Huge ammounts of police swarming "Neverland"...
CanadianChris replied to Downhome's topic in Current Events
Police await Michael Jackson's surrender Singer expected to turn himself in within the hour -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SANTA BARBARA, California (CNN) -- Authorities Thursday were awaiting the surrender of singer Michael Jackson, saying they plan to charge him with multiple counts of child molestation. Members of the news media crowded the sidewalk in front of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department, awaiting Jackson's arrival, expected about 11 a.m. PST (2 p.m. EST), county authorities said. A source told CNN that Jackson would meet his attorney, Mark Geragos, at the sheriff's office in Santa Barbara County, where the singer's 2,600-acre Neverland Ranch is located. Jackson is expected to be booked, photographed and fingerprinted, and to surrender his passport and post a $3 million bond before being released. District Attorney Tom Sneddon said Jackson faces multiple counts of lewd or lascivious contact with a child younger than 14. -

El Gigante was never over. Any heat he got was residual from teaming with Sting and the Dudes With Attitudes. They released him pretty quickly after that angle ended, and then he went to the WWF as Giant Gonzalez and things actually got worse. As for Andre, it didn't matter how good or bad he was, he just connected with crowds in a way that almost nobody before or since has. He literally sold out the world, wherever he went, because he was a one-of-a-kind attraction and was booked as such. And yes, he was much better in the 70s than he was in the 80s.

Austin and the Smoking Skull belt comes to mind. Other than that, not to my recollection.

The One and Only A Minute with Stan Hooper thread

Two weeks of ratings prove nothing. You need a lot more data points than that to illustrate a trend. -
Read the book, but never saw the movie. One of the most difficult books I've ever read, but probably in my top 5. I don't think I'd want to see the movie, just because the book evokes such graphic imagery that I wouldn't want to spoil it all by having that imagery interpreted for me on the screen.

Depends on how thorough you want to be. It took me 3-4 hours solid to write a recap for Velocity...longer if I couldn't find a block of time just for that purpose.

I hope it does. All Escobar's ever done is be maddeningly inconsistent while showing flashes of brilliances from time to time. He's not worth it at the price he's going to be asking. And I definitely think Lilly is going to be better than Lidle was. Plus, another lefty in the rotation does NOT suck. This makes me very excited about next season...a starting rotation of Halladay, Lilly, Hendrickson and Hentgen, plus whichever young guy gets the fifth spot in spring training? Not too shabby. This should be the year the Jays seriously contend for the playoffs again.

The Dames' Diatribe on WWE Raw - 11/17/03
CanadianChris replied to The Dames's topic in The WWE Folder
The problem I (and others) had with Austin was that he would do or say things to bury the other performers as if he was a wrestler (like the beatdowns when he first came in), when the people he was burying had no shot of getting over on him since he WASN'T a wrestler. Was Jericho ever going to get over on Austin? Was Christian? Of course not. Austin as face commissioner didn't work because faces just don't work well in positions of authority in the context of most basic wrestling storylines. Bischoff as heel commissioner, though, works perfectly, because you know the faces will get over on him eventually. -
Good. He deserved it.

The Bengals aren't flat out better than either of those teams. I'm sorry, but the Bengals have lost to THREE three-win teams this year, and one of them was the Cardinals. You can't lose to the Cardinals and claim that you're not a weak team.

They actually made HLA shirts??

The Dames' Diatribe on WWE Raw - 11/17/03

Nice write-up. Is it totally sad that I'm expecting them to completely drop the ball on the Jericho/Trish/X/Lita storyline? EVOLUTION IS A BEAUTY QUEEN~! -
Well, this sucks. Makes me really glad I only live an hour from the border, though.
