I was wondering, especially with the IRC, if we judge today's wrestlers, etc. by a more difficult standard than those from the past. 99% of the time, any newcomer we see we quite frankly shit on, and I don't see how these workers are any better or worse than "way back when" but I also don't recall them being judged as critically as we do today? Thoughts?

-shrug- I saw the question in the same vein as the "You can't see me" one, just because some newbie asked the question doesn't make it an insult.

The protesters are attentions whores, nothing more. They're exactly like the ones in Seattle, who cause a riot and commit vandalism over globalization, yet can think of no alternatives to that which they claim to oppose. Nevermind that everyone of these fuckers can thank the US, its allies and the work (mostly done or lead by the US) they do to ensure the high standard of living as well as the right to scream and protest over things which these hippies no nothing.

I'd have to agree, we definately are more critical of poor workers, but more appreciative of those that are actually good. But as drdrainoscott said, if Nathan Jones had debuted in 94 or sometime before the IRC would we have been nearly as critical of him then as today. I have my doubts.

98% of the people out there are "nothing special" on the mic, and I think he's quite good. Yeah he's no Rock, Austin or Flair, but he plays his heel role well, certainly better than Maven, and as for his ring work it's not great, but then again how long has he actually been wrestling? Give the guy a break.

The matches themselves were ok at best, but the booking and angles were very good and more than made up for the matches.

Who doesn't play politics? RVD. And that is why he is stuck with a rinky dinky comic book store in a mall. I disagree. I call the radio shoots RVD did playing politics, it might not have been backstage, but it was still politics. Not that that's either good or bad, since every wrestlershould be looking out for themselves as well as (ideally) putting the business over. If you were Vince and you heard what he said during those "shoots" (I'm assuming they're legit) would you give him a mega push and put him in the main event. Vince has many flaws, but he does reward loyalty and I get the sense RVD isn't a team player.

I implied nothing of the sort, and no I won't run to a corner to sulk. I also object to words being put in my mouth: I never said Vince and co are unbiased and objective, I only stated my opinion as to why he doesn't have fans as writers. Take that as you will.

I've always wondered what the difference, physically between Andre and TBS is. Yes I know Andre is far more talented than TBS, but they are nearly the same size and I've wondered why TBS has never been pushed as the second coming of Andre, even based solely on their similar sizes.

Xenogears and SaGa Frontier do not belong in the same sentence. I'm still dismayed that they're made by the same company. Btw, Xenogears owns SF in every conceivable fashion.
