Rap: Why does it get such a bad "rap " around here
spiny norman replied to lomasmoney's topic in Music
I'm not a metalhead (far from it) but I really dislike rap. I think it does take some form of talent to be a rapper, but I just find too often that it really doesn't do much for me. There's so much similarity in all the songs to the point where I can't distinguish between artists/songs. The lyrics are usually either garbage about bitches or whatever or pretentious trite about living in da hood. I really find it rather pathetic. Early rap I could stand. MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Kriss Kross all didn't take themselves so seriously and it was fun. Now it has lost that and I think until someone can find something new to diversify rap to the average person (which I think will be difficult) it is going to be near impossible for me to get into. -
Shawn Michaels vs. HHH -- Last Man Standing for the World Title Winner: Shawn Michaels. Dudleyz vs. Evolution -- Raw Tag Titles Winners: Evolution. Chavo vs. Eddie Winner: Eddie. Rey vs. Noble - CW Title Winner: Noble. Lesnar vs. Holly - WWE Title Winner: Lesnar. Royal Rumble Match Final Four: Benoit, Jericho, Kane, Angle. Final Two: Benoit, Jericho. Winner: Benoit. That's probably all wrong, btw.

Kane is electrocuting Trish? Going a bit overboard, aren't we?

Remember when Triple H won at the Rumble on his big return? Everybody knew he was going to win. It still happened. Now, I know everyone's going to say "But that's because HHH wins everything" and make all the obvious Triple H jokes, but he's not the only case of being a shoe-in to win. Austin's first win was obvious. Personally I think those two were far easier to pick than this year, because I know there is doubt in my mind that Benoit will win.

No, I just meant not to the extent of Bowie.
-
I'd put Bowie as better than Neil Young simply for his durability and ability to change his styles so well. He went from folk to glam rock to new wave to electronica all the while staying at the top of the music industry. I'm not going to sell Neil Young short, Harvest is an incredibly good album. But I like my artists to be eclectic, which Bowie is. Plus Life On Mars is in my top five songs ever.

I just got a whole heap of errors, but you said that the amount of errors would be minimised by this upgrade. What's the story? EDIT: Nevermind, I just read all of your post about only minimised.

There was also a Bradshaw vs. Akio vs. Sakoda match that was there which the original report strangely left out.

Interestingly, in Australia, we call sandals thongs. Also, fanny is vagina, not arse. And once we caught some inspirational ad from the US saying "Don't bonk" which is amusing, because bonk means sex here. And sorry if any of those are also the US defenitions, but as far as I know they're not.

Woh woh woh wohwohwoh. Incidentally, I just made a compilation album for someone I know where I just put (most of) the biggest names in pop and rock in it, and I put Wired For Sound in. Here's the tracklist: 1. Roy Orbison - Crying 2. Elvis - Can't Help Falling In Love 3. Bob Dylan - Just Like A Woman 4. Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water 5. The Beatles - Across The Universe 6. Rolling Stones - Wild Horses 7. John Lennon - Jealous Guy 8. David Bowie - Life On Mars 9. Elton John - Someone Saved My Life Tonight 10. Cliff Richard - Wired For Sound 11. Prince - Little Red Corvette 12. Phil Collins - Against All Odds 13. Madonna - Crazy For You 14. U2 - All I Want Is You 15. Michael Jackson - Will You Be There 16. Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Philadelphia

Roy Orbison's Crying is famous for his singing "Cry-y-y-ying" and reaching so many extremes of his vocal range. Probably the best vocal performance I've heard from the Big O. Bohemian Rhapsody's best part is the whole "I see a little silhouette of a man" (is that what is said?) through to the guitar solo. I don't care about the rest of the song, that's the part that matters. Same with Bicycle Race, the defining moment is when all the bike bells are ringing.

What about that time Austin was eliminated in 2002. It didn't lose him any credibility. Anyway, I'll put up my order once we get the Smackdown spoiler on who their entrants will be.

I agree this folder is in a terrible state as it currently stands. I mean we're meant to be in awe of Banky-CWM as if it is the greatest flamewar since sliced bread, but it has just fallen flat and I: a) don't give a toss b) don't have any incentive to post in this folder, aside from whinges like this one. I agree with Chave. This folder needs something now to make it good again. I would do it, but I'm a crap poster. So I urge every good poster to try and do something to fix this now.
-
Chave, don't you dare put Cliff Richard in the same class as Good Charlotte. He is a god among men.

I think while they do want to have Rock, Foley and Austin all return to the ring at some point or another, I think they'd prefer to have heavy promotion for it rather than a suprise entrant in the Rumble. Those three are of a pretty high calibre and are too big to be suddenly entered into the Rumble with little promotion. And if you mean promote them like they are for Billy Gunn, again I would put that as a bad idea because there could be no way for them to win an then it's essentially a waste because you can bring them back far more effectively at a later date.

Has there ever been a less-convincing title threat
spiny norman replied to AnonymousBroccoli's topic in The WWE Folder
I would put Bossman as the least convincing. Not only that, he was facing Big Show. Lesnar - Holly is better than Big Show - Bossman. And like Holly or not, they've built this rather well. While at times I think "Why are they acting like there's some massive threat, it's Hardcore Holly" that thought is coming to me less often. -
Man Charged With Taking Candy from Child

That's a horrible thing to do. The poor kid. I could kill two birds with one stone literally. But it's not something I could bring myself moralistically to do. Sorry, I'm an annoying do-gooder and I shall leave this thread. But I think such an act is wrong. -
And King Kong is just coming up. This thread inspired me to go to IMDB and see what upcoming films we were to expect in 2004. We have a new most anticipated: Footloose: The Remake.

I am currently barefoot. HA! Sucked in all you Northern Hemisphere arseholes. BWHAHAHHAHAHAHA. That's what you get for being all "Oooohhhh, we're all better and northier than you". Well who's northier now? BWAHAHAHAH BWAHAHAHAH BWAHAHAHAH *has a stroke*

I think Harry Potter is my most anticipated film of the year at this moment (though Troy is up there, my ancient history teacher went to school with Rose Byrne who plays Briseis) as it was the third book with which they began their awesomeness. Add a great director and I think it has the possible makings of a great film, and a good replacement for LOTR. At any rate, as previous years have proven, the best movies of the year generally are those which aren't so eagerly anticipated so many months before their release. (Note I said generally).

I'm not.

DCMaximo, that has to be the most up and down CD in terms of quality posted. You've got Sussudio, Wired For Sound, Mickey, Jessie's Girl and The King Of Wishful Thinking, yet you also included Good Charlotte and Blink182.

Looks like mine was unneeded. Isn't that always the way. I didn't realise there was a third page. I am incredibly stupid.

Once Dames went a little mad and banned the entire board. He woke up to himself and realised that there was nobody left for him to talk to and wanted to figure out how to fix the problem. As it turned out, Banky was on his AIM and so Dames asked Banky what to do and Banky helped. So Dames went and unbanned Banky.
