The Beatles - Cry Baby Cry. God they're awesome.

I know a lot of people liked it, and I thought it was good, but the premise of Minority Report was bloody great. A police force that can see murders ahead of time, but then one of their officers discovers that he's going to be the murderer? That's a really good and intriguing plot. But the movie just never really lived up to that for me. And not just because I don't like Tom Cruise, it just didn't flow well. I don't know what it was, but I just didn't think it was anywhere near as good a film as it should have been. Ditto for Mystic River. Yes, everyone loves it, and I quite liked it until possibly the worst explanation for a murder mystery I've ever seen. If the movie had ended before *SPOILERS* Marcia Gay Harden tells Penn that she thinks it was Robbins who did the murder prompting Penn to overact for the rest of the film, I would have quite liked it. But they discover it was the kids who did the murder (so as to scare her, they violently beat her, yeah I guess that would work) on the same night as Penn kills Robbins who killed the pedophile the exact same night Penn's daughter was killed. It was just too much for me to handle. *END SPOILERS* And I thought Saving Private Ryan could have been much better if it actually had a plot. Or decent characters, much of a muchness.

But the thing is is whether or not it is an opinion shared by a lot of people it doesn't make it okay for him to speak his mind. That means that in the early 1960s it was perfectly acceptable for white men to call black men "niggers" and say they feel uncomfortable around them. Certainly it may have been at the time, but I would like to think that society has matured since then and grown not to discriminate against a minority group on a trait of their's which cannot be changed. And in that way it is a perfectly acceptable position to take in comparing calling someone a "nigger" and calling someone a "faggot". They're both offensive derogatory terms to a minority group. He can think such a thing if he wants to. But 50 Cent is a man idolised by teenagers worldwide (sad but true) and therefore should not present such a homophobic viewpoint and express a negative message to these people. Same goes with Eminem. They're both in a high position in society and would influence the thought of some fans, and so close-minded biggoted rubbish like what 50 Cent said there should not be a message given to the public as those who idolise these people will grow to be similarly close-minded. And as for homosexuality being such a deviation from the norm, one in four people will have a homosexual relationship at some stage in their life, which is fairly common.

I would say yes, but ACDC's video for Thunderstruck was pretty awesome. And there are a couple of others that work, but I agree, the overwhelming majority are not good.

A thumbtack, perhaps?

Bruce Springsteen - My Hometown. I know near everyone puts Born To Run as better than Born In The USA, but listening to it now I find it pretty hard to place one over the other. All I can decide from it is that Bruce is a god.

I don't like Exile From Main Street. In my opinion The Stones had become pretty hit and miss by this stage. In fact, by about 1974 I think they just stopped hit and missing and just began missing. Anyway, my top three double albums: The Beatles - The White Album. Revolution 9 is awesome. Anyone who says otherwise is a drongo. Prince - Sign O The Times. Bloody awesome also. Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I love Funeral For A Friend, and the album never really lets down (much). It's truly a bloody awesome and overlooked album.

Wait, wait, Greatest Vocalists ever. Who the hell put Roy Orbison at 53???? He should be at worst Top Five. I don't know what the deal with Elvis only being 9 either, but the top three should be Elvis, Mercury and Orbison. I don't care what order, but Orbison at 53??? And Dylan at 75??????? Has the world gone mad!?

I find listening to Starting Over by John Lennon depressing in that it's his last song to be released while he's alive. In fact, all of his songs on Double Fantasy just sadden me, because they had optomism and it seemed like he was finally somewhat at peace with his life and had it all sorted before it being taken away for no good reason at all. Now *that* depresses me.

We're talking about worst endings to classics: It's not a classic, but I was really enjoying Mystic River until the last half hour or so. Everything that was happening, it was just too much unbelievable things happening at the same time. The whole movie was built around coincidences, but that was the last straw as I just couldn't accept that as the conclusion to the story. I liked the end of Schindler's List a fair bit, with everyone putting the stones on the coffin. Yeah, it's a bit hammering in the tearjerkingness, but it still moved me. I also liked the end of North By Northwest, with the entire scene on Mt. Rushmore. Pretty cool for the 50s. I liked in The Pianist how the credits just ran with him playing the piano. I found that incredibly touching. And I loved the end of Adaptation.

God I hate Spaceballs. I do not understand how anyone can like it, I actually did not laugh once. At all. And people make out like it's half-decent. It makes my Three Most Disliked Movies list. Greatest Quote Ever (From The Greatest Movie Ever): As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again. I can feel the stirring music rise as I type.

I went away for the weekend, come back and Karter was Eagan? I always thought Karter wasn't a bad guy, but Eagan annoyed me greatly. What a topsy turvy world.

I didn't actually like Mystic River and felt Lost In Translation was the best picture of 2003. I was rooting for it in all categories it was nominated in, but I think it should have been nominated not only for Johansson but for the cinematography. The absence of on Oscar nod there surprised me. But yeah, great film. Makes my top ten of all time list. Probably.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
spiny norman replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
I just went on IMDB to look up something about Angel. In the description of the show, it previously had written TV Series 1999-2004 but it has since been changed to 1999-????. I have no idea if that means anything or makes anyone in here feel strangely optomistic, but I thought I'd just add that because they're a pretty good and reliable site. -
I thought all new registrations were blocked??? And even if they weren't, doesn't one of the mods have to authorise you to post once you register? I find this all very disconcerting.

Four posts, no mention of The Stand. You're all mad! The Green Mile is in second place though. And I'm also going to have a mention of On Writing. That was a thoroughly enjoyable book. I know nobody else will list it, but I found it a very good read.

^ I agree with those sentiments. The Cars were bloody awesome, and Drive is one of my favourite songs ever. Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark

Martika - Toy Soldiers This is a really underrated song. Truly an 80s classic.

The One and Only WrestleMania predictions thread
spiny norman replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in The WWE Folder
1. Dudleys vs. La Resistance vs. Jindrak & Cade vs. Raw Tag Champs Booker T & RVD: It says Fatal Fourway, so I'm guessing this will be an elimination thing. I predict La Resistance and Dudleys are eliminated early on, and in the end I'm guessing Booker & RVD retain. 2. Mick Foley & The Rock vs. Batista, Flair & Randy Orton: Yeah, I think this will be early in the card. Anyway, in the end I think Foley will pin Flair, and that way Orton can say "Hey, you never pinned me!" and they can have their rematch at Backlash. 3. WWE Cruiserweight Title Open: I'm not sure for order of elimination, but it will come down to Mysterio vs. Chavo in the end, and I think Chavo will win that. 4. John Cena vs. WWE US Champ Big Show: Cena's winning this, methinks. 5. Molly vs. WWE Women's Champ Victoria: They're not making Molly bald. She's winning. 6. APA vs. SPWGTT vs. Basham Bros vs. WWE Smackdown Tag Champs Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty: Presuming this is elimination too, I see it coming down to SPWGTT and R & S2h, with SPWGTT and acronysms everywhere winning. 7. Christian vs. Jericho: Christian wins so Jericho can win the rematch at Backlash and possibly be pushed up for a title shot at Bad Blood (him or Kane, I'm thinking, because the combinations of Benoit-HBK-HHH will be running short, plus he and Benoit have a good history). 8. Kane vs. Undertaker: Kane needs to win this. But Taker will. 9. Stacy & Jackie vs. Sable & Torrie: In a 30 minute war, we'll see someone's tits, and then while they're trying to stick them back in they'll be rolled up and pinned (the person, not their tits). 10. Kurt Angle vs. WWE Smackdown Champ Eddie Guerrero: I'm guessing 30 minutes for this one, seeing as how the show is to be five hours. Guerrero retains. 11. Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg: I truly have no idea what the hell is going to happen. 12. Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels vs. WWE Raw Champ Triple H: Come on, Benoit has to win this. I think it could go 40-45 minutes, too. -
I find most of the comedians who have come along in the past ten years or so unfunny. They all just seem to be recycling the same jokes which weren't that great to begin with. I don't mind Jim Carrey though, simply for The Truman Show. I absolutely loathe Adam Sandler though, if only he did more movies like The Wedding Singer (and no, I didn't like him in Punch Drunk Love). Ben Stiller is one of the more bearable ones, though that's not really saying a lot (but I can't hate anyone who was in Something About Mary).

Bon Scott >>>>>>>>>>>> Brian Johnson. There's no argument in my mind, and I prefer their earlier stuff. I can't think of anyone who improved with the death of the lead singer. I can't think of many who improved with a death in the band period.

Those negativity/positivity threads are awful.

Bah, clearly the only solution is the final solution. -
Naked Eyes - Always Something There To Remind Me Awesome little rhythm pattern. And snuffbox, isn't Altered States some bizarre 1980 film which debuted Drew Barrymore and William Hurt?
