The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
spiny norman replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
What happened to Giles's show? I was assuming it would be starting next year or something, but I'd be pretty surprised if it would still go on if Angel is over. This is news that I simultaneously terrible and good. While this whole little world created by Whedon is (so it seems) over, at least it never went downhill dramatically. And while it's a shame we won't see certain things which happen to all the characters and some future tremendous episodes, perhaps it will be good to have them all liberated and able to start on new endeavours which may (or may not) be as good or better. -
Cult hero?

I've hated every film Adam Sandler has been in bar The Wedding Singer (and Punch-Drunk Love, but I was severely disappointed and that was only okay in my opinion). You saying that this is similar in its humour to The Wedding Singer makes me raise an eyebrow and think maybe I wouldn't have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the cinemas to see it. Now all I need is some more positive reviews before I'll say "yeah, I think I'd like to see that".

Huh, most of my friends do it about that often, I always assumed that it was about average. How often is normal then? And I have no idea what the hell The Czech Repubic is going on about.
-
I'm just going to explain myself because of Marney and Spaceman Spiff's reactions to my cross dressing admission. I don't do it all that often. About once or twice a week, no more than most people really. It's nothing to get strung up about.

I've heard that in 1967-8 they stopped running Ken dolls, but then brought them back. I figure the same will happen here. Being male, I know very little about Barbie. But I know that with Barbie goes Ken, and I think they will be forced to bring him back shortly. Barbie and Blaine just doesn't sound right.

What about when crossdressing? Because I do wear makeup generally when I do dress up, and it's all just for a bit of fun. Otherwise, I would never wear makeup. As for what look I am, I have longish light brown hair, but not the surfer look because I'm not too dark plus am a bit too hairy for that kind of thing. So wear do I fit in that?

Springsteen had started off with Born To Run about ten years earlier. He released three albums in that ten year span, and while two of them went Top Ten in the charts, neither had any major single hits. It's hard to find an equivalent to Kylie's successes in the US, male or female. I can't think of anyone who was a one-hit wonder for fifteen years and then suddenly came in strong. *awaits Tiffany's next album*

Seeing as it's the 20th Wrestlemania, I think they should go for a suitably classic song. Like We Will Rock You. Or they could try and go all sentimental and get Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper so as to remind us of times of youre, but God knows the last time they put a non-rock song on any of their shows.

Blah, she's not very old anymore. If she was a male singer who was 35, would everyone be complaining about him being too old to be any good? In fact, Bruce Springsteen was 35 when he did his Born In The USA album. John Lennon was 35 when he did Mind Games. Hell, Madonna was doing Erotica at 35. I don't see how it's a big problem.

I actually think Body Language is her worst album thus far. Rhythm Of Love and Kylie Minogue are her two best anyway.

Their relationship was over, I was pretty convinced that they were going to divorce one another pretty soon after the film ended. And I wouldn't call her a bitch, she was just extremely insecure and she found in Bill Murray someone whom she was no longer insecure around, but I think were they to stay together any longer the novelty of their relationship would have worn off and their friendship would have been fleeting anyway. As for practically cheating, which you cited as a reason to feel little sympathy for her, what about Bill Murray? He's been married for an extremely long time, yet he has little time for his wife and bringing up the children. He gets paid five million (it's five million, isn't it?) to do the whiskey commercials which don't look to be massively strenuous work. Yet you feel sympathy for him? And he actually does cheat on his wife, and I don't see him arranging for a divorce like I do for Johansson. If I was to say that one deserves less sympathy, it would be him. At least I get the impression that she's going to try and rectify the emptiness in her life, whereas he seems doomed to dwell in it for some time. So I don't understand how you can say she is worse than him. Though he is extremely charming, I found myself empathising with her more.

Wasn't the whole point of NHB changing names...
spiny norman replied to Mole's topic in No Holds Barred
I find Saga Of Chave and Cockstrider V2.0 two of the most entertaining things in this folder. Those two and Sandman's original TSM DRAWMAH thread were what I was hoping to signal the beginning of this folder's newfound goodness, because I found them to be the most entertaining things in here for some time (though I think Hoff's thread is taking a good joke and taking it too far). Threads like this are what makes the folder crappy, with this stale old "This folder sucks". I think you're a pretty okay poster, Mole, but why don't you just add this into the thread about this in Site Feedback? It's just a matter of opinion, but I think thank God this folder finally has something to revitalise itself. And I'm not (very) retarded, by the way. -
I too wear a kilt, plus do crossdress from time to time, just for a bit of fun. But the kilt thing, yeah, I do it fairly often.

Angelslayer, just to respond to what you said earlier about Martin Bryant: I haven't met a single person who thinks he was set up. I think everyone generally accepts that he is guilty. That said, this whole "Well, water kills people, and beds kill people" argument is amongst some of the more stupid arguments I've ever heard. There is a difference between a bed, which has the purpose to sleep on, to a gun, which has the purpose to kill with. Like a bomb. Hey, water kills people too, why aren't bombs legal?

I live in Australia. Guns are under incredibly strict control in Australia, and an overwhelming majority of Australians don't own guns. Gun crime rates are incredibly low. Give me a good reason to own a gun in my home.

Nicole Kidman To Star In Bewitched
spiny norman replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
I have to repeat what Choken One said, I thought this was incredibly old news. -
I'd go for some oldie, not the songs that people are talking about here. Something like "My Way" by Sinatra (but that may not be relevant). But yeah, something along those lines. Perhaps even "Those Were The Days" by Mary Hopkins?
-
Besides, I think the Batman film actually looks to be good. It has a solid director behind it and could in all actuality be an incredibly good film. Which is more than can be said for Superman.
-
I'm not particularly traumatised. I've realised Superman was doomed as soon as I saw McG was directing it. After the brilliance of Charlie's Angels and Charlie's Angels 2, did anyone expect him to do Superman well?

Yes, Dawn was annoying in Season Five. But as I said, she was meant to be. She was the whiny annoying little sister, got on everyone's nerves. She was selfish and didn't hold Buffy in a great amount of respect. Compare that to Ben. He was kind, giving and decided to work in a hospital due to his want of helping people and was the complete opposite of Dawn. They were both put on earth and were the two obstacles for Glory's breaking through to her dimension. But by the end of the Season, he was the selfish one. He chose his life over every single other person's, whereas Dawn was willing to take her own to save everyone else (ironically, he died, she didn't). She had to be annoying so as to be able to make that transition and so she could be the anti-Ben. I don't think it was accidental, it was just good character development.

I know a few people who hate Tara becase they find her boring or whatnot. I think that's mainly because she wasn't the most loud or funny or obnocious. I think she was the most real character of them, the one the audience could identify with best. Plus could she sing! As for Dawn, Season Five she was good because that is what was needed for that character. She was the bratty bitchy sister, Ben was the super nice good guy. But as the series progressed they both changed to the point where she was willing to sacrifice herself for the world. Season Six was just all about her being treated as a child which I think all people can identify with from their teenage years. Annoying? Perhaps, but we were all probably annoying to some extent during those periods. And Season Seven she was just there, not really offensive at all. Plus she sang the anchovies song. Riley though? He was just bland as can be. Though he was meant to be Joe Average, Joe Average is never that boring. And his jokes were terrible! Though I'm not sure if that's the fault of the writer's or the actor. Though I felt he got more interesting in Season Five, he was still their worst main character ever.

Victoria pissing her wrestling career away?
spiny norman replied to Silence's topic in The WWE Folder
I have to say, I don't find Trish attractive at all. She's your typical big-breated blonde Pamela Anderson clone. While I do think she deserves credit for becoming as good a wrestler as she has and the effort she puts in, I find her completely uninteresting in terms of physical attractiveness. -
I'm seeing Bowie in sixteen days, so I am pleased to see all these positive reviews of him. I've heard his best song is Life On Mars, which I hope he does because I think that's his most awesome song. As for best live act I've seen, I'd say Prince. He was just an awesome performer, and knew exactly how to have the crowd in the palm of his hand. I mean, before he came out for the encore, all the lights were out for at least five minutes while the entire crowd just chanted for him. As for The Stones, I truly think they've absolutely lost touch altogether. Mind you, I only like their 60s stuff and a few of their 70s work, so perhaps I'm not the best judge, but I really don't like their live sound.
