If the Red Wings win, five players will tie him (Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Maltby, Draper and McCarty). From what I can tell, I think Mathieu Dandenault is the only other guy with a chance at a fourth.

Yes, but don't underestimate the power of a one-team town. Look how much the Wasatch Front loves its Jazz. This doesn't mean that this move isn't completely absurd, however. Is this the first relocation since the Montreal Expos? I'm still sore about that one. Yeah. The last one before that was, ironically enough, the Hornets.

That's exactly what they did for the first five years. In fact, for the first two years, they drew for every lottery spot, not just for the first three. That's how the Knicks won the Ewing lottery and the Warriors, who had the worst record, finished 7th out of 7. They didn't change to a weighted system until 1990, then changed to the current system after the Magic won their second straight lottery in 1993, despite a 1 in 66 chance of doing so.

The best for me has to have been the buildup to The Megapowers Explode. OOG said it already -- it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The entire Flair/Savage saga, from before WrestleMania with the "She was mine before she was yours" angle and then inserting Warrior after WrestleMania, would be a close second. There was a series of YouTube videos detailing nearly the whole story of the Megapowers, from 1987 and Hogan's angle with DiBiase all the way through to WrestleMania V. Sadly, it got taken down.

At first glance, I mistook the word "run" for "ruin" in the thread subtitle.

It's a main dish at every single Italian restaurant I've ever been to in my entire life. It's also my wife's favourite dish, and I've never seen her order it on the side of anything. Just gnocchi and sauce. It's like saying spaghetti is "just noodles."

Gas prices in Toronto since 2002. They've pretty much doubled in the past 5 years: Note the huge spike around the time of Katrina. I had to fill up for around $1.50/L on my way back from Toronto that weekend.

Gnocchi is a main dish. That can't count.

Why just the Vezina finalists? Don't they announce all of the trophy finalists at the same time?

He just essentially called his manager and/or general manager an idiot in print. I don't imagine either one of them wants Joba in the rotation at this point.
-
I don't think I've ever had fewer than six in a single visit.

It wasn't what he said, but how he said it. He's a lunatic. He's worse than his dad, and his dad ran the team into the ground before he was suspended.

That's interesting, because I've been to Vegas on really hot days and never minded it all that much. I've always maintained that I'd rather walk in really hot temperatures than really cold. Mind you, we regularly hit in the high 90s-low 100s on the humidex here in the summer, so we get the worst of things whether it's summer or winter. Oh, and $1.207/L here, which works out to about $4.60 a gallon.

Cabrera, Aybar...po-tay-to, po-tah-to.

The Hank Steinbrenner era is every bit as enjoyable as I imagined it could be: Be afraid, Yankee fans. Be very afraid.

Corn on the cob.

David Eckstein just hit his yearly home run.
-
They probably didn't want his option to kick in for next year, and figured it'd be better to release him than to sit him and let him bitch for the rest of the year.

Frank Thomas was just released by Toronto: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3355502 I wonder who the Jays will bring in to replace him. Matt Stairs is a good guy, but he's definitely not the long term answer at DH. Maybe they do the unthinkable and go after Barry Bonds.

I'm working on my second consecutive year with no points. At this rate, people will be sending me money to pick them.

I'd say Kennedy should be sent back to Scranton, but who else do the Yankees have? He doesn't look like he belongs in the majors right now, though. 22 BB in 33 total major league IP doesn't bode well for his future.
-
No, they've got to be happy everything about this game but the final result. Play like that on Tuesday night and they probably come home with a split.
-
Damn, what a fantastic game.

I wonder if the Spurs go back to the Hack-a-Shaq. I was as surprised as the announcers that they went away from it.

He tries to shoot it, but his shot is just indescribably ugly.
