Anyone else think we're still drafting at the start of next season?

Getting close to five bucks a gallon around here.

In my case, it was because a franchise centre is more valuable than a franchise shooting guard.

Five best crowd reactions: 1. Bash at the Beach 96, Hogan turns heel 2. Super Sunday, Hogan's AWA title win reversed 3. Canadian Stampede, introduction of the Hart Foundation 4. Summerslam 88, Ultimate Warrior beats Honky Tonk Man 5. Hardcore Heaven 94, fans throw dozens of chairs into the ring after Terry Funk asks for a chair Just missing the cut: Jericho's 1999 WWF debut, the "We want Flair!" chant at Bash 91, Cena's intro at One Night Stand 06, Austin's run-in at Backlash 00

Well, this is it. Royals vs. Apostles, one time for all time.

I've waited 21 years to see another Lakers/Celtics series, and I can't believe there's such a realistic possibility of it actually happening this year. There'd be just such a healthy hate on both sides for that series. The mini-dynasty was great and all, but how much hate can you really muster up for the New Jersey Nets?

West was one of about five that I'm thinking of. Nice pick.

So long, Paul Maurice... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=237026&...s=topStory_main It's interesting that the Leafs would fire the coach before making a decision on the new GM (who, presumably, would make his own decision on Maurice), but I guess no one was under any illusions that Maurice would ever survive until the end of his contract, no matter who the new GM was.

If I miss the playoffs by a game or two, I can point to my 3-6 record against treble down the stretch as the reason.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - conference finals
CanadianChris replied to CanadianChris's topic in Sports
Quick answer: Because all the series but one finished in five games. The playoff rounds start on fairly fixed dates, because arenas need to know well in advance for which dates they might be needed. So, when ALL the series are short, you're going to have a few days between rounds. -
Yeah, I was debating between Oscar and Wilt.

Has anyone seen what the Yankees are going to be charging for their better seats in the new ballpark next year? One season ticket for a seat in the front row between the dugouts will cost over two hundred thousand dollars. Hell, a seat in the first row in the upper deck behind home plate will cost over ten grand. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...are_insane.html

Not really. I still think the AL Central will settle into what most people thought it would be. I'd probably flip Texas and Oakland, but that wouldn't affect the playoffs any. I'm loving my "Seattle isn't nearly as good as everyone thinks" statement right now. I will say that Baltimore will not lose 100 games. But they'll still finish last in the East.

Aw, man, I wanted Roger Murdock. I was even going to use the clip from Airplane! instead of Generic NBA Shot #749. Instead, I'm "stuck" with maybe the most dominant big man of them all... The Big Dipper himself, Wilt Chamberlain. That was a nice opening win, but Kobe's shot selection in the fourth quarter left much to be desired.

Wow, the Celtics are self-destructing AGAIN. They're lucky they get to go home and beat down the Hawks in Game 7. Judging by this crowd, you'd almost think Atlanta wasn't the worst sports city in America.

I don't think anything official has been announced, but it's pretty common knowledge here that Murray doesn't intend to coach the team next season.
-
To what end? To the end of my Senators fandom, it looks like. There's speculation he may be the new head coach. Yah these rumors are killing me. Although I really liked the Tortorella rumor that's been going around. Tortorella would be OK. I really like the Pat Burns rumours, though, if he's up to it.
-
And so it came to pass.
-
Maybe not as many pros as you might think, because the pot-limit Omaha world championship event is running on the same day, as well as the final table of the $50,000 HORSE tournament. Still, good luck. Wish I was doing that. Maybe next year (although I say that every year).

The Things That Anger You Thread.

Blame the restaurants for serving too much food. Seriously. If everyone ate everything on their plate, we'd be even fatter than we already are. -
It was expected. I don't think anyone thought they'd give the idea any serious consideration.

Main event or a preliminary tournament?
