    The Damaramu Gym-o-Rama

Small suggestion: Try running at a steadier pace for whatever distance you want to run. Run 4 miles at a 10:00 pace or whatever. You don't want to burn yourself out in the first few minutes of your workout -- you're supposed to ease yourself into it. Your hardest effort should be toward the end.

OK, WTF just happened? Shouldn't it be OOG's pick now?

For larger guys, a 10-minute mile is a pretty good pace. I can't run at 10:00 pace for more than a couple of minutes. I usually fall somewhere between 11:00 and 12:00.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

I'd say give anyone who hasn't submitted something already until tomorrow or Sunday, and if they don't, tough luck. We'll just judge their team on the roster alone. I mean, it's been, what, two weeks? Three? Surely people could have found 15-20 minutes somewhere in that time.

Calculating basal metabolic rate Yes, that's pretty accurate. And no, you shouldn't be going under 2000 calories. There's a point where you reach a paradox -- the fewer calories you take in, the slower you'll lose weight. Your body will adjust its metabolism to account for the fact that you've convinced it there's a shortage of food, and it needs to hang onto whatever fat stores are available to survive. Ain't biology great? Also, does your treadmill know how much you weigh? Because that number of calories burned is based on a 180-pound man. If you weigh 240, it's more like 700 calories burned.

    Hogan/Austin: The Thread

    1. Who should win? I'd say Austin, because Hogan beating him when he can barely move around the ring just wouldn't be believable. They'd probably have to make it a no holds barred match to cover up for Hogan (and Austin, too, to an extent). 2. Is this match still a money match? I have no doubt that a lot of people would pay a lot of money to see this match. 3. Is this a Main Event? Probably a co-main at WrestleMania, like Hogan/Rock and Hogan/McMahon. The world title match always goes last, and deservedly so. It's the bookers' responsibility to build this match up without having it overshadow the entire card. 4. Does this intrigue you AT ALL? Not in the least. I hate the concept of the dream match in this context, pitting two past-their-prime guys who aren't even full-time wrestlers anymore against each other. This isn't Austin from 1997 against Hogan from 1987, where they could put on an exciting match. They'd need a lot of help to get this match even to the ** level. The only thing that would interest me at all is which guy has enough juice to go over, and I can get that from looking at the results the next morning. 5. Would you order the pay per view, JUST for this match? There is no way in hell I would put down even one penny just to see this match. 6. Will they both get desperate enough? At this point, I doubt it. Both guys are just way too stubborn to lay down to the other guy. Hogan tried to "pass the torch" to Lesnar and we all saw how that turned out, so I doubt he's going to be willing to show up just to job to Austin, and Austin will never agree to lay down for Hogan. So there you have it.

    Wii

I figured out that it was the MR814v1. I updated the firmware and saw an immediate improvement in my internet speed on this computer. This, unfortunately, is a no-go. In v2 and v3, you can disable the firewall, but in v1, it's built into the wireless system and can't be disabled. Tried that. I keep getting either a 32002 error or a 32004 error. The connection test works perfectly, but I can't download the damn update. I'd prefer not to, but it's not looking like I have much alternative if I want to use this Wii Card I bought before I figured out if I could connect the Wii to the internet.

    Desert Island Draft

Oh, bloody hell. I knew I should have picked Sports Night last time around, but I didn't think it would get taken because it only went two seasons. I'm doing an awful job at this draft.

    TWIBsies! June 23 - June 29

I can only hope that the response was "Fuck you. You're Shawn Chacon." I think it was going to be something like that until Chacon tried to beat up Ed Wade.

I honestly don't know WTF these teams are thinking with these huge-ass contracts. If you have a guy signed for 8-9 million long term, you are not winning the Stanley Cup.

    Video Game Desert Island draft

Back when I had a PlayStation, this was my favourite game for it. At the time, there wasn't a single game that made use of the analog sticks as well as: Ape Escape (PS)

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

I need someone on the O-line who can create holes for Barry Sanders, and this guy was one of the best run-blockers ever... Larry Little, OG AFL All-Star 1969 AFC-NFC Pro Bowl 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 NFL 1970s All-Decade Team Pro Football Hall of Fame, 1993

It's a Netgear MR814. I don't know how to find out what firmware version it is.

    Desert Island Draft Thread

12 hours has elapsed, so here's my next pick. It further satisfies my desire for 1997 WWF matches, and gives me a match with both Owen Hart and HBK, neither of whom I have in a match (other than as a referee) yet: WWF Tag Team Championship match: Owen Hart and The British Bulldog [c] vs. Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels, Monday Night RAW, May 25, 1997

If you're using a wireless router, switch the channel to 1 or 11. I tried that -- turns out I was on channel 11 to start with. Neither one makes a difference.

    The NHL all-time draft

Geez, CG, who are you getting to play defence? I know Roy is your goalie, but still. Anyway, I was surprised this guy is still here...two-time Selke Trophy winner: Rod Brind'Amour, C And a pretty decent-scoring left winger, nearly a point-a-game guy: Brian Propp, LW

    Desert Island Draft Thread

I need at least one match from 1997 on here: WWF Championship match: The Undertaker [c] vs. Bret Hart, Summerslam, August 3, 1997 I loved the stips for this match -- if Bret didn't win the title, he was barred from wrestling in the US. But his nemesis Shawn Michaels was the special referee. But if he didn't call the match down the middle, HE was barred from wrestling in the US. One of Undertaker's better matches here, and I get Bret's final WWF title win to boot.
