Toys R Us Buy 2 Get 1 Free Sale

For any Canadians that happen to pop into the thread, TRU here has 25% off game accessories, which includes point cards. There's a few other Wii deals too: $10 Wii Zapper, $10 for some older Ubisoft games. I think the sale ends tomorrow or Friday.

Couple of Rockstar-related bits: First off is the Xbox 360 GTA IV Cause Chaos Live Weekend. Register, download a picture pack, play GTA IV multiplayer, and maybe win some stuff. http://www.xbox.com/CauseChaos Second, there's a half-price Rockstar Games sale on Steam this weekend. $10 for San Andreas, $5 for Vice City, GTA III, the Max Paynes (or $7.50 for both), and so on. Or get everything for a tidy $30. http://store.steampowered.com/publisher/Rockstar%20Games

Damn, I need some points. A whole card's worth. 1600MSP. Which, for 16 songs, is actually pretty decent. Still.

    Rock Band!

I got through "Painkiller" Expert Guitar. Earlier today, I failed 4 or 5 times, at either 49% or 59%, during the first solo. Probably during one of the ascending trills. This past hour, I decided to practice at half speed. Rather than try to strum every note during the main riff, I learned the strum/HO/PO rhythm, and that seemed to have helped. I don't know if it helped to learn that the quick strum parts are in triplets, but I figured that out too. And my reward for the 35-track '90s Infinite Setlist? $180. And a sore hand. (moar liek painCAUSER lawl)

Yep. It's pretty much the PS2 version with a few extra songs, for the same price as the 360/PS3. In North America, at least. Australia's finally getting Rock Band 1 on November 7th. EA apparently doesn't like international money very much. They've really screwed the pooch outside of US & Canada.

I got my new drum pads yesterday. I can't actually use them for playing, with the busted pedal, but I tested them in the drum trainer. When I'm striking the red pad, there's an occasional rattle, or some kind of noise coming from the yellow well (I think). And it misses soft strikes on the green pad about 1 of 8 times. Also, there's a delay of 8 days between when the RMA was submitted to when the Purolator label was printed.

QFT on guitar as well. I went through a 35-song '90s Marathon challenge, only to run face first into that one.

I've got "Bellowing Ragu" for my solo deal. A couple of other Canadian guys and I are "Bangin' Beavers".

I usually play by moving my ankle, rather than my whole leg, since I know the things are fragile. And I'm a big dude, with a big foot. But you look at these songs... and I can't twitch my foot that fast, so I was pretty much curbstomping the thing trying to keep up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcRqW2TCJ5c (Skip to about 1:40) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC8Y7Yq_x2I Hopefully the RB2 pedal is sturdy enough for me to learn how to use it properly. If you're gonna get any replacements from EA, do it quickly. The no-receipt warranty deal ends October 1st. http://support.ea.com/rockband I'm still waiting on my pad replacement; almost 2 weeks now. I'd really like them to get here this week, so I can take the time to figure out if they work or not, in time to potentially ask for yet another set.

    Rock Band!

I finally joined an illustrious club. To The Order of the Snapped Pedals, I hereby say hello. In addition to extensive use over 4 months, I think "Drain You" started things off the other day, and "We Got the Beat" did the real damage sometime yesterday. Last night, after I finished "That's What You Get", I noticed a small crack in the right side, but figured I'd keep playing anyways. Sometime during the very next song--"Pump It Up"--it turned into what you see above.

Sweet Jesus, "Everlong" on guitar is pure bliss. "One Step Closer", however, just hurt my hand. And it's fucking Tier 1.

For anyone wondering, exporting the Rock Band 1 songs uses 1.52GB of hard drive space, and takes about 9½ minutes to rip.

Or maybe Jim Ross and the Hosses. (For a band name.) I haven't watched wrestling in 2 years, so I won't come up with anything currently relevant.

GT = DeviousBroccoli I can do guitar, bass or drums for now. I'd usually prefer drums, but my pads suck, and I'll probably try to sell them once they get replaced. I'd prefer not to sing, since I only have the 360 headset, and I kinda suck at it. But I can do a song here and there, if need be. For a band name... err... Dr. Ranch and the Plastic Teeth. I dunno.

I was surprised to find this, but apparently so. I could've sworn I'd read no DLC or online play. And I believe it should be this year. Possibly not until November, though. http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/06/rock-ban...mp-on-features/
