    Rock Band!

I'm a little bummed with the game, to be honest. Seems like there might be strumming problems with some X-Plorers and Les Pauls. I spent a few hours screwing with calibration trying to figure out why I was missing so much on stuff like "3's & 7's". http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14843 I'm a bit of a ScoreHero fiend (even though I'm not that good), so I've been hoping they'd increase the statistical functions in the game. Turns out they've actually taken steps backwards in that regard. If you play a multi-song set, it will display your score (without the note streaks) for all of about 7 seconds, before automatically going on to the next song. It only stops and shows full stats for the last song of the set. And the songs I've played so far haven't exactly set my world on fire. I think "PDA" wins the "Anarchy in the U.K." award for "Dear God, when will this monotonous strumming end?" "Alive" was pretty fun on Hard Drums. "Everlong" too, though it was kind of tiring, and gimped the less hi-hat-crazy parts, so it wasn't as good as I was hoping. Unfortunately, I probably won't be very good at said hi-hat parts on Expert, so I don't know if there'll be a happy medium for me. I can be part of a band eventually, sure. I usually play drums, but my pads are kinda shit. I'm waiting for a replacement, and then I'm hoping to sell them to go towards the bundle. And the guitar is screwy for the time being too. So, I dunno.

    TSM Town Hall: Elimination Chamber

This came during an EC match, but it's not so much an EC spot. Still one of my favourites: http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/6376/gold...slamss03xr5.gif During Goldberg's rampage, he just slams the shit out of Orton.

Trying to avoid those last few posts to stay spoiler-free... Seems to be on Showcase in Canada, starting September 9th.

    Total Non-Stop Action

Way too many DDTs, side Russian leg sweeps, and tilt-a-whirl backbreakers in that video. The ring also seems kinda big. I'll give Borash some credit for the enthusiasm in the ring announcing. That's not something I'm used to hearing.

    Rock Band!

I'm cheap too. But in a world of horse armor and for-pay 60-pixel avatars as DLC, this is pretty inoffensive. To me, anyhow. But I play a shit ton of Rock Band.

What other music game even gives you the option to carry over your songs from title to title? There's only a handful of series off the top of my head that'll carry over your save data from game to game. Five bucks to play 55 songs (admittedly, ones I've already played quite a bit) with the tweaked engine and new features. If you don't want to do that, you can swap discs, like every other game would force you to do. Edit: Or you could pay $6.25 for 3 songs.

Midway LA--formerly Paradox--previously made the Backyard Wrestling series. Though I'd be hard-pressed to call those wrestling games. I think it was the Mortal Kombat team that did WrestleMania.

Comcast limits internet usage at home

Bell and Rogers have had bandwidth caps for a while now. I'm pretty sure it's 90GB for Rogers' "Extreme" line, and 60GB otherwise for high-speed. Here's what Bell gives you. Yes, that's 2GB for a half-gigabit line. I use a DSL re-seller, and even they've got a 200GB cap. It's $10/mo extra for unlimited.

    Mercenaries 2: World In Flames

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169431 That helped convince me I wanted the game. And G4's E3 demonstration. http://www.g4tv.com/e32008/videos/27097/Ex..._In_Flames.html Edit: Not right away, though. I'll probably get it next year sometime.

It's a wrestling game, and wrestling fans are dumb consumer whores. Or something. I dunno. I know they were a bigger name company-wise than TNA, but didn't the shitty PS1 WCW games sell a ton?

More on Steam: Portal is $9.95 this weekend, and a couple of Oddworld games are available. http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?ar...sts&id=1787 http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?ar...sts&id=1782 The Oddworld games are the PS1-era 2D platformers, Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus. And they're available as a package, currently on sale for $13.49. I never played the games, but I heard a lot of praise for them back in the day. There's demos for both.

I have one month of Xbox Live to give away

Yeah, I stumbled right out of the gates on "Day Late, Dollar Short", then missed a note during the solo, and probably another one or two in the middle. Overdrive during the chord sections saved my sorry BUTT. Thanks for the code, Thoth. If you don't mind, I'll probably wait 'til the Rock Band 2 bundle comes out to use it, since I'm likely to play more single player stuff like Mass Effect and Fable in the immediate future.

    Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

I hope there's an option to do no-hold target locking in the full version (I didn't notice it in the demo options), because my hand doesn't want to hold RB and RT, while playing with the right stick at the same time.

    Downloading Orange Box from Steam

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_...pic_id=26210160 Is there multiple discs? Sounds like the guy in that thread used disc 1, which contained a Steam installer, registered the key in Steam, which then proceeded to download his games. He later used disc 2 (and maybe disc 1, I'm not sure) to install the game files, rather than download them on dial-up.

    Downloading Orange Box from Steam

I've never bought a Valve game on disc, so please note that I could be wrong on all this. I've only used (legitimate) product keys that others have given me for my Steam games. I'm fairly sure that The Orange Box requires you to validate your key using Steam, and permanently tie it to your Steam account, retail box or not. I don't know what the exact process is with the retail DVD, but I suspect it simply contains the game data, so you can use that to install, rather than downloading game files, which will likely be several gigabytes. (Not so much fun if you're on dial-up, obviously.) I think if you enter your key via Steam, it will take you through the Terms of Service, and all that, and show you the list of games you've newly licensed. I think it should then give you the option to download any, all, or none of them at that point. Long story short, I think you're safe with just the product key, as long as you don't mind downloading the games. Though if it's an option, I don't think it'd hurt to try to get a replacement disc.

Steam has Audiosurf and Beyond Good & Evil for $5 each this weekend. http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?ar...sts&id=1771 http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?ar...sts&id=1770 I've got BG&E on PC already, but I'd might as well go for Audiosurf at that price, since I can't get it on a disc.

I have one month of Xbox Live to give away

That should work. No later than 8 if possible, since I've got an appointment Thursday morning. Here's the DLC I've got, in case you want to do something off-disc: http://dlcquickplay.com/xbox/deviousbroccoli

I have one month of Xbox Live to give away

I'm probably a lot more open schedule-wise, so you can choose a time. I'm a decent Expert-level player for guitar and drums on most songs. It's mainly the crazy solos ("Highway Star", "Green Grass and High Tides", etc.) that'll wreck me on guitar. Drums, I can't get by "I Get By" (how 'bout that) or "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", and I have trouble with really bass-heavy stuff, since I'm not exactly using the pedal properly. And "Run to the Hills" is just fucked, even on Hard.

I don't know if you consider yourself good at Rock Band, but if you wanna have a go at a Score Duel, we could do that. (Preferably not singing. ) I'm not an excellent player by any means, but it might be worth a shot. My current XBL month expires on the 2nd, for what it's worth.

    Xbox 360

That's weird. I've done it before when I switched from the 360 to PC and back again, and it didn't need to be simultaneous.

    Xbox 360

If they're standard Microsoft wireless controllers, push the silver guide button to turn them on. If they don't automatically sync with the 360, push the small round button beside the memory card ports on the console, and then the very small button on top of the controller, between the LB button and play & charge port. That should assign the controller to one of the 4 slots. There should be corresponding sections of light, both around the guide button, and the power button on the console. Also, if you've got a bunch of wired controllers, like Rock Band or Guitar Hero stuff, unplug it. I'm pretty sure you're only allowed to use 4 controllers at a time, wired or wireless.

There should be a Force Unleashed demo going up today or tomorrow.
