See that's complete bullshit. Because they are playing great college football. If they had the best game ever then they had the best game ever. And it was because both teams were THAT good. I'm not judging how artistic and aesthetically pleasing the game is. So it was a great game -- so what?? The final fact is, one of those teams barely beat the other, while the team above both of them had no trouble beating a comparable opponent. That team must be better. I don't care if LSU beats the spit out of Oklahoma. Why? Because if they do that then they DESERVE to be called the National Champion. But since everyone is so hard into this "BCS is unfair! Fuck the Sugar Bowl!" bullshit they aren't going to get there credit. Why? Because everyone can't just fucking sit back and go "Well we have two national champions. Two teams were that good." That's because sports fans aren't conditioned to think that way. Name me one other league in one other sport where two teams can split a league championship. Again, for full disclosure...one by four touchdowns in the biggest game of their season, and the other by 12 on their home field to an UNRANKED team at the time.

Apparently you didn't watch college football in 1997. Because that year what the #2 and 3 teams did mattered plenty when it came to creating a split of the national championship. What's especially funny about all this "human national champions" nonsense is that the main reason USC is ranked #1 in the polls and not LSU is because they had a better team last season and got a better preseason ranking this year because of it. Was that the year the coaches gave Tom Osborne a national championship as his going-away present?

The only unbiased (or least biased) solution is to implement a playoff and let the best teams settle it on the field. And then there will be a controversy that the teams chosen for the playoffs aren't deserving. And who belongs there. I'd rather there be an argument over who's #8 or who's #16 than who's #2. The #9 or #17 team wouldn't have nearly the beef that the #3 team would (DOES, this year and 3 of the past 4). The controversy would be non-existant.

And so is USC. That's the "co" in co-national champions. As for Keith, he's a Pac 10 announcer. It doesn't surprise me a bit that he'd favour USC some in his commentary. I didn't get all the "OMG USC R00LZ OU DR00LZ" in the commentary that you picked up, though.

USC unquestionably has the best wideouts in the country. The catches I've seen them make this season have been unbelievable.
