Having refereed university-level basketball, and watching Seth Davis' explanation of the Oden foul, I can say definitively that he has no idea what he's talking about. His saying that the officials would be saying Oden should be ejected from the game if they called an intentional is ridiculous. An intentional foul has nothing to do with the nature of the contact, and everything to do with whether or not he was making a play for the ball (which, from my viewpoint, he wasn't). If he wasn't making a play for the ball and just wanted to commit a foul to stop the clock, it's an intentional.

Unless it was the right call.

I had won all of the 8-9 matchups before tonight's loss by Villanova. My downfall was upsets that never happened -- I picked both of the 6-11 upsets, but struck out with three higher-seeded upsets that never materialized (Oral Roberts, Long Beach State and Albany), as well as two 10 seeds that lost to 7s (Gonzaga and Texas Tech). I don't think I've seen a tournament that went chalk in the first round as much as this one has.

There's an open spot in the NL-only league. I now can't make the draft, and don't really have time to set up a draft order before then.

Looks like I'll probably wind up with 26 (27 if Villanova comes back, 25 if Holy Cross pulls the upset). It's my best opening weekend in years, and yet I'm still way behind.

Phew. Now I need Texas to pull this out.
