Woohoo. I was just reminded of those many hours I put into EWR with you as the random comment-generating recapper, minus the Willow skin-ripping finisher reference. Looking forward to reading your stuff again. But only a quarter star for Styles vs. Strong?

The Serenity movie thread
AnonymousBroccoli replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in Television & Film
I saw it yesterday with my brother, and this is easily my favourite movie in the past several years. (I don't watch many movies, so don't take that for much.) If nothing else, as a fan of Firefly, I got a sense of closure I didn't get with Objects in Space. So even if we don't get any more movies (which is probable after a $10 million opening weekend), I'm more than satisfied. -
The DVDs are at Amazon.com, $22.48 for Hardy and Styles, $17.49 for Best of X and Raven.

Here's who was featured in all of the promo spots. I think they were put in the first and last commercial breaks during each hour. 5:00 - Mike Tenay, Don West & Traci - Monty Brown 6:00 - Mike Tenay, Don West & AJ Styles w/ X Title Belt - 3Live Kru 7:00 - Team Canada's Bobby Roode, Petey Williams, Eric Young & A1 - James Mitchell & Abyss 8:00 - Rhino - Christopher Daniels 9:00 - Mike Tenay, Don West & Tito Ortiz - Jeff Jarrett & America's Most Wanted in the ring, with Mike Tenay & Don West voice-over 10:00 - Mike Tenay & Don West in the ring, with Jeff Hardy & Rhino entering - Short clips of AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Jeff Hardy, Rhino, 3Live Kru, Jeff Jarrett & America's Most Wanted, Raven, Team Canada, and Tito Ortiz, with Mike Tenay & Don West voice-over

So I go years waiting for this movie, avoiding most plot-related previews, trailers, spoilers and TV ads. Then I'm dumb enough to read a review calling the movie "Horrible" (also calling Joss "Wheldon"), and catch this dandy at the end: It ain't a major spoiler, and it was one I'd guessed from some reactions earlier in the thread. Still. GAH. Anyhoo. Anyone else read the comic books? I finally got at them today, and it's a nifty little story.

This seems to have started today. It's channel 427 on Rogers here. Whether it's a free trial, or part of a package we've already got, it's coming through. On right now is something called The Real Catfight, which is pretty much two Japanese girls rolling around on gym mats, occasionally using wrestling holds. One girl just used the dreaded Cleavage Lick maneuver. A 2-hour block of ROH Reborn Stage 1 is on three times later today, at 6AM, 2PM and 10PM.

I thought it was great, and my brother and sister both seemed to like it too.

who the fuck is the black haired girl to the right of Sawyer? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Michelle Rodriguez. She played Ana-Lucia, the girl Jack talked to at the airport bar in Exodus, Part 1. She's joining the cast somehow this season.

The show was held in what's usually a wedding reception hall. There probably was about 600 people in there, and just about every seat was filled at one point or another (folks got up and wandered in the general seating section that I was in). The crowd wasn't uber-hot, except maybe during the Petey Williams vs. Jerry Lynn match, and I could probably count the number of TNA chants on one hand. They didn't "fill the whole night", unless they were a local phenomenon on the opposite side of the room, where the SLAM! guy was sitting. I don't think the whole match will be shown on TV, since there were some moments unique to the event that wouldn't make sense to a broad audience (as is usually the case at house shows). The usual cheap heat comments directed at Canadians would probably lessen Jarrett's heat to parts of the audience too.

I was at the show too. As far as I remember, the finish came when America's Most Wanted came out, gave Raven the Death Sentence, and Jarrett got the pin. It was pretty bizarre. I think the crowd was stunned. I kept waiting for a Dusty finish, but it never happened. It was a typical Jarrett title match, complete with a bit of a crowd brawl, guitar shot (by Raven, for a change), ref bump, interference, and those kind of shenanigans. AMW were kind of heels by proxy, as they were on the American team of the Can-Am Cup. Granted, that didn't stop us from cheering Jerry Lynn and Rhino. They did cut a promo before their match, digging at Canada. It was kinda funny to have "Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm call us hicks. With the Jarrett alliance, I'm sure that'll cement the turn in the US too.

Another Tough Enough Winner Released
AnonymousBroccoli replied to SuperJerk's topic in The WWE Folder
Given the Angle situation, and the budding rivalry between the companies, that might be a decent move on UFC's part. -
OAO Friday Night Smackdown Thread
AnonymousBroccoli replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in The WWE Folder
From Zap2It: "SmackDown!" didn't suffer any in its first airing on Friday night, averaging 2.9/5 for UPN. -
Huh. My grandparents and aunt live about 10 minutes away from where this is being held. If we get our new-ish car this week, that'd be a convenient little road trip to test 'er out.

What would you NOT change about the WWE?
AnonymousBroccoli replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in The WWE Folder
Maria should keep doing what she's doing for the time being. And I still want to see her and Eugene hook up and make retarded bimbo babies. -
It's only two episodes each of Eve and Cuts scheduled for this coming Thursday, all repeats, so SD! could potentially stay there for one extra week.

My recent favourite is him berating Edge and Lita after she turned on Kane. They start kissing on the ramp... "My God, what the... That's the man's wife! That's the man's wife! What the hell are you people thinkin' here? What the hell are you thinkin'? You'll pay for that some day! You'll pay for that some day! What are you thinkin'? You damn harlot!"

Canada's Space is having a "Joss-A-Thon" for their Labour Day (September 5th) marathon this year. Included is the entire Firefly series, starting at 9AM. Here's the full schedule: http://community.spacecast.com/cgi-bin/ult...ic;f=1;t=011106

Christian beating Booker T for the IC Title at a house show in August '03 was unexpected.

"Those are balls." That sequence was awesome. I've gotta get this show on DVD.
-
Along with the hurtin' ratings, I imagine they moved the mansion episodes to VH1 to fit in with their "Celebreality" block of shows on Sunday night.
-
I think the $100 (million) at the end is its budget.

I don't think the USA schedule is a sure thing yet. And it would probably be their call, rather than WWE's.
