    OAO SmackDown! Thread - September 2, 2004

My sister, with JBL on-screen: "Who's that? And why does he look so weird?" Unfortunately, he lost the neck halo, so the hat comedy was tragically short-lived.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

A few corrections to the tourney thread: Grave is 6.22 The Trial is 2.09 I'm gonna have trouble remembering some of these episodes. I probably haven't seen most of Angel's last 3 seasons since they aired, and I only have Not Fade Away available. Some of the initial matchups are kind of unfortunate, too. Time Bomb really has no chance against Passion, but I really liked that episode. Ah well.

    OAO Big Buffyverse Tourney Thread

Here's the ranking pages from TVTome. Buffy Angel I wouldn't mind seeing When She Was Bad and This Year's Girl in there. WSWB, just because I thought it was the first episode to really grasp the Whedonverse style we've come to love. (I didn't like S1 very much, partly for the cheesy horror plots, partly because I didn't feel the aforementioned style had really developed yet. Maybe because I watched it after seeing S4-7, I was expecting more.) It also completely wraps up The Master story, and Buffy's coping with, you know, dying that first time. TYG, because it was part of the very good Faith series on both shows.

Rate these American TV shows for me please

The girl from that show was in Thirteen and is pretty hot now...I don't know when that show was from, though. One of the later episodes featured a controversial kissing scene with her (Evan Rachel Wood) and Mischa Barton. Now I remember why I liked the show.

The OAO Raw Thread for 08/30/04

This is one of those blocks of time where you're really glad your anti-wrestling dad is watching Raw with you.

Rate these American TV shows for me please

Once & Again is pretty much a sappy family drama chick show, but I really liked what little I saw of it.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Not much to speak of in 5B5, but there's always the classic Becoming scene. http://www.geocities.com/deviousbroccoli/t...hecleavage.html On a much less perverted note, I will say that Julie Benz has a really sweet, soothing voice. I'd say the same about Mary Steenburgen.

    Quick WWE survey

    1) The WWE product is better now than it was one year ago. True. 2) The WWE product is better now than it was three years ago. False. 3) The WWE product is better now than it is five years ago. Don't remember '99. 4) I believe the in-ring product has improved in the last three years. Yes and no. 5) I believe the storylines/feuds/angles have improved in the last three years. False. 6) I wish WCW and ECW were still in existence. True. 7) The WWE will have no real competition in the next five years. Looking at things now, true. 8) It was smart for the WWE to go to a "less is more" in ring style. False. It's not smart for everyone to use it. 9) I believe the RAW brand is superior to Smackdown. True. 10) If I could convince Vince Macmahon to push one guy on either roster to the moon, it would be: Ideally, Paul London. Realistically, Chris Jericho.

D'oh. Beat to the punch. I guess I can watch Five by Five for the heck of it.

Let's discuss this. I'd wondered about that. Did anyone ever mention Jasmine during season 5?

Anya also had all sorts of pre-marital sex, and bragged about it. That's, like, super mega fluffy bunny hell.

    What has wrestling taught you?

A kick to the gut is the ultimate way to temporarily stun someone. Running across the ring twice, halting your momentum to do a silly pose, then dropping an elbow will deal extra pain to the victim. Wearing Reebok Pumps gives you super strength. A neckbreaker will not literally break your neck. At least not for long. See also: Backbreaker, Gutbuster, Brainbuster, Spinebuster, etc. If you were burnt as a child, later in life, you will be able to make fire burst out of the same 4 places, every week, simply by raising, then quickly lowering your arms. Various "splash" moves, ironically, do not involve any water.

Blatant Stealing from the WWE Folder

I think it has a lot of potential. The renditions they've held so far haven't necessarily been mind-blowing, partly because of the talent they throw in there almost every time (Shane & Kazarian), partly because they only get about 12 minutes apiece, if I'm remembering correctly. Then there's the faulty gimmick (#1), the gimmick being overlooked for a ladder (#2), the somewhat underwhelming finale to a disappointing show (#3), and a terrible, terrible ending (#4).

Then they can do an interpromotional match...Tajiri vs. Carlito...In a Mist Match! First one to use their version of the Mist gets the win. That'd leave a pretty mess in the ring.

I was only half-paying attention to the first half hour or so, but I did see the SSP on Chavo. His head got creamed by Kidman's thigh. Edit: Oh wait, I did hear that. It was pretty good.

    TNA on TSN?!?

I'd say I got my 3 bucks' worth for the month tonight. They showed the 6-man elimination X Title #1 contender's match from week 4, which I just love.

    The Amazing Race 5 Returns

I found it hilarious that Colin was haggling and almost going to jail over 50 bucks of what's pretty much the producers' money.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

It wasn't great timing, or an especially good episode, but it made sense to have a Buffy-centric story at the end of the series. I've heard they filmed all but the last 4 or 5 episodes by the time the cancellation was announced, so they did have to cram a lot of stuff in at the end.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

The TVTome rankings are flawed, since it's not necessarily Angel fans doing the voting. I voted for a bunch of episodes for Buffy's 4th and Angel's 1st seasons, but I used a scale compared to average TV, rather than other episodes from the same series, so it was all 6 to 10 scores being handed out. I watched Reunion today, with Darla's return to the vampire side, and her reunion with Dru. The whole situation in the wine cellar was darn good.

    Wal Mart dvd bin

My sister got The Virgin Suicides. I can't be bothered to dig through a bunch of discs with "Ninja" and "Dead" in the titles, especially since I'm not a big movie fan.
