    The Next Big Wrestling Move?

What about a good-looking, convincing strike?

Not that surprising when the Nets only shot 33%. Although if Battier didn't explode from 3-pt range, the final score wouldn't be so lopsided.

    Worst Song(s) of 2006

I'm glad some people here are giving some hate to Hinder. Man, I can't stand their songs. Needless to say Lips of an Angel is up there for worst song. Nickelback put out a new song too, I think. Don't know the name of it, but it sounded as bad as the rest of their songs. I'm still gonna have to give my nod to "Our Country" by John Cougar Mellencamp.

I'm prepared for an endless string of ugly Rocket games. They have enough solid defenders out there to disrupt the opponents, but no one can score or handle the ball consistently. Edit: I see that T-Mac returned though. Must've just been one of those games for the Rockets. They're good for at least 5 absolutely hideous games a year based on how they play. He can at least handle the ball, and does provide a scoring threat, though without Yao, he'll be doubled a lot.

    TSM Year End Awards

The funny thing is, I follow both of those promotions and I still think Angle/UT is better than anything they've put out. I think Danielson/Nigel at Unified is vastly overrated with terms like "MOTY." Save for the great finish, it was a poorly thrown together recycled version of their match at Generation Now. I figured most dissent would come from the ROH crowd who would go for Danielson/Nigel 3 or Danielson/KENTA. While both matches are good, I'd have them on the very outer edge of my list of MOTYC's, the latter possibly not even in the discussion after their NOAH match was substantially better. The worst part is that few seem to mention Danielson/Joe anymore, though it blows pretty much everything else ROH has done this year away.

    Dec/22/2006 Smackdown Thread

That SD was the epitome of "just there." Batista/Sylvain was random, but at least it was short. Benoit/Chavo was alright. I hate where the angle is going with Chavo beating up Vickie and Benoit having to save her. And I hate all the lines being fed to JBL about Benoit being a woman beater. Not so much for content, but just for how stupid they make JBL look for saying them. Even with kayfabe, no rational person could possibly make a case for Chavo saving Vickie after he shoved her down, could they? It's good to see they're giving Mercury some personality and screen time now, since Nitro has far surpassed him in status. The Nitro/Matt match was ok. Biggest problem is there was virtually no mention of London and Kendrick who should've been put over huge after their win at Armageddon. The divas match was god-awful. I suppose I should give them some credit for trying some new spots, but I don't think any of those spots could've been executed more slowly or less convincingly. The ME was an alright match, but the context made it so much worse. I'm sick of the BOD god-push already and Finlay continuing to drop falls makes little sense. Why Kane isn't jobbing every week is beyond me, unless they want to give him a throwaway title match at the Rumble or something. He isn't going to work for more than a couple months, yet you keep putting him over guys you could still get mileage out of like Finlay, MVP, and Kennedy... I don't get it.

    The Next Big Wrestling Move?

No, the Cop Killa is like the Vertebreaker. The 4:30ish move you're talking about (I think) is like an Air Raid Crash. A more head-droppy version of Finlay's Celtic Cross.

*Sigh* Well, the Rockets are done. The year started off with much hope, but Yao and T-Mac both got hurt in less than 25 games. Not surprising, but still a heartbreaker.

    NFL Week 16

Yikes, that performance by the Giants was really embarrassing today. Not so much they're actual play (which was poor), but more about how they carry themselves. Constant personal fouls, throwing tantrums when they're down, etc. They had given up on the Saints game halfway through the 3rd when they were only down by 13. Coughlin has to be done at the end of the season. I was also disappointed with the Steelers bending over and taking it from the Ravens. Usually, that rivalry is competitive and both teams take a lot of pride in winning those games. Even when each team won the SB recently, they split the season series. This year the Steelers got beat up on both sides of the ball and apparently don't care anymore.

The Amy Zidian bit cracked me up. Rolling her eyes at Steph and telling her not to give her advice is priceless. The comments to Vickie were bitchy, but in all honesty, there's no way she should be on tv anyway. Shameless death exploitation aside, she can't sell, act, or do anything to put over an angle. And more bimbos and muscle heads getting pushed? Sounds like a good 2007 for WWE. The most disturbing item, though, is that DX will apparently still be together for the next few months, even though they were supposed to be dead by now.

I was shaking my head at this as well, but I'm not surprised in the least. Just to wait til the playoffs when this rule becomes even more selectively enforced. Tonight, though, it was good to see the Wizards overcome some rough calls and non-calls and get the win. Gilbert Arenas was amazing, but Caron Butler really stepped up as well, especially in OT. Outside of the late 4th officiatiing, this was a really fun game to watch.

It's so nice to see the Rockets play for 4 full quarters. Furthers my belief that if the team can play for 48 minutes, they can hang with anyone. Completely dominating performance against an elite team. Yao got off early, the bench actually provided some relief, the team defense was sharp... Everything seemed to click. Bonzi Wells totally needs more playing time. He can create his own shots and brings energy. Van Gundy needs to put his stupid grudges aside and do what's best for the team. Hopefully the non-Yao players can pick up some confidence with this win and continue to play well without T-Mac.

WFAN in NY is reporting that

AI can be a good PG when he wants to. He did lots of iso plays in Philly because he was the only guy on the team that was constant scoring threat. In Denver, it won't be just him. If he finds his role quickly, the Nuggets will be a dangerous team. I don't really understand much of the criticism for this move. It's not like Denver was headed for anything but a first round exit before they signed AI. Might as well try something different, because they certainly won't be doing any worse with this move.

    Tales of Laziness.

I didn't realize pissing/jerking it in the shower was considered lazy. I always did (and still do) it from an environmentalist perspective. Why waste an extra 5 gallons of water when I've got the shower started? Also, my clothes are never put away, sans my jersey collection which hangs neatly in my closet. My regular clothes live on the floor in college. At home, they live on top of the dryer where my parents fold the clothes. Sometimes my dad will move them up to my room and put them on my bed. Next time I'm in my room, they move to the floor. After working out, I have to make up for laziness. I hate taking my shoes off and on, so I never put any pants over my shorts to walk back from the gym, even if it's below zero outside.

When will AI start playing? That will be critical for keeping Denver afloat in the playoff race with Melo sitting for a month.

Going to No Way Out in Feburary

No Way Out is usually a pretty solid show with good matches. I think WWE has to put out something good since there's not much incentive to buy this one with WM looming. Hard to say what programs will be on the show. That'll be more clear after the Rumble.

I'm actually looking forward to the NYR card, something I wasn't expecting when I bought tickets a few weeks ago. There's potentially 5 good matches on the show.
  22. Two reasons I can think of. One, they want to individually spotlight each member of the team, hence they have it done one member at a time. Two, a one man conchairto is a lot harder to screw up than the E/C style, which at times didn't look like it connected that well. I think these reasons are satisfactory. I especially like reason #1. When E/C did it, their role was the best tag team in WWE, but now Edge and Orton are main event calibur singles stars, so they need to do stuff to stand out. I thought about injury risk myself, but I never recalled anyone getting seriously hurt by an E/C Conchairto.

    PPV title matches question

he said one-on-one title matches My bad. Shamrock and Steiner still stand if we're only counting WWE.
  24. Something I was thinking about while watching Raw... Why do Edge and Orton always do two one-man Conchairtos instead of doing it E/C style?

    The OaO Raw Thread 12/18/2006

Not a bad show, but it certainly didn't need to be 3 hours. When you have one guy working 3 different matches, there's way too much time to kill. There was lots of filler too, but that's to be expected. The plus side was the DX/R-RKO storyline being advanced with 2 weeks worth of material. Every other NYR program got build too, but it would be inexcusable if they didn't. The BR was what you'd expect. Lots of nothing until Edge did the good heel finish. Looks like Carlito vs. Masters at NYR. Meh. At least there was no Torrie involved. I know it probably wasn't in the script, but Carlito should NOT have no-sold that hard-way blood. That was the same amount of blood WWE wrestlers give when they want to put over serious head trauma. The Hardys vs. Nitro/WGTT match was disappointingly dull. I appreciate the Hardys selling injuries, but that dragged the match down when they couldn't show much fire. And the heel team saved all their cool offense until the match was over leaving the heat segments to be filled with lots of puching, kicking, and restholds. Is that Russian guy supposed to be a new wrestler? I didn't get that vibe, but why was he there and talking in Russian? The fans shit on him too, probably because they couldn't understand anything he said past "Double Double E." The Stallone interview was well done. Put over both parties and wasn't terribly boring. Nothing wrong there. The Cena/Edge match was great, possibly their best match together. I loved seeing Cena going back to the 2003 offense with the Throwback, top-rope leg drop, and even pulling out a couple new moves. There were some good sequences in this to mix it up from their previous encounters. The finish was kinda bad, but it was a story advancer. Worst part was Edge having to do the "Booker T sell" for the Pedigree. The women's match was better than I thought it would be. Hopefully they improve on it at NYR. When Cryme Tyme came out and started talking about TWGTT, I was happy. I thought they were finally going to give these guys some depth and help set up their NYR match. Unfortunately, it quickly degenerated into a terrible, and I mean terrible, comedy skit rivaling some of DX's summer antics. The crowd was into CT initially, but that skit killed 'em. The 6-man ME did what it was supposed to do. I liked Edge and Orton having to stay away from Umaga while Estrada had to keep him under control. Umaga and Cena do another wild brawl to put over their match, but hopefully they stopped fighting by the time the DQ was called. Edge and Orton put a good beatdown on DX and finally got to look legit against them. Edge baseball sliding HHH as he went for the sledge hammer was a good spot I didn't see coming. The Conchairtos looked good and HHH did a nice sell. Then to make things even better, there was Dean Malenko sighting. Good way to end the show, that oddly had lots of heels going over.
