Wasn't expecting to go offense again, but the way the picks have panned out, I feel this is the most efficient pick for my team. Going with a position that hasn't been touched yet... Larry Csonka - FB 5x Pro Bowl 2x All Pro 2x Super Bowl Champ Super Bowl 8 MVP (145 yds, 2 TDs) Comeback Player of the Year in 1979 Dolphins #39 Retired Pro Football HoF 1987 4.3 yd/carry career average With a lot of good linemen going, I figure that's no excuse to not have quality blockers at other positions. Most of Csonka's impressive stats concern his running ability, but the guy was a terrific blocker as well. Of course, having him as a dual running threat with Allen will give defenses a lot to think about, and it also pretty much eliminates the need for picking up a second running back. While he wasn't used as a receiver much, he was also sure-handed. He adds a lot to my offense.

Houston is a nice pick, although I'm not sure it's a steal. I think there are still a lot of good safteys out there. And JTCE, I'm a little surprised that Gonzalez fell to me, especially after Sharpe went (my pick was a toss up between those two). I'm glad other people's infatuation with older players kept Tony on the board. I guess I could see Winslow going ahead of Tony, but I was surprised that Newsome went before him as well.

I was thinking about going with a TE after my last pick, and I was scared when I saw there was a mini-rush happening. Thankfully this guy still made it back to me. Tony Gonzalez - TE 9x Pro Bowl 8x All Pro Most Career TD's by a TE (66) Most Career Receptions by a TE (820) Actually led the NFL in receptions one year from the TE position Slam dunk for the all 2000's team With a lethal passer like Tom Brady at the QB position, I need as many receiving threats as I can get on the field. I find that WR is a pretty overrated position when you have a lethally accurate QB, as you just need some guys who can catch. However, having guys who can catch while still serving other purposes (running and play action threat of Allen, blocking from Gonzalez) are valuable assets to the offense. Tony will be testing the coverage skills of all these elite linebackers over the middle of the field, and will be a top-tier blocker at the line and downfield as well.

Steve Nash was the starting PG on the league's best offense 6 years in a row. And that was with 2 different teams. I'd say he goes in easy, but he'll have a hard time winning over the "must get to the finals" crowd. Thanks to Suns Management's decisions, the only way he'll get to the finals is as a backup on a good team during the final years of his career.

Interesting choice since Peyton's not really a WCO QB.

I continue with my effort to reunite the All 90's Defense with... Aeneas Williams - CB 8x Pro Bowl 5x All Pro 90's All Decade Team 55 career INT's 795 career tackles I'd say he's also being inducted to the Cardinals Ring of Fame or whatever this season, but that might seem like damning him with faint praise. Even though he played for a shitty team for his best years, he's still a tremendous individual player and gives me my ace corner. Hopefully Harley plans on drafting a RB who can block.

When was the last time we saw some real 8 on 5 action favoring the road team? There might be a riot in Boston if we see some Heat/Mavs Game 5 level officiating.
-
The Lakers better hope for a league conspiracy, otherwise they're gonna get stomped in Boston on Tuesday. That was a very uninspiring win for the LA, blowing two separate double digit leads against a Boston team playing without their starting center and Leon Powe being non-existant after he was announced as a starter. KG played pretty terribly too. The Celts really should maul the Lakers in Game 6.

Hard to believe Brooks was still around close to the 6th round with his credentials. He was one of the other two I considered with my last pick.
-
Nice choice with Harrison. I was debating between 3 players with this pick, and I'll be happy if just one of the other two gets back to me. Since I have a LB and a DB, I figured I'd go DL with this pick, and I've settled on... John Randle - DT 7x Pro Bowl 7x All Pro 90's All Decade Team 137.5 career sacks (T - 5th all time) Watch out, VX, my guy's comin' for ya. Just what I need on my defense. A big nasty motherfucker that'll get some sacks, strips, and heckle the oppostion. Safe to say my defense shouldn't have much trouble pressuring opposing QBs so far.

Looking at the first post, he has 3 players, so he hasn't missed any picks except this one.

I was wondering how long Starr would last, especially with quite a few teams needing QB's.
-
The sad part is that if any of that is true, it's all going to be written off and ignored as the crazed ramblings of a convicted felon.

Bah, I was hoping to get Strahan, but as soon as I saw he reitred yesterday, I knew no one was going to forget about him. Nice timing, Michael. I'll go back to offense for a round then. Marcus Allen - RB 6x Pro Bowl 5x All Pro 1982 O. RotY 1985 NFL MVP (1759 rushing yds, 110 yds/game, 2314 yds from scrimmage) 1993 Comeback player of the year 2003 Pro Football Hall of Fame SB 18 MVP (191 rushing yards, 1 TD, 2nd longest run in SB history) 12,000+ career rushing yds, 123 rushing TDs 4.1 yd/carry career avg 587 career receptions, 21 receiving TDs With Tom Brady at QB, I need a running back that can handle a pass in addition to running effectively. I knew I should've taken Faulk in the second round, since he was the best dual rush/receiving threat ever, but I'll "settle" for Allen and all his credentials listed above. For the record, don't google search images of "Marcus Allen" with safe search off.

The Garnett trade was nothing new. Teams pick up superstars from bad teams for one decent player and scrubs fairly regularly. AI to the Nuggets, T-Mac to the Rockets, and Shaq to the Heat were all similar deals. The Gasol move was a total mugging by LA, but if Memphis is going to bend over and give 'em that kind of deal, what can you do?

It is because aside from the truly great ones, they are a dime a dozen and not nearly as integral to a team as some other positions like quarterbacks or defensive linemen. Basically there are a ton of good WRs out there and not that many legendary ones and they don't play one of the more important positions, so people are holding back drafting them. There are two or three on my radar left and after that I'll probably be waiting awhile for a WR myself. I agree with this. When pretty much everyone here should have an all-time great QB, you don't need exceptional receivers, so more people are looking to fill other positions that aren't as deep in the draft. When my QB won super bowls with Deion Branch, David Patten, and David Givens as his top targets, I feel like I can wait a while to pick up WR's.
-
I wanted to make sure I didn't wait too long to pick up a guy who could serve as a leader or captain on defense.
-
I wanted Faulk too. Oh well, back to defense. Steve Atwater - FS 8x Pro Bowl 2x All pro 2x SB champ 90's all decade team I'll pick up a defensive leader type here, who also happened to be good for 150 tackles or so per season during his peak years and a handful of interceptions as well.
-
First Lott, then Smith... I'm finding it tougher to stick to my philosophy when my top two defensive choices were taken and there's still one offensive guy on the board I really want, but I have to stay disciplined here. Derrick Thomas - OLB 9x Pro Bowl 3x All pro 90's all decade team 89 defensive RotY Got 7 sacks in a game once I didn't get quite as much QB pressure as I would get with Smith, but DT was still a hell of a pass rush threat and good against the run as well. There's a lot of sacks, tackles, and forced fumbles to be had with Thomas.
-
Damn, Lott was 3 picks from making it back to me.
-
With the #12 pick, I select: Tom Brady - QB 4x Pro Bowl 2x All Pro 3 Super Bowl championships (MVP in 2 of them) 197/86: TD/INT ratio Career rating: 92.9 Most TD's in a season: 50 Had a 21-game win streak, first 16-0 season, blah blah blah Maybe an unpopular guy, but an undeniable top-tier talent. I wanted to pick up a QB with my first pick, so why not pick a guy who has won 3 SB's with marginal offensive talent, especially at the skill positions? Mr. Brady is a proven winner and I know anyone I draft here on offense will be better than at least his first two SB teams. I can make defensive picks for quite a while now and still put a solid offense around Tom in the later rounds.
-
I think 20 is ok if you do O-lines as a group and keep the focus on drafting skill positions, but if we're going to do them individually, then we should cut the number down, or do the 2/12 thing because this thing would drag horribly in the later rounds otherwise.
-
I don't know. San Antonio won their previous series without winning on the road until Game 7. Utah did the same thing against Houston last year. I do think Game 1 is the easiest game to take if you're the lower seeded team, though, because you can catch the higher-ranked team off guard. We've seen it happen twice now where big Game 1 leads are blown and serve as total morale killers for the rest of series (SA/LA and PHX/SA).
-
Explicitly defining what constitutes an era would be tough, but I think we can apply some common sense. If 4 guys on the line have changed and the the 5th guy is way older, we could allow that versus a situation where all 4 of the 5 starters are the same and only a couple years older/younger.
-
VX said that wouldn't be allowed. Like you can't draft the 93 Cowboys after someone takes the 92 Cowboys.
