I didn't see this anywhere...the full transcript got released last night, and the real plan comes out:

That's such a naive viewpoint that it's laughable. They couldn't give two shits about the Pierre Dagenaises and Brian Pothiers of the world, so long as the Joe Sakics and Jaromir Jagrs can continue to make $7 million-plus. If they were really interested in their entire membership, then the wouldn't be holding out for something that's not coming, and letting their lesser-paid members sit and rot. As for the European league fiasco, the NHL players are stealing jobs from players who really need them. Period. A hundred grand is a pittance to those guys, but it feeds the families of the guys who've gotten kicked out. It stinks, and those players should be ashamed of themselves, because you know they'd be screaming bloody murder if the league brought in replacement players -- which is the exact same thing. Perfect.

Something's wrong here...

1. (1) USC 2. (2) Oklahoma 3. (4) Auburn 4. (8) Cal 5. (7) Wisconsin 6. (6) Utah 7. (10) Texas 8. (11) Tennessee 9. (9) Georgia 10. (3) Miami Oklahoma got a HUGE bump in the computers for finally beating a good team on the road -- every computer has them ranked either first or second, whereas previous weeks has seen them ranked as low as tenth in one computer poll. Despite losing ground in the human polls, as USC stole some first-place votes this week, Oklahoma solidified its hold on second place. Auburn is now ranked third in all eight polls this week. Hard to say if winning out will give them enough of an edge over OU in the computers to edge out the Sooners if they both stay unbeaten through the conference title games. Utah's edge over Texas is tenuous. Utah's strength of schedule isn't going to get any better in the coming weeks, and Texas could conceivably edge out Utah for 6th if they win out. I would throw up if the Longhorns backdoored their way into a BCS bowl over an undefeated Utah team. If Tennessee can win the SEC championship, they could also unseat the Utes from sixth, as they are ranked fourth in the computers, despite being 9th and 11th in the other polls.
-
Of those two alone, I'd choose Peterson -- just an amazing season so far. Restricting it in any sense to upperclassmen is just silly.
-
How DARE you use logic and common sense in the face of the BCS!!
-
Dunno, but the math is wrong. Those states plus 92 equal a 269-269 tie. He did win Iowa and Hawaii. He also lost West Virginia.
-
That's not an over-under. I say... Don't know: +700 Know: -800

Looking at Texas' remaining schedule, I somehow find it difficult to believe that Texas will escape with wins over both OSU and A&M. They're the only team with a real shot to take out Utah, since a Georgia or Tennessee one-loss team would mean that Auburn has been bumped off. I'm also wondering if the BCS committee would give Utah a BCS berth anyway should Utah finish a very close 7th, rather than risk the public outcry that an undefeated team didn't get in... *wakes up* Nah.

Some notes: Corey Hirsch called out the players going over to Europe, calling them "scabs" for taking jobs from players already there. Rob Ray was quoted in yesterday's Ottawa Sun as saying that he'd be a replacement player in a second, and there are still about 10 guys he knows that would beat him to it. Pierre Maguire expanded on that this morning on his Team 1200 morning show segment, saying there are probably 100 current players that would cross a picket line. He also backed up Hirsch's viewpoint, although not agreeing with the use of the word "scabs." I agree completely with Hirsch on this one, although he's being flamed (predictably) by current NHL players in Europe. I wonder how they'd feel if (when) the NHL declares an impasse and starts up play with replacement players. The NHLPA is a bunch of two-faced hypocrites when it comes to shit like this, and it's the main reason I have no sympathy for most of them.

I think Cal has clearly separated themselves from the rest of that pack. They played the #1 team in the country down to the wire, and convincingly beat a good ASU team. That can't happen unless Utah loses somewhere along the line. Utah is an automatic at-large team if they finish in the top 6, which is a given if they finish undefeated. Could happen, but I think a one-loss Auburn team would still be ahead of a one-loss Cal team, especially if the one loss was to Georgia this week, and was avenged in the SEC title game.
-
Looks like I need a Jets blowout tomorrow night.
-
Not entirely good...the win over A&M is meaning less and less by the week. They could get knocked down by the computers because of this. They should still be in the top 6, because they'll move up to 9th or 8th in the polls, but I wouldn't count on them being any higher than 6th when the new standings come out tomorrow.
-
Another for the "How stupid is the BCS?" file... Assuming Auburn ends up going undefeated, Georgia would prefer not winning the SEC East. Tennessee winning the division, then losing to Auburn in the SEC championship, would give Georgia its best shot at a BCS bowl.

Whole bunch of academic fraud along with a player getting murdered by another player (who has since been diagnosed as a legit nutcase) The real scummy part was when the head coach tried to cover the murder up.
-
It was in the old Big 8. Wrong The old Big 8 is the current Big 12 minus the four Texas schools (UT, AnM, Tech and Baylor) You're right. Scratch that...I don't know why Baylor is in the Big XII.
-
It was in the old Big 8.
-
CBS just showed the Big XII standings. My God, the North is horrible. Nebraska will have to win out to avoid having a North champion with at least 3 losses in-conference.
-
Or it could be that they're playing an excellent team at a neutral site. FSU is. 6-3 Maryland right now.
-
No, you didn't. Not once.

This is why we're not professional sports bettors: Boise State 69, Hawaii 3.

Here's something I wouldn't mind seeing: Now that's pretty damn interesting. It's possible, though not probable, that this would result in a Bush/Edwards White House.
