Miracle On Ice and McGwire are 1-2 in some order.
-
Johnny Moss won the first two as well.

YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought for dead certain this was a NE leg. I was getting psyched to see them get mugged by Phil, but that was just AMAZING. I so want Chip and Kim to win...which, of course, means they'll finish fourth, just like every other past race darlings.

Another new twist I don't like. It added a lot of strategy to the race not to know if the FF had been grabbed already or not. Plus, if they had done that last season, we never would've gotten the epic Kelly & Jon/Millie & Chuck showdown at the end of leg 9.

^ Further proof that these are all random. I can't imagine many more moments that were more astonishing or incredible than this one.

I can just see that reunion... "Hey guys, anything happen while I was in Anaheim?" "Oh, nothing much..."

He has never stolen money from me directly.

Wow, I was sure this was bound for the top 3.

Summerslam is today?

And I've watched him and say he isn't a good goalie. Is that somehow more meaningful to you?

I never said that Cloots is great because of his record. But ur blind if u think an average goalie can win 30 games 3 years in a row. Only him and Broduer have done this, no other goalie on elite teams have. The Cancucks havn't been the second best team in teh past three years. Average? Well, he's certainly not elite (keep in mind that only forty-some goalies make the official stats each season): - In 2001-02 and 2002-03, Cloutier was LAST in save percentage among all goalies with 30+ wins, and in the bottom quarter of that group in GAA (16 goalies in 01/02, 11 in 02/03). - He was 19th overall in GAA and 33rd in save % in 2001-02; 16th and 24th in 2002-03. - Not coincidentally, the Canucks led the league in goals for in 2001-02, and were second in the league in 2002-03. - Cloutier was 6th in save % among the 9 goalies this past season who had 30+ wins, and tied for 7th in GAA. Only two of those 9 teams scored more goals than Vancouver. (He was 17th in GAA and 18th in save % overall.) What does all this add up to? Awesome offense, good defense, woefully average goaltender. I have said this a bunch of times, anybody can throw random stats out there to makie him look bad. I could do the same to make him look good, but I wont. Stats judge teams, not goalies. OK, prove it. Make him look good. For the past three years, he one fo only 2 goalies to win 30 games. He is not a one-hit wonder nad has been consistant. And if you want other stats, all I have to do is point to the three games he played before he got hurt this year in the palyoffs. That's IT??? Wins are about as meaningful a stat in hockey as they are in baseball when assessing performance...that is to say, not very much. Survey says...everyone else wins this argument. What arguement? My arguement is that stats dont tell you how good a goalie is, not that I can manipulate stats they way I like. I've helpfully bolded the part where you said you could manipulate stats the way you like. Our argument was that Cloutier wasn't a good goalie, and we have no evidence to the contrary...and I'm not using stats, I'm using rankings.

A pennant is winning the league. A pennant race is the effort getting there, which includes the regular season. It used to be one of the primary events, but its been watered down thanks to the wild card. If such is the case, Seattle has no pennant. Indians won in '95. The question involves pennant races. Even if the chase is ultimately futile, a player's individual achievements in such an endeavour deserve analyzation. In this case, Seattle overcame a double-digit lead to win the division. Because they won the division, the Mariners earned MILLIONS in extra revenue thanks to the postseason. Martinez was largely responsible for that. I think he's referring to where you said

Today's tidbits (from TSN): - Scott Niedermayer got $7 mil a year awarded to him in arbitration, a record amount. - Sharks agreed to terms with G Evgeni Nabokov.

Dammit. They were both off a bit...didn't see that one coming at all, especially given Alonzo crushed John in the last H2H.
-
Down to Alonzo and John. Didn't we all pick them from the start anyway? Seems like a waste of eight weeks.
-
These are the stupidest signs ever.
-
Man, you were so close, too.

Dat Phan's performing tonight. 2-1 says he won't have any new material from last year.
-
Doubtful. The Yankees didn't have much pitching, besides Jimmy Key. The playoff rotation of Key, Jim Abbott, Melido Perez and Terry Mulholland wasn't scaring anyone. The Expos had Ken Hill in his best year, a young Pedro, and Jeff Fassero and Kirk Rueter back when they could pitch, plus Wetteland and Rojas in the pen and the best outfield in baseball, bar none (Grissom, Alou, Walker). And that's some pretty pitiful Canadian baiting. At least put some throught into it.

If by "them" you mean the owners, then yes. The players union filed an injunction that was upheld by the Court of Appeals, ending the strike.

Go to CBS.com and look at the TAR Insider videos. They are jaw-droppingly unaware of their own unlikability. Even the editors think so, given the caption on their first clip:

Alonzo all the way. Easily the most polished and consistent onstage performer in the competition. Heffron is close, but not quite there.

I want Mirna gone from this race in the worst way. She has made self-delusion into an art form. I've got news for you, honey...no one thinks you're anywhere near as good as you think you are, and everyone hates your ever-loving guts because you are the most shrill, obnoxious, annoying, self-important person this race has ever seen.
