All-Time NBA Draft (THE RESULTS ARE IN THE FIRST POST)
CanadianChris replied to Brett Favre's topic in Sports
Third place, not bad. And more first place votes than anyone. But who ranked me 3rd from the bottom? -
Hey, funny you should mention that... Westboro Baptists attempt to picket victim's funeral At least we can stop some of these pieces of shit at the border.

2008 Bored's College Football Pick 'Em Sign Up Thread
CanadianChris replied to Bored's topic in Sports
That's cool, I'll at least be in a hotel room with (presumably) a decent high-speed connection then. This has the makings of my worst start ever, though. I don't think I've ever lost the first week of the season. -
Are you serious? Fifty bucks for a preseason game? I'd have trouble paying that much for a regular season game.

When will the week 1 slate be posted? I'll be sailing somewhere off the Alaskan coast during that week, and my internet access will be extremely limited...if there's any way to get my picks in before the 24th, I'd appreciate it. -

OK, I declare MYself the winner. -
I'm looking forward to these Games a lot more than 2004, for whatever reason. I'll be watching swimming, volleyball, triathlon, kayaking, probably the cycling road races and some of the track and field. I might catch some of the basketball, but I don't really have a rooting interest and I'm going to miss the gold medal game, so whatever.

Wow. Welcome back to the Dark Ages.

That's it in a nutshell, really. Canada isn't facing a housing crisis nearly as severe as that in the States, because subprime mortgages make up a comparatively tiny percentage of all mortgages here in Canada, thanks to tighter regulation. And because of the economic downturn, rates just aren't going to increase much anytime soon. Be careful of rent to own. Make sure you have the option to buy written into the agreement, so you can walk away if things don't work out. Also, be aware that you can lose your entire investment if the seller loses control of the house (i.e. through foreclosure).

Jordan became a global icon by winning six titles in eight years and being the best player in the history of the sport, all on American soil. (Well except for the two Gold Medals, but you see the point) LeBron's best chance is here in the states. Yeah, but he wants to become the first athlete worth a billion or something like that. That's his ultimate goal and he's stated it in interviews before. WTF? That's a pretty crass statement. Besides, Tiger Woods will be sports' first billionaire, and it won't even be a close race.

I'm hardly an expert on puro, but from reading Herb Kunze and such, it was pretty apparent that New Japan was doing better business than any company in the world for at least part of the 90s.

No, you get the ultimate punishment -- Favre will lead them to 7-8 wins and a pick somewhere in the early teens.

PETA tries to run ad comparing beheading to animal slaughter What a bunch of sick, twisted fucks. Every time I think PETA can't sink any lower, something like this happens.

These were my rankings. If I remember, the top four could have gone any way, and 5-10 could have as well: 1. Excitable Boys 2. Bobby and Bossy's Boys 3. Xtreme Dream Team 4. Gordie's Gang 5. Canadian Guitarists 6. Jamaican Vocations 7. Frozen Pond Scum 8. Five for Fighting 9. Northern Lights Five 10. Champs Are Here 11. Clorox Leetch 12. Dr. Coffey's 100% All Natural Good Time Family Hockey Solution 13. Calgary Silly Nannies

Sweet. I knew once I got Lafleur and Shore in the second and third rounds that I had a shot at winning. I think they were the guys that dropped the most from where they should have been of anyone in the first four rounds. I find it funny that this finished before the NBA draft. And what the hell was up with EHME posting a team description (when everyone else had already voted...) and then not voting?

I can't see rates going up nearly enough over the next 5 years that a fixed rate would be the better option. Historically, you'll pay less in interest with a variable rate mortgage. My wife and I buying a house for my parents to live in next year. We just went to a mortgage broker and got preapproved for 4.2% variable. We were quite impressed.

Because at this stage, the Bucs are more of a contender then the Jets... Sure the NY media would bust a load with Brett Favre coming there, but that's not what Favre wants, he wants to win. And with Tampa he has the best chance at doing that. Plus he doesn't have to play in a hard divison like the Jets. The AFC East is anything but hard. Sure, you've got the two Patriot ass-kickings to look forward to, but Miami is terrible, and the Bills are pretty mediocre. Looking at the Jets' schedule, there's a lot of winnable games on there.

He'd need at least that much to make up for the lost endorsement income.

Most reliable external hard drive brands?
CanadianChris replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in Technology
I have a Maxtor. Well, I have the insides of a Maxtor. Something failed inside the drive so that it couldn't be recognized by any computer, but the drive itself still had all the information on it. I had someone transfer the drive to a new case and it still works fine. -
I'll take my second defensive end here: Leonard Marshall, RDE Sacks 83.5 (12 postseason) Games 177 INT 2 Forced fumbles 9 Fumble recoveries 6 3x Pro Bowl selection (1985, 1986, 1991) 2x All-Pro selection (1985, 1986) 2x Super Bowl champion (XXI, XXV) Most memorable, of course, for the pictured hit in the 1990 NFC Championship game that essentially knocked Joe Montana off the 49ers. Man, that was vicious.
-
Yeah, I'll just make my last pick as well: Rounders (Dahl, 1998) Should have been a much better movie with this cast, but this film never fails to get me in the mood to go gambling.

So, how'd that work out for you?
-
That was fantastic. You want a quality promo, Mick Foley's your man.
