I liked Kazarian's reverse leapfrog into an Edge-o-Matic in the corner. There was a handful of cool spots during the first two matches. And London's SSP still gives me goosebumps, it's so smooth.

There's an episode of Unleashed tonight (Saturday) at 10PM ET. Could be a replay from Monday.

Yeah, but that's a silly reason to toss in extra discs, and add to the development cost.

Sorry, I thought this was Charlie's first week. $114 million for 2 weeks is pretty good.

Fran Rubel Kuzui directed the Buffy movie. Kaz Kuzui produced. They both executive produced the Buffyverse TV series. -
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory seems like it'd be below expectations at $28 million.

I forgot about this set until I saw it mentioned last Thursday night on another forum. I went out to get it the next day. I loved the show when it was first aired. It was one of a series of different, but great comedies that Fox had going for two or three seasons. The main characters are all funny, especially Ken and Dave. The "should I really be laughing at this?" description fits pretty well for a lot of the recurring themes. Infidelity, lots of drinking and drugs, mental illness, mental abuse, poor physical health, etc. It does feel awkward laughing at some of it, but no moreso than you would when watching South Park. I have no idea why they stuck 33 episodes on 6 discs, when they could've managed 5 or maybe even 4. Disc 2 can't even be half full, with only 4 episodes on it, and no extras. You'd think they'd try to save money, when it's not even Fox releasing the set.

This should mean many Canadians will be able to watch too, barring any dopey rights conflicts with the French version of Impact! on RDS.

Confidence Man was on tonight. I might be seeing something that isn't there, but during the last flashback scene, it seems like Sawyer's eyes are more blue than usual. It could be an extra, subtle visual cue that he was seeing himself in the young son of the couple he was about to con. (The kid's eyes were also blue.)

It was really funny those few times he was supposed to count the 3, but did his belly flop instead while the guy's shoulders were still down. Best one I can remember is from mid-2003 during a 6-man tag on Raw. Triple H hit Hurricane with the Pedigree, an obvious finish to everyone, apparently except Earl. So he had to get up and ring the bell after a 2-count to end the show.

The 2-part pilot is being released on the PSP's UMD format on the same day as the DVD season set. http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3717

I'm really surprised at the best drama nomination for The West Wing. I still like it, but I wouldn't put this past season anywhere near one of the top 5 shows of the year.

During tonight's show, there was an ad for Oceanic Airlines, in that soothing island vacation tone. Kinda creepy. I noticed a couple subtle touches in the direction with regards to the watch element of the story. After Jin gets handcuffed, Sun gestures at her wrist, which Sayid assumes refers to the handcuffs (which may have been true, but she might've been trying to point out the watch as the cause of the problem). Then the next flashback opens with a shot of Sun's watch. Nothing big, just thought I'd mention 'em.

For those who haven't recorded/downloaded it and watched it a few dozen times since, uber-episode Walkabout is on tonight.

CNBC re-plays Conan at 7PM the next day. And if it's really good, you should be able to catch it on some Monday down the line, or when they've got a week off. And some NBC affiliates re-play Leno and Conan episodes from the week before, after Carson Daly. -

For Canadian folk, I was in HMV a few weeks ago looking to blow some tax money, and they had all the Buffy and Angel sets, 2 for $80. Not a great deal for the first seasons, but decent enough for new copies of everything else. -

Gah. Another thread to subscribe to and never visit. I've still only got Buffy's S1&2 and Angel's S1 on DVD. After a long while of not watching either show, I'm taping both series again, because my old VCR died. When I play the old tapes on the new VCR, I have to listen to an annoying constant high pitch, which gives me this Gentlemen-like sensation that my head's going to explode. Thankfully, the whole process is a lot easier with a DVR. And it seems like an especially dull summer for new TV, so the timing works. Most recent episodes I've watched are Choices and Couplet. -
http://www.tv.com The site recently launched, and it looks pretty good. It's got a similar style to MP3.com, with some GameSpot features in there as well. I think it took a lot of content, such as episode guides, from TVTome.com, which CNET bought a few months ago. There's a lot of options for rating and reviewing series, episodes, actors, etc., and you gain member points for contributing (if you care about that kind of thing). You can also track specific series, actors, writers, directors, and so on. I'm not sure what good that does at the moment, aside from putting them in a list for you. I'm hoping they do something like GameSpot, where you'll get e-mailed when there's a new update related to that show/person. The registration system's connected to other CNET sites, so if you've already got an account with GameSpot, GameFAQs, or MP3.com, you can sign in using that.

I hope they keep TV Tome around. All of that flashy shit hurts my old computer, and I just need the basic text tables for an episode list. Plus, the TV Tome URLs are a lot easier to remember. For example: http://tvtome.com/Lost vs. http://www.tv.com/lost/show/24313/summary.html

Indy wrestler dies after missing a plancha

That's awful. Sorry to Lucha and jcmar, and anyone else who knew him. http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=10593&p=1 PWI updated the article. Spider was taking a moonsault, and his head somehow ended up crashing into the ground, with the opponent's weight on top of him. -

I'm thinking Walt is an evil little shit. He wanted to be caught by the Others for whatever reason. That's why he burnt down the first raft--so he'd stay on the island. When the second raft came around, he'd already had the premonition that he'd be captured at sea, so he went along with the plan to leave the island. Walt started to get close to his dad, just to fuck with him for abandoning him after he was born, then trying to do it again (the airport phone call), so it'd hurt all the more when he was taken. I'm pretty sure he was pushing for Michael to shoot the flare. Or maybe he's seen what's in the hatch, and just wants to get the heck away from Jack, Locke and the bunch, who don't have any idea what they're doing. The Others are the lesser of two evils, because they know not to mess with the island.
-
So why'd the Others take Claire at all? Diversion? Or was that just Ethan?

Those last few episodes were so great, I'm almost tempted to go out and buy the first season on DVD. Stupid Jewish soap opera. I've got to imagine if Tate Donovan and Amanda Righetti make their way back next season, some shit will go down between Julie, Haylie and Jimmy. Haylie isn't likely to let Julie have Cal's fortune and Jimmy without a battle. (Assuming Cal didn't change his will before he died.)
