FINALLY, the breakthrough against Belfour that the Sens needed. If Nieuwendyk and Sundin have to miss any time, that series is over in 6. Coul someone please pin this?

This definition is actually in the Oxford English Dictionary: bling-bling n. synonym for expensive, often flashy jewelry sported mostly by African American hip-hop artists and middle class Caucasian adolescents.

Ed Belfour = Toronto Maple Leafs. I can seek some solace in the fact that he can't keep playing like this forever. At least, I hope not.

The 2000 Vikings went 11-5. You're thinking of the 1998 Vikings, who went 15-1 but lost to the fucking Falcons in the NFC title game (which should go here as well). It would've set up an amazing Super Bowl against the also-nearly-undefeated Broncos.

Did Scotty Thurman give it up? Or is he playing over in Europe?

It makes parole harder to get in that person's lifetime. You can't get parole after 10 or 20 years on a 200-year sentence, like you could on a life sentence. Figure that one out.

There's still a team in Chicago?
-
Sadly, no...the refs gift-wrapped this one for Toronto after all Pat Quinn's bellyaching. They refs felt bad enough for Ottawa that they tried to give Ottawa a couple of even-up opportunities, but no dice.

Iginla gets his first career playoff goal...1-0 Calgary early.

It will if you're playing the Dodgers.

The '62 Mets, hands down. They: - Still hold the modern record for losses (120). - Had 4 of 5 starters with 17 or more losses, and 2 with 20 or more. - Had a team OPS of 678 (beyond pitiful), and a team ERA over 5 in a year when only 2 other teams in the league had an ERA over 4. - Allowed 120 more runs than anyone else. - Had only one regular who hit over .275 (Richie Ashburn, also the team's only All-Star -- and he didn't even qualify for the batting title). Sure, they were an expansion team, but even expansion teams nowadays aren't this bad. I mean, when your own manager exclaims, "Can't anyone play this game?!?" you know you're pretty bad.

THIS is the Senators mascot, Spartacat:

Only one road team won in the first set of Game 1s. I hope that doesn't mean that the first round will go according to form...
-
Thank God. The sooner Brodeur is out of the playoffs, the better. There are only three teams I can see tripping up Ottawa in the East. They're playing one, and Boston and New Jersey are the others.

Good recovery by the Sens after an average first period. The Leafs stopped playing team hockey around the time the Sens took the lead in the second. I will be stoked if I have the opportunity to watch the Sens go up 3-0 in person Monday night.

No chance of that...Disney is contracted to carry the games, and they damn well better. 4-2 Vancouver on a goal off a delayed penalty call.

With the twenty-fourth pick in the 2004 TSM NFL Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos select: Will Poole, cornerback, USC Trading for standout cornerback Champ Bailey was a start, but Denver still has concerns in their secondary. Poole does not have as much college experience as some would like, but he clearly showed skills that could see him start at cornerback for Denver this year. Poole was an integral contributor to USC's national championship season, and had his best game when it mattered most: in the Rose Bowl against Michigan, making 10 tackles and two sacks, and forcing a fumble.

Chris, you going for the Flames to do well out of the west? I am I have them getting beat by Detroit in the second round. I can't say I'm actively rooting for them...I've never really been a Calgary fan (being someone who cheered for Edmonton in the 80s), but I'm not really cheering against them either, since they are a Canadian team.

WOW!!! From 2-0 to 2-2 within a minute in Vancouver!

NICE article by Bill Simmons absolutely savaging the Pistons for picking Darko over Carmelo: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/040407

The anthem singer in Vancouver holding the mic up and letting the crowd sing the middle stanza of O Canada makes my list of the 10 Coolest Things I Have Seen This Year (just like last year). 1-0 Vancouver on an early goal by Rucinsky.
