Paul Londons Promo On Velocity *spoilers*

If that's the case, then it may only be a matter of time before Cena gets a "Cena sucks!" chant every time he talks on the mic in a few months or has a match. It looks like the WWE fans are seeing how bland/annoying WWE's face characters are now.
  2. There can still be technical cruiserweights like Noble and Nunzio that try to ground the high-flyers by working over body parts until they make a comeback later in the match with the high spots while selling the injuries. That's fine with me if a match like that comes about once in a while, because it worked for the Malenko/Mysterio match back in WCW. What the Cruiserweight division SHOULDN'T be, however, is a match that reminds me of Batista vs. JBL or Batista vs. HHH matches with crappy brawling, restholds, slow movement, stalling, etc. Like RRR said:"I hate Cruisers brawling." Hopefully, though, TNA can take advantage of this in October with the X-Division.
  3. Tazz keeps on talking about Jillian's mole after Cole's comment:"Cole, I honestly think Jillian's mole looks like pizza cheese or somethin', you know what I'm sayin'?" Cole:"Tazz, stop talking about that so much, I've told you I don't know how many times for the past couple of weeks." Tazz suddenly yells:"OH MY GOD, COLE! JILLIAN'S MOLE IS OOZIN' OUT LIKE A GUSHA!! BLUE RASPBERRY!!" Cole gets extremely pissed and drops the "F" bomb on Smackdown (although it gets bleeped, of course):"TAZZ, SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE GOD DAMN MOLE!! I'M TRYING TO CALL A FUCKING MATCH, AND YOU KEEP DISTRACTING ME BY TALKING ABOUT JILLIAN'S DAMN MOLE EVERY WEEK!!" Tazz:"Sheesh, Cole, take a chill pill, man..."

Comments that don't warrant a thread

PS3 won't be out until 2007 (aka after the 630 and Revolution are released): From Gamespot: "Buried in an analyst's memo, written shortly after last week's Electronic Arts earnings call, was a hidden gem. According to the widely read team at Wedbush Morgan Securities, Sony may delay the release of the PlayStation 3 until 2007--if exactly the right conditions prevail. Currently, the console is slated to appear in Japan before the end of that company's fiscal year--March 31, 2006--and in North America before the end of 2006. Given the right set of circumstances, however, that release window (at least in North America) could intentionally lag until after the 2006 holiday buying season. In a research memo sent to investors, Wedbush senior analyst Michael Pachter set up the following scene for a delayed PS3 launch. It starts with the current-generation Xbox being priced down to $99 post-Xbox 360 launch, but no lower. Concurrent with that situation--an Xbox 360 at an unspecified price and the Xbox at $99--Sony would drop the price of the PlayStation 2 to $99. There are two components to that pricing strategy: the first is that a $99 PS2 would offer a significant distraction as the 360 launches. As Pachter states: "We believe that the company will attempt to disrupt the Xbox 360 launch with a price cut, and as a result may succeed in diverting attention away from the higher-priced next-generation console." In addition to the "diversion rationale" is the supporting fact that "the redesigned PS2 carries a manufacturing cost of less than $99," according to Pachter. New consoles are noteworthy for the fact that at the beginning of their manufacturing cycle, the units are sold at a loss. Given that the PS2, according to Pachter, would cost less to make than to sell, it behooves Sony to extend demand for that product for as long as possible. And if Microsoft takes the Xbox price no lower than $99 (still a loss for Microsoft, according to Pachter), Sony will find itself in a win-win situation. Another cornerstone in Pachter's theory is Sony not wanting to disappoint consumers and retailers by having too few units in the channel over the high-demand weeks of this coming December. Pachter says, "we believe that Sony suffered the ignominy of being unable to satisfy holiday ['04] demand in order to increase its gross profits over the short term." If the PS3 launches in late '06 and suffers the same fate, Sony would be embarrassed for a second straight year. Without any PS3's in the channel, there's no chance of a shortage of stock. A backward theory perhaps, but a theory based in fact nonetheless. The key point in Pachter's argument weighs heavily on what sort of showing the 360 has at launch. If the 360 tallies significant sales early, Sony would need to fire on all cylinders and get the PS3 into the channel ASAP. However: "Should Microsoft fail to garner sufficient software support to gain an insurmountable lead, we think that there is a possibility that the PS3 launch will slip into early 2007." Following the distribution of the memo last week, GameSpot spoke with Pachter who emphasized that he "posited the thought as option value for Sony." Continuing, he said, "I think the 360 will do quite well." But if the 360 does an about-face at launch and tanks, the above Plan B could be an option the cash-strapped Sony might just consider." Wow. I thought the horrible-looking controller, the "supercomputer" design, the insanely expensive price, and the Blu-Ray disc drive of the PS3 were bad, but this certainly puts Sony in last place this time around in the console gaming department. On a different note, for some reason, I've been losing interest in video games in the last few years. Possibly because so many developers have been putting out shit games for a while, and the few games that are good for the most part are from genres that I'm not interested in. If the PS3 article needed a thread, then I apologize for that.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

The Hardcore title better not be one of the titles that I'll have to go after in Season mode, or THQ/Yukes clearly haven't been paying attention to all of the titles currently featured in WWE for the last few years if that's the case.
  6. "Now das' coooooollll!!"
  7. And that was just one move that was the only thing good about the entire match at KOTR. The finish was a weak powerbomb from Jamie Noble, BTW.
  8. After seeing that posted, I now know that the last time Benoit used the Dragon Suplex as a part of his regular moveset in WWE was at No Way Out 2001 in the Fatal 4 Way match. It was then not seen anymore from Benoit until Velocity this year against Regal. BTW, I started having low expectations for WWE Cruiserweight matches when The Hurricane and Jamie Noble wrestled a WWE-style match at KOTR 2002. Their Velocity match then turned out to be ironically better than their KOTR match with Hurricane actually doing high-risk moves.
  9. Velocity. Benoit and Regal were both moved ("moved back" in Benoit's case) to Smackdown earlier this summer. I agree. I've actually remembered seeing RESTHOLDS in CRUISERWEIGHT matches in WWE over the past few years, in addition to some shitty brawling. Now, this will become even more noticeable, which is a damn shame considering how good wrestlers like Jamie Noble, Paul London, Spanky (as of this year from what I read about his 2005 ROH work, it's even better now), etc. really are.

    CM Punk's gimmick

Oh yeah, that's right. I remember him pushing Angle in the wheelchair last year because the Big Show "ended his career" by throwing him off from a high platform backstage and the back of Angle's head was busted open (it was really a stuntman taking the fall).
  11. I think Benoit might have given a Dragon Suplex to Angle in the Wrestlemania 2000 Triple Threat Double Title match with Jericho in it and accidentally injured Angle's neck a little from what I read a while back.
  12. He was using the Dragon Suplex earlier this year right after he became "Futuristic Caveman Jimmy Jacobs rip-off" Paul London in a Cruiserweight Elimination match on a Smackdown PPV. The sad thing is it'll be rare to see anymore in WWE with Vince being so cautious about high-risk moves getting wrestlers "injured often" now. Of course, Vince toned down head-dropping moves a while back, which is why I only saw Chris Benoit using a Dragon Suplex against Regal on Velocity not too long ago, but within the past few years, Benoit hadn't even used it.
  13. If Hogan did it, he'd break his new hip for sure. Still, I don't see WWE allowing Psicosis doing the Guillotine Legdrop anymore due to WWE's recent bullshit of toning down the high-flying moves even more except for certain wrestlers.
  14. Actually, it may be just be the Flying axehandle, because the Flying clothesline is a trademark of Kane's/Shelton Benjamin's.
  15. Fuck. I'm not too excited about Spanky and Noble back in WWE now since everyone in the Cruiserweight division is going to be wrestling even more like junior heavyweights. BTW, Steve Romero should definitely not say anything about "high-flying action" now if NO ONE in the Cruiserweight division is going to be allowed to do top rope moves anymore.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

Don't count on an extra Cruiserweight being added yet. After all, last year's game only had Rey Mysterio and Chavo/Kerwin White as Cruiserweights. I still hope the Cruiserweight title's re-added though so London can finally make it to a WWE Smackdown game.

    CM Punk's gimmick

How would the wheelchair wrestler be able to get into the ring? Also, wouldn't his only moves be running into and over people with the wheelchair, or would he still be able to punch and kick, too?

OAO SD thread for 8/4/05, blah, blah, blah...

Right. There's something wrong when one of the announcers is talking about Jillian's "mole" constantly during a match instead of the tag team that's actually IN the match (MNM/Mercury and Nitro). Damn, it's almost as bad as when The King talks about "puppies" whenever he sees a Raw diva. On a better note, Rey vs. Christian was good.

Big Dust meeting with Steph today

Holy shit, Y2Jerk is turning into Jericho! Thanks for the laugh. It really sounded like something Jericho would actually say. Not to sound dumb, though, but did Jericho really say that at one time? I can't remember.

    Two Cruiserweights Return to WWE

That's what I'm hoping, but it's not like WWE's going to go through with it.

    Two Cruiserweights Return to WWE

London's been using generic rock music for almost a year now. He had Spanky's theme up until Billy Kidman turned on him last year to break up their team. As for the Mexicools competing in the tag division, how the hell's that going to work since it's a 3-man stable instead of a tag team with just two wrestlers in it? I'm guessing that it'll be Psicosis and Super Crazy teaming up with Juvi being their manager that tries to cheat to help them win matches. Although that means Juvi won't be doing much as far as going after a championship is concerned, and if Juvi's the one teaming with Psicosis instead, then Super Crazy won't have anything to do.

    CM Punk's gimmick

That's a relief. CM Punk's career would have been screwed over as badly as Jillian Hall's if the "deaf" character turned out to be true.

    WWE Signs Tatanka

WWE bringing in more older wrestlers that have nothing left to prove anymore...sounds just like WCW! Ugh. WWE has become hypocritical in the last few years considering they used to poke fun at WCW having older, broken-down wrestlers in the main-event scene/putting the spotlight on them over younger talent.

Does Raw have the worst talent in years?

WWE already did that with the Bashams and Shaniqua. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time that WWE's rehashed old ideas/characters.

The OAO Raw thread for 08.01.05

I actually liked those matches, too. Although there have been way too many Eddie/Rey matches this year and I hope after Summerslam that it's the end of their feud. I agree that Raw sucked last week. It did this week, too, though. Jericho still doesn't look like a true title contender because he hasn't earned it in a match, Tatanka's back, the Diva Search continues to bore the hell out of everyone, the Bischoff/Cena feud is shit, WWE had Matt Hardy saying that he hoped Edge would die in a carwreck in a promo and killed Kane's heat by admitting to the crowd that the Kane/Lita marriage was a storyline, Shelton Benjamin suddenly isn't going after the IC title and has lost to Carlito and Chris Masters, etc.
