I don't follow. I think what he means is that they might finish ahead of Baltimore. no..thats not possible. They might not finish in last place if say, Toronto does, but the Devil Rays won't finish ahead of the Orioles. That's not possible either. Hell, the Orioles themselves don't have a hope of finishing ahead of Toronto.

A little over 18 years for me. I went to a new school when I was 11, and everyone watched wrestling, so I did, too. I kept watching because they wrote some pretty good storylines back then (from a mark's perspective, anyway). Savage turning on Hogan was pretty intense, even though I knew it was coming.

Who the hell is THAT?! Michelle Branch. She should sue anyone who tries to take a candid shot of her.

I think I remember that article. It was from the New Republic site, IIRC.

Good...Kyoto wasn't worth the paper it was printed on anyway. Maybe now they can work out something meaningful. But I won't hold my breath.

Boston is almost a cinch to win the Northeast at this point. The playoff matchups in the East will very likely look like this: Tampa Bay vs. NY Islanders Boston vs. Montreal Philadelphia vs. New Jersey Ottawa vs. Toronto Aside from having tickets to the first playoff game in Ottawa, I shall be glued to my TV every night watching these mind-blowing matchups.

What to expect from the new RAW and SD talent
CanadianChris replied to JoeDirt's topic in The WWE Folder
Especially given that he got a solid reaction from the crowd. How many recent RAW wrestlers have gotten a crowd to chant their name? -
Not a chance. The season doesn't start for another week.
-
HELL yes. I'd give my right arm to volunteer at a US Open.
-
Not exactly -- McSorley could have applied to the league for reinstatement at the start of the season. He just never did.
-
As long as Prusek's back holds up, the Sens should be fine. They should be getting Anton Volchenkov and Todd White back this week, which will help tremendously.

I like it. I was never a fan of the old IC belt, to be honest. It just looked so average, run of the mill, IMO. As opposed to the spectacularly-designed belt they replaced it with?

Have some apples with your oranges. Baseball gets done in a month because teams can play games on two or three consecutive days, and has only eight teams. College basketball finishes in three weeks because they play one-and-done. If they played every matchup best-of-7, the season would be never-ending. Basketball and hockey are fine just the way they are (taking TWO months, not three). The Stanley Cup playoffs, in particular, are the most exciting playoffs around. No need to change anything there.

If I'm not mistaken, that's one of the hosts of Romain Sato (who's from the Central African Republic).

Well, I made two of my Elite 8 picks, anyway (UConn and Xavier)...the way Xavier is playing, I wouldn't be surprised if they won the whole damn thing.
-
Agreed. The 2003-04 Northeast Division is easily the greatest division ever...even better than the 1992-93 Adams Division.

It's a lot of A and a bit of B. The real brains in the Oilers outfit was John Muckler -- as evidenced by the success of the Sabres and Senators on his watch.

Where does Martin Brodeur rank on the All-time
CanadianChris replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Sports
Sure, he's won three Cups, but how many Conn Smythes? Zero. Who won those trophies when the Devils won the Cup? Claude Lemieux (a defensive forward), Scott Stevens (a defenseman) and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (the OPPOSING goalie). How many Vezinas? One (exactly as many as Jim Carey and Olaf Kolzig, for those keeping track). Roy won three; Hasek, five. Hell, Ed Belfour's won more (two). No, I say the championships are a misleading argument. Take him out of the system, and he doesn't do nearly as well. His best attribute is his puck-handling, which is why he fits in the Jersey system so well. -
Where does Martin Brodeur rank on the All-time
CanadianChris replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Sports
He'd be 10th on my list, behind (in no particular order) Glenn Hall, Jacques Plante, Terry Sawchuk, Patrick Roy, Vladislav Tretiak, Ken Dryden, Dominik Hasek, Grant Fuhr, and Billy Smith. He'll probably have a lot of records by the time his career is over, but it's hard to compare him to other great goalies, because he plays behind a defensive system more stifling than any other. -
Fantastic match. **** easily. The second-best WM match ever to that point, and Hogan's best WM match (yes, better than the Warrior match). I have to admit, I hate the finish now (the kickout WITH AUTHORITY at 1 1/2 was ridiculous) but aside from that, it was just a tremendously well-booked and well-paced match by the two of the three biggest stars in the industry at that point, with great commentary to boot (Jesse saying, "Ooh, there's a Jesse The Body move right there!" as Savage choked Hogan out with his wrist tape was CLASSIC). And, of course, the 16-month-long slow-burn angle, starting from when Hogan saved Savage from Honky and the Harts on SNME, was one of the best long-term angles they've ever done, right up there with the Hogan-Orndorff angle. What more could you ask for?

HUGE bounce-back shutout wins for the Sens and Leafs tonight. Both teams looked like the Cup favourites they should be, instead of the first-round victims they were on Tuesday night. Lalime, in particular, looked sensational in net for Ottawa (told you it was maddening to watch him). It's amazing what having a good defense in front will do for a goalie's confidence.
-
thats the only way that prissy boy game should be played. Spoken like someone who's never even seen a lacrosse game. That game's brutal...worse than hockey at times.
-
Thoughts??? I think HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Lalime has never been a good puck handler. The nights when he does well are the nights where he can just concentrate on stopping the puck (like in the Colorado game) rather than trying to be a third defenseman. The problem is that the defensive effort by the Sens has been so crappy the last few weeks that that's exactly what he has to try and do, thus making things worse, and causing his teammates to lose confidence in him, and thus for him to lose confidence in himself. I never thought I'd say this, but I would be quite surprised if this team makes it past the first round. The goaltending isn't good enough, and the team as a whole is playing more nervously as a result.
