Why did you name yourself THAT?
CanadianChris replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in General Chat
I'm a Lithuanian named Sergei. Pretty self-explanatory, really. -
Right, because it's not like the Canadiens won any road games against Boston in round 1, or won the series IN Boston. Oh, wait...they DID.

Blue Jays - choking the 1987 AL East away to the Tigers, losing six straight one-run games and blowing a 4 1/2 game lead in the final week. Broncos - losing to the Jaguars (a recent expansion team) in the 1997 divisional playoffs after posting the AFC's best record. Senators - losing to the Leafs in Game 7 of the conference semis in 2002...then watching the Leafs gag against an eminently beatable Carolina team in the conference final. Lakers - losing to the Rockets in 1986. I guess. Not many heartbreaking moments for these guys.

He did an interview in Men's Health a couple of months ago, and said he was around 230-240.

I'd almost rather Canada came in second or third than have to accept that abomination. That's worse than what passes for art these days.

Stop blaming other people. It was just an unbelieveable shot. Fish did it all in one motion. I don't care how many motions he did it in. It was impossible if the clock starts when it touched his hands. They didn't start the clock right, he hit a amazing shot. But doesn't make it any less bullshit. The league put in the rule long ago to take care of situations like that. If there's at least .4 on the clock, you can catch and shoot all in one motion, and it will count if it falls. Plus, looking at the replay, Fisher clearly got that off.

So, basically, you're taking the convoluted system you've had in place for the last seven or eight years, and almost completely scrapping it in favour of more or less what was in place before? Fuck that shit. Let's see a playoff.
-
Then they have to change the rules. You only need four-tenths to get off a catch and shoot. Any less and it has to be a tip-in on the inbounds pass, but if you have .4 on the clock, a catch and shoot will count.

To be fair, the Habs had no choice, because Roy had already announced he would never wear the CH again. They were going to get fleeced no matter what. At least Thibault looked like he could be a decent goalie (which he turned out to be, just not in Montreal). Pretty much any trade the Leafs made during the Harold Ballard era turned out to be a disaster, so I'll just mention the four most egregious: 3/3/68 To Detroit: LW Frank Mahovlich, C Pete Stemkowski, C Garry Unger, rights to D Carl Brewer To Toronto: C Norm Ullman, RW Paul Henderson, RW Floyd Smith, D Doug Barrie 12/29/79 To Colorado: RW Lanny McDonald, D Joel Quenneville To Toronto: LW Pat Hickey, RW Wilf Paiement 1/20/82 To Philadelphia: C Darryl Sittler To Toronto: C Rich Costello, 2nd round draft pick (Peter Ihnacak), future considerations (Ken Strong) 11/7/88 To Montreal: RW Russ Courtnall To Toronto: RW John Kordic, 6th round draft pick (Michael Doers) As far as the Blue Jays go, the Clemens for Wells, Bush and Lloyd trade turned out pretty badly. The Bill Caudill and Tom Candiotti trades were also poor.

I chose ESPN. Fox is horrible (Terry Bradshaw is absolutely unlistentoable, and I can't stand James Brown), and CBS is boring as shit, especially without Deion.

Great talent, but poorly booked. Typical misuse of talent by WWE. **3/4

Define great. "Great" doesn't have to be "grandiose." I managed to find someone I absolutely adore, and make her feel the same way about me and convince her to marry me. Simple, but I'd call that great. Great is all in how you see it. Plus, I'm practicing to become the World Champion of Poker, but that's a whole other story.

Both Sides Of The Story (Both Sides) I Wish It Would Rain Down (...But Seriously) Another Day In Paradise (...But Seriously) Including Genesis, my favourite would probably be Jesus He Knows Me (from We Can't Dance). High-larious parody of televangelists, and the video was great.

Who is your teams greatest player of all time?
CanadianChris replied to Vern Gagne's topic in Sports
I'd go with Warren Moon. MLB Blue Jays - George Bell Expos - Andre Dawson NFL Vikings - Fran Tarkenton Broncos - John Elway NHL Senators - Daniel Alfredsson Maple Leafs - Frank Mahovlich NBA Lakers - Magic Johnson (damn, that's a hard one) College football Syracuse - Jim Brown College basketball Syracuse - Derrick Coleman -
Most old-time Flyers fans would say Bobby Clarke (hock PTOOEY) or Bernie Parent. I don't think he'd even be in my top 5. Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Denis Savard and Jeremy Roenick all come to mind before Amonte. Either Darryl Sittler or Frank Mahovlich.

Cycling is not an individual sport either. Each cyclist is part of a team, and the leader of the team doesn't win if the supporters aren't strong enough for the task.
-
I'm going with: Calgary in 6 Tampa in 5

That was especially classic for the way he ended it: "Praise be to Allah."

That you can even sit there and say that LA is a media creation boggles the mind. Have you ever watched the damn race?
-
I've seen him cut and dance through a group of cyclists like they were standing still. Depends on how far. Armstrong used to be a champion triathlete, too. You took it way too far. Why MUST someone be able to throw to be considered a great athlete? Doesn't mean they're not all right on the money, either. What he's been able to do is superhuman, and if you'd ever watched him race the Tour de France closely, you'd know that, too.
