Actually, that's untrue. They are 6-6-3 against the SE division. They are surprisingly best against the Atlantic Division, clocking in at a superb 12-2. Considering the Atlantic contains the Islanders, Rangers and Pengiuns, as well as the mercurial Flyers and Devils, I wouldn't consider that incredibly surprising.

A Quick Question For Any American

I'm guessing there was a lot of love for Conan O'Brien the other night.

    A-Rod traded to the Yankees?

And he's going to play at SkyDome just as much as he is at Fenway, so this worries me a lot. He owns the Jays. They've turned over their pitching staff quite a bit from last year, though. Only two of last year's starters are returning (Halladay and Towers), and there are a few new relievers as well.

Ew, NO. The Expos situation has been an unmitigated disaster for all involved. The league does need to force a sale, however. And how great would it be to see the entire Northeast division make the playoffs?

In the Blackhawks latest move to get rid of anyone even remotely talented, the Predators acquired Steve Sullivan for a pair of second-round draft picks yesterday. I think Nashville could actually make the playoffs this year. Chicago? Not so much.

How about put it beside the one they already have?

No worries here...I don't do flame wars. They're a pointless waste of my time. If I decide someone is too annoying or stubborn to argue with, I just ignore that poster and move on. If you expect me to "debate" asinine statements like "Shawn Michaels isn't even in the top 50 of WWE workers" for four pages, you're sadly mistaken.

    Greg Maddux signs with Yankees

Sure there is. People make more money in NYC than in other places. Go talk to KC and see how much the locals make there. Then the owners have to adjust ticket prices to suit the people who live around their team. You really don't know much of sports economics if you think every team can openly throw $200mill out to players and not go bankrupt. Not everyone but Carl Poland, BILLIONAIRE owner of the Twins could if he wanted but he chooses not to. Not defending Steinbrenner as the Yankees pull a profit every year even with their payroll. If he had to handle a small market team and dip into his own money I don't know if he'd be so generous. There are plenty of owners out there who have the money to spend but just simply don't want to. It's a shame because the Poland's, David Glass', and Steve Schott's of the world could help prevent the Yankees (and Red Sox for that matter, how soon you Boston fans forget) from signing and trading for so many high priced players. The Yankees don't only sign these players because they have the money, they also sign them because other teams are unwilling to pay the going rate for many of them. There's a huge difference between spending within your budget and spending to throw money away. The Yankees will recoup every cent of the $200 million they're paying their roster this year. No other team can say that. The Yankees are the only team that can spend $200 million on players AND still say they're running their club like a business. Boston could've had A-Rod, but couldn't fork over the extra cash needed to get him, while the Yankees could. THAT is the big difference.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Like that time you complained about a match that you wouldn't see on TV for another month? That was a real logical one right there. Fact is, you complain so often and so vociferously about so many different things, that it gets to the point where people stop listening to what you have to say and just want you to stop typing for a little while.

    Greg Maddux signs with Yankees

Except for the fact that Steinbrenner has revenue streams no one else has or could ever produce, due to the Yankees being who they are and being situated where they are. Fun fact: The Yankees spend more on players now than a third of the teams are worth in total.

    I missed No Way Out

Eh, I wasn't ordering it anyway. I'll make sure to write Vince and tell him it was strictly because of the crappy undercard, though.

    I missed No Way Out

Actually, the main event is on KaZaa. I downloaded it today and saved myself 40 bucks. That's the only thing that looked worth watching.

    Liberals falling in the polls.

I can't see anyone but Stephen Harper winning the Conservative Party leadership. Being someone who works in government and has a fair understanding of how these things work, this is a prime example of the media trying to stir up shit on a slow news day. The Auditor General's reporty pretty much said that the merits of the programs funded weren't in question, just that the government broke a few rules in getting them funded. Anyone who's worked in government knows that sometimes you have to take the long way around to get to where you want to go with money. A few wrists will be slapped, but nothing major is going to come out of this, and the Liberals will come out of it with their majority government, as they would have before.

    The Ballshot

Maybe now...but my favourite is from Royal Rumble 92, when he, in the immortal words of Bobby Heenan, "tried to lift the Undertaker." Close second to the one he gave Bulldog in the very early stages of the Rumble.

    The McMahon involvement at WMXX

I'm betting we see Vince in the Kane/UT match. It's about the only one where it would fit the storyline.

Plus, Koloff was 5'11", by all accounts.

    Save WrestleMania XX's Main Event

Right now, the "contract" reads HHH vs. Shawn Michaels. They haven't made the complete match yet.

Eddie Guerrero speaks on Title Victory

Shawn was only 5'10 and 227. An inch can make all the difference my friend. Ask your mom. Anyhow, does anybody know who the last WWE champion smaller than Eddy was? Such a man does not exist. Jericho would be the only one who's close.

    Few WWE Notes

She was fined for showing up late to a house show last week. She probably has heat with the office.

Will you notice an NHL Shutdown?

You missed all the changes they made at the meetings in Las Vegas during the All-Star break, then. They've already addressed this issue. And hell yes, I'd miss the NHL. I'd watch the CHL if it was put on in its place, but not the AHL. They need to implement an NBA-style agreement where the players are guaranteed x% of league revenues in salary, or else there are implications for the league (along with some kind of cap). I didn't miss the changes. I'm wondering if the changes are really go make any difference at all. The league can increase the goalies padding but has long as a majority of teams are defense first. Also, what about contraction does it happen? Is it even being discussed? Goalie padding is probably the least significant change. The biggest one by far will be not allowing goalies to handle the puck behind the goal line. That's going to increase scoring, if only because it deprives the Devils of the biggest key to their whole system. I have heard nothing at all on the contraction front.
  22. CanadianChris

If your conference is really tough....

Most people usually just look at out-of-conference record. Look at the ACC in basketball this year...seven of the nine teams have two losses or fewer in out-of-conference play, yet only four of those teams (plus NC State) will likely go to the tournament. North Carolina went 10-1 in non-conference play, with a win over No. 1 UConn, yet will likely get a lower seed in the NCAAs due to (currently) having a losing conference record. Virginia went 10-1 in non-conference and doesn't have a prayer of making the tournament, aside from snagging the ACC tournament. THAT is a tough conference. They routinely go seven or eight teams deep.

    This year's Marlins/Angels

Any last shred of hope I had for the Blue Jays being that team went out the window yesterday. I'd probably say the Royals, but the Padres also have an outside shot.
