is cavernous, meaning that Utah is guaranteed a BCS bowl. Now, the interesting thing this week is the Texas/Texas A&M game. Texas was able to close the gap with Cal this week (naturally, given that Texas didn't play and Cal only blew the doors off Stanford -- gotta love that BCS!), meaning that a win over A&M could very well put Texas over Cal for the #4 spot, which would mean an automatic bid for the Longhorns. However... A Texas loss could also very well spell the end of Cal's BCS hopes, as it could put Boise State 6th in the final BCS standings. This would mean that Utah and Boise State, as non-BCS conference schools ranked in the top 6, would both get into a BCS game, leaving Cal out in the cold, and the Rose Bowl without a PAC-10 representative. Very interesting...
