WD, I liked The Archies. Not as much as The Chipmunks, but still. I know, that's horrendously sad.

It's good to see some Madonna love here. I didn't like True Blue all that much, but then she followed that up with Like A Prayer which was damn awesome, so it gets my vote.

Is this going into the Classic Threads thing?

1812 Overture. Everything else just pales in comparison.

I just think it hasn't been touched yet and it is extremely unlikely that it will be again. The 70s are probably my least favourite decade of the last half of last century. But the folk scene, the stoner scene, the Motown scene. I love the diversity of a few of the decades (especially the 80s), but every now and then there's something that I just don't like. I can't think of any music scene in the 60s that I thought was just bad. I am sure if somebody names them all they'll find it for me, but no, I would take the 60s over the 70s anyday (look at the 60s Stones versus 70s Stones, yowch!)

UYI, music peaked in the 70s? I have to absolutely disagree. Nothing will ever touch the 60s in terms of musical quality. Nothing.

Well, the tournament almost never made it to a final four, but here it is, a final two, as one would expect from most tournaments. So here we are, with this epic encounter: Texas Chainsaw Massacre vs. Halloween. Vote early, vote often.

Also, according to this, 1955-1965 must have been pretty bad. But yes, I disagree totally. Early 80s was a great time for music, much better than the early 90s. How sick are you, to think New Wave is crap!? My god, man.

How strange. I never liked UYI all that much, but thought Memphis was rather cool. How arousing.

Well, if we all want to place the blame, we may as well say The Beatles. The Beatles did everything. Everyone since then has ripped them off either directly or indirectly. Rock 'n' roll has been taken as far as it can go, we need someone to do a Bill Haley & The Comets and just bring in some new form of music. Only then can music be good. This era is over.

I remember when you had that as your avatar. Quite interesting this came up, as I just bought it on Saturday as I have chosen it to be one of my studied texts for Speculative Fiction in my schooling. Excellent movie, at any rate, and Kubrick's best (but this title sometimes goes to 2001).

John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? So shoot me then.

Well, bugger it, nobody else is going to do it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre vs. The Shining Halloween vs. Psycho. Voting ends when everyone stops.

What TV show made you die when you first saw it and still makes you die on repeated watchings? What do you believe to be the greatest comedy ever, where every joke made was immediately added to your favourite quotes ever? I personally choose "Fawlty Towers". Only twelve episodes, but my god were they awesome. The image of Basil Fawlty hitting his broken down car repeatedly with a tree branch while screaming "Right, I warned you!", his constant offending of the Germans, I could go on and on about this. So what is your favourite comedy?

But doesn't that happen every tournament on these forums? The winner is never someone's favourite. Remember the Princess Of Music Tournament, it came down to Sheryl Crowe and Jewel, and everybody was a tad aghast at that. The way I see it with this is Psycho should win, but it looks to me like the least deserving will actually be the winner (TCM). Oh well, such is life.

What is the funniest TV show ever?
spiny norman replied to spiny norman's topic in Television & Film
I love Monty Python. I seriously do. I own all the movies and think Graham Chapman is extremely funny and is one of the most underrated comedians ever. In fact, John Cleese only comes third on my Pythons list (after Chapman and Palin). But in no way is it better than Fawlty Towers. Fawlty Towers had a far greater consistency level than Monty Python, and the flow of Fawlty Towers was the most flawless I've seen for any TV show of any kind, ever. It just built and built and built until it reached this amazingly funny climax. Fawlty Towers > Monty Python > Everything Else. -
If by decades you mean sixteen years

I've been here longer than most people (December 2000) here yet am still personality-less! Thus I believe I am underappreciated. I'm a senior, damn it! Appreciate me!

Which Enemy of the Christian Church Are You?

I got Atheist. But I'm not an atheist. THE TEST LIES! -
Joan Baez - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. I'm not sure why, but I never really got into the 60s folk music until last night when I heard this. I knew Dylan was awesome, I knew Simon & Garfunkel were awesome, but my God. I cannot express my love for this stuff right now, and my hatred for the fact that people have put Jewel etc. in the same category as these amazing songs. Why did it take me so long to discover Folk Music? How bizarre.
