  1. Kurt did have a baby after most of the stuff you pointed out (Eric's apperance with Brock might be the exception), so maybe he's become a new, gung-ho-for-family man as a father.
  2. Is that the one with the VCR and "Forgive Me Uncle Eric"? I'm hoping I can get this eventually, but I'm having problems finding someone around here who's even heard of the Flair DVD. I may order both from Amazon.ca tonight.
  3. My brother likes the Rumble match, and I wouldn't mind seeing what happens. I should like most of the event, as long as Goldberg doesn't win, and they finish off the Holly feud.
  4. I didn't figure it'd gone unmentioned, but I only saw one Holly-related thread on the first few pages, and it was about the Hardcore Title. And to be fair, I asked about people other than Holly. So I'm only ragging on him in a backhanded, cowardly sort of way.
  5. I'd thought of Faarooq, but he had the Nation behind him storyline-wise, and was a WCW champ before that. I don't remember anything about the angle that brought him to a title shot, unless it was "Give the black man a chance", so I can't comment there. You could throw Bulldog's 2000 run in there too.
  6. Good gravy, the mystic chair? You've convinced me, sir.
  7. The story's been pulled off well enough, but... it's Bob Holly. I think that's what I was trying to emphasize moreso than the booking. Big Show is getting crippled, and hiring protection, and Lesnar is running... from Bob Holly.
  8. I don't mean a one-night deal where the rookie or hometown guy gets a title shot. Has there ever been a multi-show/week feud for a company's major title, where someone who would probably struggle in the mid-card is being pushed as a legit contender? Even during the finale to the Taker vs. Hardy feud in mid-'02, they had me halfway convinced that Jeff might nab the belt, the idea of Jeff Hardy as WWE champ notwithstanding.
  9. I'd say they're more guilty of "What a shot!" "unique", "modified", "a variation of a" "We're too nice to say 'fucked up' on the air, but I'm sure we'll spank this guy 'accidentally' at a later date."
  10. IMDB says it's coming out March 19th in the UK. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327850/releaseinfo
  11. It's the damn Canadian ratings board and Koch's fault. Can someone explain the story here? I've been curious why we have to wait when it's seemingly the same content, packaging, etc.
  12. I think they used the gimmick very well, without overdoing it. But it wouldn't have killed them to make the match another 10 minutes and maybe cut Jarrett's time, for Christ's sake. The heels trying to cheat the match, springing off the ropes, and jumping off the chair was nicely done. I liked how they used the ladder in the same regard, but I thought it went a little long (one of those infamous 5-minute+ ref bumps). If they're trying to put over their innovative match idea, they should have used it more. Nobody else uses cables that I'm aware of, while the ladder's been almost overdone in the past 5 years or so.
  13. Ultimate X.2, with nothing coming close. They did a good job fixing the bugs (maybe too good, if you ask Sabin), but I still would've liked it to be a little longer, and they didn't work the gimmick into the match a whole lot. I'm still glad I saw the show (err... match), but without a UX.2 next week, I don't have any reason to order. The rest was pretty boring, and I didn't start watching TNA to pay to be bored by wrestling any more.
  14. Was the IC title match at Armageddon Orton's favour, or has he not called it in yet?
  15. Ultimate X was the X Division MOTY (which is still a little kooky, and reeks of Ultimate X2 promotion ). I imagine they'll have overall MOTY on this week's second Best Of show.
  16. I still say they're not quite crazy enough to put Holly in a PPV main event. So I'll point out again that the first SD! taping of the year is in Alabama. One final week of buildup, a title match, maybe a gimmick rematch a week or two after that, then perhaps Rey can win a #1 contender's match for his rematch at the Rumble.
  17. Spanky's 5-minute tryout match vs. Angle on the SD! after No Way Out was good. Aside from Rhyno's return and falling asleep in the stands, it's the only thing I remember about the only show I saw live this year.
  18. The January 6th SD! taping is in Huntsville, Alabama.
  19. Is there a universal no-DQ rule in effect? In the last two shows I've seen, I could probably count 10 easy DQ calls. I don't know if they're trying to make the referees look stupid (even by ref standards), but at least WWE puts some effort in with lame distractions. When the ref is standing in the corner, watching Sting lay the bat into Luger time after time, it makes me wonder if they care about what they're doing.
  20. He wrestled Friday night, for what it's worth. http://www.pwtorch.com/artman/publish/arti...icle_5987.shtml
  21. I guess he took that brutal package piledriver, so I wouldn't be surprised.
  22. Kid Romeo vs. Low-Ki vs. Elix Skipper vs. Tony Mamaluke vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Christopher Daniels was a cool match, and I think it's easy enough to find. I believe that was also everyone but Low-Ki and Lynn's debut TNA match.
  23. They won't be able to do the required clusterfuck of running, over-the-top-to-the-outside moves in a battle royal.
  24. A round of underachievement for everyone! Kash-Dutt was a little short. X Title was a match with 3 heels (though they're all popular to an extent), and wasn't nearly what it could have been. Tag Title match was decent, with some inexplicable referee ignorance. (Gilberti beating someone down on the outside in plain view isn't a DQ?) AJ gets jobbed, more poor ref booking (Low blows ho!), and the double turn lacked punch, probably because it was already two-thirds there before the show even started. Etc, etc. All that said, though, I don't regret ordering. It was good enough. I for one can't wait to see the BatB rematch, with some lovely exchanges of shots as stiff as the ones these smilies are displaying. And I'm lying real good. Sign of the night: "Don't Let The Cancer Invade TNA", or something to that effect.
  25. I would've been willing to forgive the Steiner beating, because it was as if Austin was serving as a condoit for Stacy's pent-up frustration over being treated like shit for the past month or two. They were even playing up that angle, with the camera cutting to Stacy smiling, and her egging on the "Austin!" chants. The whole thing was kind of sweet, in a way. Then he stuns her because she doesn't like beer? Hello? Did they not learn anything from the Mae Young silent treatment? They covered their asses a bit with the Jericho/Trish segment, which was pretty cool. But if they're trying to portray Jericho as a heel, and Austin as a face, they're not doing a very good job.
