  4. I did a little more career today. I seem to either hand a decisive beating, or take one. Not really much in between in the way of a competitive fight. I can finally throw a head kick now, after levelling up my Muay Thai. The Judo sessions are brutal, though. I think I've completed 5 tasks in 2 tries.

Next week we have a 3-pack from Ministry, two from The Zombies, and one from The Cranberries. Don't linger on these tracks once they show up in the store. HA! Hahahahahahahaha!

    ...

I'll go back in my hole now.

    Tracks:

    Ministry - “Cuz U R Next”

    Ministry - “LiesLiesLies”

    Ministry - “The Great Satan”

The Zombies - “She’s Not There”

The Zombies - “Tell Her No”

    The Cranberries - “Linger”

(All tracks are original master recordings)

The Ministry tracks will be available for purchase as part of the “Ministry Pack 01” or as individual tracks for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 system. These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks only for Wii.

    Release Date:

    Tuesday, May 26, 2009

(Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 and in-game Rock Band 2 Music Store for Wii)

    Thursday, May 28, 2009

    (PlayStation®Store)

    Price:

$1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) for Xbox 360 per track

$2.00 (200 Wii Points for Wii) per track

$5.49 (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for “Ministry Pack 01”

  6. I got Cro Cop'd again. Then beat by Mark Coleman in my last fight. I seem to be getting my ass kicked against the experienced fighters. I hope after my next Muay Thai camp, if I get enough points to level up, I'll get some kind of flying knee special.

  7. You get higher valued sponsors over time, but you only get the points for each logo once. The extra 9 THQ logos? Pointless.

Pretty sure I got 350 sponsor cred for my last fight. 35 x 10 logos. Probably not how it should be, but I think that's how it's working.

  8. I found my character after all. I figured I'd still have to go to New Career, since I hadn't actually gone beyond the character creation, but after saving, I had to Load Career.

I am having fun with it now. Got myself a Judo/Muay Thai heavyweight. I think I'm 7-1-0 now. Got Cro Cop'd pretty nicely. By Cro Cop, appropriately enough. My first actual card win was KO of the night via Muay Thai whip, knee to the head.

For the sponsor logos on your trunks, I just loaded up 10 for THQ, since they give you 35 cred over 20 for everyone else. I don't know if it makes any difference with the size of the logo. And you'd think the more variety of sponsors you have, the more that'd help. But I guess not. Has anyone noticed any hidden depth to that whole process?

  9. Ok, fuck this noise. I just spent at least half an hour poking around creating my character, I saved, then was told to play with my attributes. I didn't see that in the menu right away (it is actually there), so I pressed B to go back. And now my fighter's gone. gssmiley-indifferent.gif

You know, not that it looked like me, without any real definition to the beard, or length on the hair, or the colours actually showing up like the colours. But cripes.

  10. I opened my copy tonight. It's pretty good for what it is, and a solid first effort. I kinda like it, definitely don't love it so far. Pretty sure it's going back to EB before the week's done.

    Why is that?

Full $69 +tax store credit if it's traded back within a week. Not for every game. It just happened to be for this one. If I don't love the thing, I'd might as well get near $80 for something else.

I bolded a few extra key points there.

Pics of Lennon's and Harrison's stand alone gutairs to be able to buy with Beatles: Rockband. For 99 dollars, hopefully together and not each because I might buy Lennon's but not for a c-note.

Had some extra HTTPs in there.

I have a feeling it is $99 each, given that the standalone RB2 guitar is $69. Licensing costs/gratuitous Beatles markup FTW.

Or maybe it's actually a better guitar. I dunno. I haven't especially liked any Rock Band guitar I've used yet, so an improvement would be nice.

Sorry for the slight delay in posting. Server issues... exciting! Here's the DLC announcement for tracks coming out next week. Hopefully there's a little something for everyone in this varied assortment of tracks. Dig in!

    Social Distortion - "Bad Luck"

Social Distortion - "Ring of Fire"

Social Distortion - "Story of My Life"

    Disturbed - "Stricken"

    Disturbed - "Stupify"

    Steely Dan - "Black Friday"

Steely Dan - "My Old School"

    Elvis Costello - "Radio Radio"

The Replacements - "Kids Don't Follow"

    All tracks are master recordings.

    Release Dates:

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 (Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360® and in-game Rock Band 2 Music Store for Wii)

    Thursday, May 14, 2009 (PlayStation®Store)

** Dates for Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change **

    Price:

$1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 per track

$2.00 or 200 Wii Points for Wii per track

$5.49 (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for “Social Distortion Pack 01”

Neat. "Stricken" is one of the few Guitar Hero III songs I genuinely enjoy. Doesn't mean I'll grab it, necessarily, but I'll check it out.

  17. Bah. I thought it might be on-disc somehow. Nope, just a download code and some Collector's Edition type stuff.

That's not a bad deal if you haven't bought anything yet. I imagine people who have bought the map packs will feel cheesed (judging by the Major Nelson comments). Though I suspect they would've charged $20 for 7 maps and a new SP level on their own. The existing maps thrown in are probably considered a bonus for those who don't have it yet.

Edit: The Snowblind, Combustible and Flashback packs are currently going for 2,000MSP ($25) combined, for what it's worth.

Next week we have a nice, varied selection of tracks coming out. Who do we have? How about the Allman Brothers Band? What about a Franz Ferdinand 3-pack? Or some Luscious Jackson, Alien Ant Farm . What if we followed that up with some, I don't know, Prong and The Distillers. Will that work for you? Works for me.

We'll announce the Wii tracks for next week on Monday, see you then.

    Tracks:

Franz Ferdinand - "Do You Want To"

    Franz Ferdinand - "Lucid Dreams"

Franz Ferdinand - "Take Me Out"

Alien Ant Farm - "Smooth Criminal"

    Allman Bros - "Blue Sky"

    Allman Bros - "Midnight Rider"

    Distillers - "Drain the Blood"

    Luscious Jackson - "Naked Eye"

    Prong - "Idealistic Types"

    Prong - "The Banishment"

(All tracks are original master recordings)

    Price:

$1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points per track

    Thursday, May 7, 2009 (PlayStation®Store)

  19. Maybe it's just me who is turning into an old fucker, but does a magnifying glass for the DS exist? I never had any vision problems, always 20/20 and all, but even just 30 minutes of glaring at the screen hurts my eyes.

I bought the system last summer mainly for the old school JRPG remakes. At the rythmn I can play, I'm gonna be good for at least ten years.

This might be a dumb question, but is the screen brightness maybe too high or too low?
