Bucs/Skins and Bears/Panthers.

I think you have to play safe and take the 3. Then, hypothetically, if Dallas puts a drive together and gets a FG, it doesn't hurt you, whereas if they do the same thing after a failed 4th down try, you're in deep shit. A TD kills you either way, but a FG keeps you relatively safe. Not that it matters with the safety and extra possession resulting in a Seattle TD, but I'd never go for it in that situation.
-
Jesus, that was some terrible playcalling on the goal line. With 7 minutes to go, why do you not kick the FG and give yourself a 3-point cushion, as well as possibly getting the go-ahead score on your next drive? Absolutely brain dead call. Edit: Mike Holmgren is fucking lucky.

Disappointing. Arguably not even the best match on the show, certainly not the best from ROH, and I won't even comment on how much it wasn't the best this year. Disgusting. Absolutely shameful. I assume anyone who voted for Misawa likes the way things are done in NOAH. Those votes should be added to Jun Akiyama's total. He does the booking for NOAH. How would that affect the final standings?

This Cowboys/Seahawks game is as ugly as expected. The best part of the playoffs today is the new Jim Mora Coors Light commercial.

And there's the nail in the coffin. Who would've thought at any point in the last 5 years the Chiefs offense would be entirely responsible for losing a big game? Enjoy getting killed by Baltimore next week, Indy.
-
Well, this one's over. I should've known there was no way the Colts would out-choke the Chiefs.
-
There ya go, Peyton. If you really wanna lose this game you have to start throwing picks to put the Chiefs in better field position. You have to have faith in your 32nd ranked D, even if they played way too well in the first half. Keep the pressure on KC's offense to screw up, the real D will show up eventually. In all seriousness, this game is embarrassing. I was thinking we might see this level of play from the NFC wild card games, but this is sad.
-
This game seems to be about who wants to win less. So far, Indy can't match KC's ineptitide and complete void of passion on offense. Peyton is doing his best to throw the game away with some picks, and solid overthrows when they get in the red zone, but he's driving them too far and Vinatieri keeps giving them points.

Chiefs 27, Colts 17: Tough call here. The Chiefs are notorious playoff chokers (worse than Indy) and the Colts have good luck against AFC West teams. The Chiefs also also have serious consistency issues and "backed in" to the playoffs. With that said, my prediction reflects on how worthless I think Indy is. They've been completely exposed over the past few weeks to the point where they lose to the Texans. The trick is to run a lot and blitz Manning. The Chiefs have Larry Johnson and have a passable D with some blitz/fake blitz packages that have been effective this year. I think this will be the Larry Johnson show, and the Peyton will be good for a couple picks and a handful of sacks. I won't be surprised if I'm wrong, but my gut says KC. Cowboys 23, Seahawks 10: Interesting matchup here with the two most bi-polar teams in the league. When they're on, they look unstoppable. But when they're off... Oh boy. This is as close to a 50/50 game I've ever seen, as I have no idea which team will show up. Then there's the possibility of both or neither showing up for a great or insanely ugly game. Gotta pick some road teams to win, so I'll pick Dallas here. It'll get people back on their bandwagon for a week before they lose again. Patriots 21, Jets 17: I see SB Glory Days performance by the Patriots here. That being an unnecessarily close game where the opponents really have no hope, but the score stays close to fuck with their fans. Bellicheck gets the tiebreaker win over his understudy in frustrating fashion. The Jets have exceeded all expectations to make it into the playoffs, but it's reality check time. The Pats have looked better this season by avoiding so many injuries and are a real contender if their defense shows up. They'll at least show up for this one. Eagles 31, Giants 14: The Giants don't deserve to be in the playoffs, but thanks to playing in the NFC, they slip in. Tiki Barber carried this uninspired group into the postseason, and he'll be their only hope here. Unfortunately for NY, the Eagles' D is too good, and the Giants could be looking at a really ugly offensive day. I think Tiki will generate what little the Giants get, while Eli gets beat up and picked. The Eagles' secondary will make Plax disappear like he always does in the post season, and I'm not sure Shockey will be too effective either. On the other side, the Giants's subpar run D will give Correll Buckhalter some good numbers, making life easy for the QB. The "Jeff Garcia Nightmare" continues for another week.

3.9? That's gotta be a disappointment. And like I said earlier, I'd be surprised if even 5 new viewers would tune in again after that show.

It's nice to see T-Mac found his scoring touch during this series of games against random jobbers. If he can keep this up, Yao will have plenty of time to rest. The key right now is staying afloat in the playoff race, and since the West is starting to thin out, being 8 games over .500 is plenty good enough.
-
Man, fuck Pat Riley. Ditches the team when they aren't playing well, someone else turns them into a winner, he gets back on the bandwagon for a championship, then leaves as soon as things get tough again. I hope Stan Van Gundy finds that bum in a dark alley.

I also think the increased risk of player injury also play a huge a role in the NFL's use of sudden death overtime. Playing 75 minutes of professional level football is not easy on the body.

That was a pretty terrible Raw. If I'm a casual fan who tuned in because I wanted to see K-Fed get his ass kicked, I'm never watching Raw again. As a die-hard wrestling fan, it only makes me want to see NYR (a show that has potential) slightly less, but since I have tickets, I'm already locked in. Hopefully it will surprise. The opening segment should've been promos to hype the ME, which should've been Cena vs. K-Fed. Then Cena kills him, Umaga and Cena brawl afterwards, etc. I can't believe WWE booked this the way they did. Well, I can believe it, but it's still sad. Instead, it was too much stalling, the Umaga (not an act you want to introduce to casual fans right off the bat) running down and Cena actually losing. Interferrence or not, that's still terrible if this is the end of the feud. Any casual viewers that stuck around after Umaga were surely turned away by the next segment's 1-2 punch of suck. First you get a bad Melina/Maria exchange and a match announced that no one really wants to see. They didn't even mention K-Fed would be involved, which seems counter productive. Next, there was that god-awful 8-man tag with some of the lamest gimmicks in the company. What ever happened to the WGTT/Cryme Tyme political correctness feud? That was interesting. Now they're just fighting for the hell of it. The Highlanders shouldn't be on tv, and the Rednecks won't ever work until they're booked seriously. At least Shad Gaspard looks like he's added a couple new moves to his hot tag routine. If anyone could withstand that garbage, they get rewarded with Rob Conway looking like a stooge and a Vince McMahon ego-jerk. You'd think Jeff Hardy would be a fun wrestler who you could turn some casual heads with, but you waste him in this? Yikes. The DX promo was alright, if not a little on the strange side. I doubt any casual viewers are left by this point, so I won't complain that this wouldn't hook them. It's certainly better than those two attempting a full-fledged comedy promo. Then there was another uninspired Carlito/X vs. Masters/X match. Dykstra pins Flair again, though this time he had to cheat. R-RKO comes out to beat up Flair again, and DX doesn't make the save. Jesus, they did this last month... Do they really run out of material that fast? The women's storyline could very well be the most coherent on the show. Victoria attacking Lillian Garcia was good. The feud could be better if Mickie were still more psychotic, but she's fine as the last line of defense for sexy divas. It's no Mickie/Trish, but at least it makes sense and I am curious if they'll do anything else with it. The ME went as expected. Cena went over everyone, which was fine, and he did have to use a chair to beat up Umaga. I wouldn't say Umaga was running, as AAE was instructing him to stay back. Cena FU'ing Federline was fine too, except for the fact that this was supposed to be the payoff for casual viewers, and they were never clued into the possibility of it happening. I expected this Raw to be more oriented to non-fans, since that's clearly the goal with all the K-Fed hype. Even from that perspective, this show sucked. Almost to levels of last summer. Bad, bad show all around and I can't see how this will attract new fans or encourage anyone to buy the ppv this week.

I agree with whoever said both work best for their respective leagues. I hate the college system, personally, but since college is all about offense, it works. Defenses in the NFL are a million times better than defenses in college, so sudden death works because the matchups are more even. This year, I think 5 of 11 OT games ended on the first posession, and the league average is around 50/50 where it should be. That means NFL offenses and defenses are of equal skill, and no one is being disadvantaged by a sudden death format.

I like the way the playoffs have shaped up for the AFC. No Denver at all, and the Steelers eliminating the Bengals from the playoffs for the second year in a row (sort of) was amusing. I really want to see the KC/Indy game. The Chiefs players are probably as surprised as anyone that they're in the post-season, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond. I'm sickly curious as to what LJ will do against the Colts' D, but the real key will be if the Chiefs D can do just enough to give them a win. The Jets/Pats rubber match should be good defensive battle as well. The NFC side looks much less interesting, however. All teams are varying degrees of inconsistent. The Eagles have been playing fairly well with Garcia, and the Giants have been bad for the most part recently. I forsee a squash here. Dallas and Seattle are the two most bipolar teams in the league. This could be really good, really sloppy, or a total squash. The winner will be lucky to survive their next game.

The Rockets killed the Hawks like they should have, and T-Mac put up his first really good scoring performance of the season (31 pts on 13/18 FG - 4/6 from 3).
-
I didn't watch the show, but did Angle/UT get acknowledged at all? And how did they cover the WM triple threat? They can't completely ignore that match.

Matt Hardy throws surprisingly good punches as well. Benoit and Finlay have good strikes too, but not exclusively punches. Chops, elbows, and knees make for good strikes if done well. Look at Kobashi, Misawa, and Akiyama. Jack Evans has slightly improved his strikes, but they still don't look that good. Probably doesn't help that works indies/Japan where most people work pretty stiff. I'm sure it'd be harder to pick out his crappy strikes in WWE or TNA where most of the wrestlers do fail to throw convincing ones.

The first I ever heard of Hinder was when a friend put their CD in, and I hated the whole thing. Then a couple months later, I heard that song when it finally made it to the radio, and I was terrified. The radio overkill only adds to my dislike. I'm just not a big fan of emo-rock and I hate the lead singer's voice. Has nothing to do with them being popular or cool to hate on. I like my share of pop music and mainstream rock, just not these guys (or Nickelback for that matter).

I'm in as "Where's Kurt Angle." My goal is to make it onto the weekly top 10 and force Todd Grisham to acknowledge my name.

That was an axe guillotine driver or beach break. The former is what Takao Omori calls it, the latter is what Genki Horiguchi calls it. I bet some woman was doing it in the early 90's too, as is the case with many "cool, modern" moves The Axe Guillotine Driver was different. It was set up like the Alabama Slam, then Omori dropped the opponent in a reverse Tombstone position (with the opponent's head between the back of Omori's knees. The Beach Break is a sit-down version of the AGD, but still keeps the opponent's head behind him. The move in discussion really is more like an Air Raid Crash or Schwein. I don't recall any joshi wrestlers using it, though they did come up with lots of cool moves. I figured more people would be familiar with term "Vertebreaker" than "Kudome Valentine."

Anyone gonna create the TSM group for Season 9?
