When RVD was in the Alliance, he was over solely on the basis of his ring work, and he was much more over than Benoit was during his title run. This is not to say that RVD was ever a better all-around wrestler than Benoit, or that he can connect with the crowd on his ring work the way Benoit can now, but at the time, he was more over based on his ring work. The original point that I responded to though was the assertion that the reason Benoit remained over after his "burial" was that he just connected better with the crowd all around than Jericho or RVD. I'm saying that point is wrong, because at the peaks of their overness (both in mid to late 2001), Jericho and RVD connected better with the crowd than Benoit. I'm saying the reason that Benoit did better is that he was never really buried and continued to be pushed as a strong main event player, even after his push ended. Jericho and RVD meanwhile were buried thoroughly, and sent all the way down to the low midcard where the fans lost interest in them.

So basically, it looks like San Antonio and Detroit did exactly what I thought they would. I think at this point, we can be reasonably sure they'll both make the conference finals. The Dallas/Phoenix series is a different story though. The Mavs are actually more talented and more experienced than the Suns. The Suns just have home advantage and a tendency to work harder throughout the season. I really think that even if the Mavs were to lose Game 5, they'd take the series in 7. Still though, this is the only series that is truly capable of going either way.

Who cares. That shit's hot. Oh wait I see, it's supposed to make you not want to have sex. Hmm....they better try again.

Even though I didn't click on this, I know I saw it somewhere before. To be honest, I think it was probably on here, back in the day.

That's some crazy fucking shit right there. It was a little too over-the-top to be consistently funny, but I will say that I liked the part where they alternated between the nails being hammered and the dick slamming up the ass.
-
How about "Fuck Kane, we want Matt"? That would be a fun, anti-authoritarian chant that could catch on with the crowds.

Bullshit. Absolute, pure, unadulaterated, bullshit. Jericho and RVD connected to the crowd way better than Benoit ever did. The fact is that HHH put Benoit over continuously for three months and brought him from "guy who can't win the big one" to "main event star". Even after the feud was over, Benoit was presented as HHH's nemesis, and the man he fears seeing in the ring. During Jericho's reign, he was built as the least credible champion ever, as not only could he not beat his opponents clean, he would have have to cheat 3 or 4 times just to have a chance of bringing them down. He even did this to blow off a feud that was based around him not being able to beat his opponent clean. (Rock: No Mercy-Royal Rumble) RVD, meanwhile was over to levels that Benoit never dreamed of in late 2001. However, what they did is hold him tantalizingly close to the World Title picture for quite a while, teasing a title win in every way possible, only to shunt him down to the midcard, and neuter his moveset. Stuck with a worker who's moveset suddenly consisted of kicks and the frog splash, and a character who was an utter failure, the fans quickly got bored with RVD, and his overness shot downward. Trust me, if RVD had got the push that Benoit did, they wouldn't have needed Batista to take over the top face spot.

I think the writing team's trying to tell Booker something. Like RETIRE!

Who cares? HHH cheated to win in the "Pick Your Poison" match. It's not like he won clean. And the Triple Threat matches were clean, even if they weren't "singles matches". Basically, HHH and Benoit have gotten in the ring 6 times in the last year or so, and Benoit won 5 times. I think it's pretty clear who put over who there.
-
There's a difference between "not making someone the biggest face ever" and "burying them". Triple H helped Benoit much more than he hurt him over the last year or so. If you look at where Benoit was last January, and where he is now, it's obvious that he has a lot more respect as a main eventer, and he's much more over with the crowds. Sure, if Benoit had a more well-promoted match at Bad Blood last year, it might have helped his title reign a little more. Perhaps, Trips could have elevated Benoit a little better. But to say he didn't elevate Benoit is completely wrong. And to say that he buried Benoit? That's just fucking ridiculous.

This just reminds me of what I really want. A friend of a friend that I was hanging out with a couple months ago had a super-modded X-Box with emulators on it for hundreds of Nintendo, Super Nintedo, N64, Playstation, etc. games. They were all just downloaded right to the hard drive, and they played fine with the X-Box controls. I would love to have the technological expertise to make that work for my gaming system. Of course, I've been home for a week and a half, and I haven't even bothered to hook up my PS2 yet, so I guess, I'm not all that concerned.

This is the rule that Mike falls under. Pretty much every post he made in CE could be counted under "acting like a twit" so I really think it applies here.

Is it a guy fucking a chicken? Because if so, I don't want to click on it.

In fact, as I think about it, what's to stop Edge from winning the title Monday and then switching shows with Cena. Batista and HHH could still have their ME inside HIAC, with HHH angry that Batista let his title get sent away, and it could even be the culmination of HHH's prediction that Batista would fail as champion. Then, they could have Batista take on Cena, face vs. face, at Summerslam while Edge defended the World title against someone like Undertaker. I'm not saying it's actually likely to happen, but it is a possibility if they want to keep Batista on Raw and switch the World Champions.

It's not really that we'd have that much reason to be shocked in kayfabe terms. It's obviously a tongue-in-cheek reference to Lita's real life harlotry. This whole storyline is basically an inside jab at Edge and Lita. Oh, and doesn't it seem like the logical booking is for Edge to win the title next Monday? I mean, no one ever loses two falls in a row in WWE-land, and it would be a perfect way to set up a PPV rematch. Obviously, we've seen the HIAC ads already for HHH challenging, but without knowing that, it seems like the logical step is for them to follow through on this push and give Edge at least a temporary run with the title.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they just have a gauntlet for the gold match which Abyss won to get a title shot? Didn't he already "win a title shot" that he never got to use before? So why the hell are they instantly rendering their own booking meaningless again by adding four people to the match that Abyss earned. Abyss deserves a one-on-one title shot at the next PPV or at least a Triple Threat match with Jarrett. Making a King of the Mountain match in this situation is ridiculous.

Well, you've got me there. I try, but they bore the shit out of me. Still though, it's like the Sonics/Spurs series. Seattle may pick up a couple games here and there, but you know San Antonio will win it in the end. For the record, I actually predicted the Pistons and Pacers would go seven, so I'm not surprised to see Indiana pick up a couple wins, but I just can't see the defending World Champs losing to an old team that's missing one of their two best players.
-
If Reggie Miller was smart, he'd stick around one more year. I'd think that when they get Artest back, and have all the motivation of having their team back together, they'd have a great chance of winning it all. This year though? There's no way they get by the Pistons.

First off, I want to congratulate Big Boss for getting suspended after only three posts. That must be a new record. Second, I have to say, Storm really didn't have that much going for him. I only started to like him after I read his website, not because of anything he did on screen. He was a slightly above average worker, and he definitely had a good dry sense of humor, but that was about it. I think he's one of those guys who built up a reputation as being "great", because they were average when WCW was terrible. (See T, Booker.) He's an entertaining enough character, and he's a solid midcard worker, but he's not versatile enough to really have much long-term potential, and after the initial "serious" gimmick ran its course, there really wasn't anywhere to go with him.
-
Actually, he's 36. While he's certainly not too old to wrestle, I don't think retirement's out of the question. He's basically gone about as far as he's going to go in the WWE, and I don't think he's in a situation where he needs the money or exposure that would be provided by working indies or working for TNA. I could see him doing maybe 1 or 2 ROH shows if he gets bored, but I don't think he'll ever wrestle full-time again.

What if they actually moved Cena to Raw without moving Batista to Smackdown. That would be hi-larious. Just basically say to the world, "yes, it's the B-show". It's not important, but if you want to waste your time watching it, go ahead. Actually, if they did do that, it would be kind of neat to move Benjamin over to Smackdown and make the IC Title the premier belt for the brand, at least after Shelton beat the US Champ. (It's still Jordan right?)

Viscera's an entertaining midcard face. We need more of those. Outside of Viscera and Hassan, everyone else on the Raw roster is either in the World Title chase or a glorified jobber.
-
I bet Adam Copeland's wife is loving Edge's new character direction.
-
Did you notice that the fans started getting bored with the Edge/Lita stuff as soon as the WWE acknowledged it? I think this is just going to blow up in their faces, or at least get chalked up as a massive waste of time.

Ya damn harlot! Talk about shoot comments that "aren't supposed to be shoot comments."
